i used to work here as a raft guide in 2017. I am from New Zealand. my experience was great. i have been commercially rafting since 2011. I am still guiding but not in OKC. I work as commercial guide all year long. The currents are strong the eddies are stronger than what you would see on a natural river also lots of strong holes and waves to surf and ferry in. pretty cool to see River sports still going strong
We were just out there last night (Tuesday) playing kayak football after they shut the pumps down. Riversport supports it as a monthly veterans event along with Team River Runner and Team RWB. Just so you know, the concrete on the bottom is pretty rough. Ask how I know. The safeties are only there for the rafters and tubers. They do not support the kayakers (anyone not wearing a riversport pfd - which are required for rafts/tubes. You can only wear your own for kayaking)
At 3 pumps the supernova is a lot of fun in the holes. Thankfully they started running 5 pumps on Saturdays this year. Both channels are great fun then. And FYI, the safety folks on the side are only there to assist with raft guest. They will watch and laugh at kayakers swimming😂

We also have a waterpark here in OKC that's actually called Whitewater lol well it's Hurricane Harbor now but we all still call it Whitewater. So when I saw you at Riversport I was confused.
Wade, what do you think of the Arcaworks paddle vs comparable Lettman 2 piece paddle for white water and attainments? I'm ordering today. I just picked up my ReactR L!
Well very different I like the arca for all round type paddling attainment playboating creeking ect and the lettman more for big water fast downstream paddling the lettmans cost more but is a work of art in design and feel. the Arca is just a beast of a blade forward workhorse really can go wrong with either. I almost drowned here doing the group rafting. Fell out and got caught in the current. By the time I got up above water my body was so depleted of oxygen I couldn’t move. Not one person helped me or threw me something to grab on to like they say they will. I was stuck in the water for a few minutes until I could start to move my arms and legs and not one bit of help from their team because nobody was watching. Their current is strong enough where a life jacket may not be enough to bring you up. If you go with people please watch them.

@@WadeHarrison from screenshots starting about 4:34-4:44 when you look about 90° off to your side, assuming the wall just outside the railing is level and the horizon vs the railing, maybe about 15-30° ± a few degrees. Not accounting for camera distortion, if present.
@WadeHarrison based on the website of the venue, the conveyor pulls you 170 feet, increasing by 21 feet of elevation. Trigonometry would tell you that's a 7 degree slope. [Angle=Sin (21/170)] Hardly 45 degrees. 🤷♂️
the fact that someone thought... you know what oklahoma needs? a rapids park shows you how out of touch our city leaders are. total waste of money. nobody goes because we live in oklahoma!! there is not alot of rapid people here in the plains. only thing dumber would be rock climbing... o wait...
As a resident of OKC, I find it interesting the water looks clear up close. I drive by this every weekday and from the highway the water looks nasty just like in this video. I’m sure it’s safe, or they wouldn’t have selected it for the upcoming Olympics, but after rumors a few years back of a bunch of kayakers getting sick from it, I can’t bring myself to try it up close. Looks like fun, though! I wonder if they treat & filter the water in any way, or is it not a closed system? Oklahoma is definitely not known for its clear water😂
No. All the people were super unfriendly. Oklahoma is the worst state, with OKC being the worst city in the worst state. Everyone should go somewhere else. Definitely live somewhere else. 100% do not recommend. Tornadoes, and crazy weather. And… scorpions. Be scared, very scared.

wtf are you talking about 😂 we are consistently rated a nice state. Don’t think every state surrounding us doesn’t have bugs and hail? Arkansas and MO seem to have had more bad tornadoes than we did lately. But I do know our state got better when you left! 😅
