The struggle is real non gamers wouldn't understand
So true
I think anyone who nerds out about any mass amount of media can understand. Video games are just like any other story told, it's just the way we absorb it that varies
Anyone with any kind of hobby or interest would understand 😂 The paradox of choice and choice paralysis is real in every area of life, from deciding what to eat for dinner to deciding what shoes to wear on the day.
@@ZerodragYT im glad we can all come together put are differences aside and help each other with the backlog gamers unite ✊
...and then try to explain why you keep on buying more games.
This is how I finished my backlog:
I chose a game from my backlog. It was a game that intrigued me the most in the moment. I would play it for a couple of hours and see if I liked until I got a good hold of the gameplay. If I didn't find the gameplay fun, I would immediately drop it and move on to the next. I kept doing it until I trimmed my backlog down to less than a dozen. Yes, I only loved that many out of close to a hundred games in my backlog. It's weird how those 90 or so games kept me away from the 10 or so games that eventually made their way into my all-time favorite list.
This is the best strategy ngl
So, just play a game
@@FredMaverik Just play a game that intrigues you the most in that moment. But don't be fussy about it. No need to be a perfectionist about it. Just play it to explore the gameplay. Play for a couple of hours and ask yourself whether you really liked the gameplay. If you find the gameplay a chore, it's about time you drop the game and move on to the next one that intrigues you the most.
I am trying to do that right now and just beat three in a row (Hogwarts Legacy, Dragon Quest 11, Tales of Arise) and tried another few that I decided were not for me. I still have so many that have been siting on my shelves for years now...😭. I am now playing Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition.
@@FredMaverik Complete rules for each monster should have been on their dashboard, not split between dashboard and rule book with the back of the dashboards completely waste
A mindset shift that I’ve made is that games are not something to be completed, but a world to visit and enjoy. I used to struggle with leaving games unfinished, but when I made the mindset shift, it made a huge difference!
Woah, that's really cool. Thanks for this :)
Only pain is to always get used to the different controls of each game again 😄
Yeeeee, thank you sharing this mindset, it actually helped me change the way i look my games ^^
Reason I play 1 it's fun, 2 gets me into another world because the real world is just ok. But I do forget that its so much more. I created a task mindset. Oh I haven't play I got to do it. I love what you said. I will do my best to remember those words. I rather say, I haven't played that but can't wait to visit that world or revisit that world.
Piggybacking off this idea, for games I think look really interesting but don't have a game style I enjoy I look up the "video game movie" on RUclips and enjoy experiencing the world/story that way. This also works for games you don't want to finish playing, but want the conclusion of.
I have found a cure for my own backlog over the past few years. Hear me out. A few years ago, I was frustrated with how I played a bunch of games, but never beat them. As the backlog just kept building, I would feel compelled to stop playing one and jump onto another. I decided I needed to tip the scales and balance my game time out to be a more streamlined experience. First of all, I have two young kids so I don't get time to play every day and when I do, it's usually for about an hour or so max, with the occasional longer session. I decided to focus on two games at a time. One of them being a main console game on the PS5, Xbox, or PC, while the other is on the Switch or Vita. This way, whenever time allowed, there would always be something to play, but it wouldn't be split among so many games. I would focus on those two games until I beat them. In doing so, I have beaten 59 games since the beginning of 2020 and am closing in on my 60th within the next couple weeks or so. This is all done with, on average, less than hour of game time per night. It's allowed me to enjoy each game to it's fullest and actually see credits roll. I have beaten LONG games like Death Stranding, The Witcher 3, Persona 5, Breath of the Wild, Ghost of Tsushima, and Red Dead Redemption 2. I've also played through several shorter (Hellblade, Resident Evil games) and retro games (Donkey Kong Country, Street of Rage, Dragon Quest) in that time as well.
It also helps that I rarely play multiplayer games as I don't feel like anything is accomplished if I'm doing the same thing over and over on the same maps against different people.
I know this was a lot to read, but hopefully my method can help some others dig deeper into their backlog and actually begin to make some progress as I've been able to do. I'm currently working on Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5 and Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero on Switch. Good luck and happy gaming!
Imagine putting in half the brain effort you did here on games into your family.. probably result in a happier family then individual
@@absolutelypro4612 What are you talking about? I put every ounce of myself into my family and make sure we are all happy before I even think about going to play games. I cook dinner every night, drop off and pick up from school, play and do homework with the kids, and am very active in knowing how my wife is doing and what she needs from me as well. It is always in the evenings after the kids are in bed and my wife is doing something else that she enjoys before I even start playing games. If each member of the family is happy as an individual, then the family is happy as a unit.
Imagine being someone so dense and insensibly judgmental that you make a horrible assumption about a person based on a single comment on RUclips. You need to look in the mirror and solve your own issues, bud.
@@absolutelypro4612 lmao what the fuck is that comment
@@Fast_Travel_Gamer well said
@@tekashisun585 Thank you, kindly.
When you start telling yourself you have a backlog, it creates a job in your mind. Games should be fun not jobs. Backlog is an addict term for sure.
I really do like this mindset! Games are also different experiences, sometimes you're in the mood for one experience, and not in the mood for another!
World Class
I completely agree with your thoughts in this video. I was trying to stick to playing and beating 1 game at a time but, when certain games made me feel burned out I've learned to just move on and play something that I have more fun with. I've put down some games that I enjoyed because the grind just started to feel like work for me but, I can always go back to them when I'm ready.
Yes, this happened to me with elden ring. I then installed multiple games in the same genera, but I still felt burnt-out and bored. So I just tried different games, with different spin, different "concentration" requirement: maybe today I prefer a mindless Quest on FFXIV, but tomorrow I can enjoy a well though out factory on Factorio.
I had this exact same experience, so many games burnt me out and I would start a new game and immediately would get hooked and play it in its entirety
Starting a game is fun, experiencing something new but longer u play almost all games become boring.
But I find satisfaction from it when I completed the game. Then my mind can move on to next without me feeling that I need to go back to that previous one. Especially shorter and story based games I try to finish, big openworld games I avoid now days all together.
I found personally with longer games I like to play multiple games, for example, currently playing GOW ragnarok, and im around 25 hours in and started to notice I was getting burnt out, so went back to FC3 to platinum and it really helped as now im back on GOW and thoroughly enjoying it. works for me but may work for someone reading this :)
Switching it up with a shorter game makes playing a longer title more satisfying in the long term. Absolutely grateful for the 10 hour experiences being a lot easier to digest inbetween the huge games out there
That’s literally what I’m doing!! I would play one game at a time, get burnt out, & hop to something else without finishing a game. Now that I pick out 3-5 games to bounce between, I actually complete games a lot more now without feeling burnt out from 1 game. It works 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I do the same with game with Hades, Madden, Judgement, city skyline 😊
I like to have a couple of games on rotation. Currently I'm playing Horizon Call of the Mountain, but I'm also jumping into Persona 4 Arena with combo practice, and then I'll be getting back into Red Dead Redemption 2 as my long play game
Maybe I'm in the minority here but I like having a backlog. I like the feeling of having tons of games I haven't played yet which I'm excited to try. I'd certainly rather feel that way rather than feeling like I don't have anything to play anyway
I came here looking for this comment. I don't put myself under any pressure to finish (or even start) a video game.
I agree but I find myself overspending on games and never play them
100 percent feel this. Ive got a massive backlog of over 400 ps3/ps4/ps5 games ive purchased on sales/deals/etc and use alot of these suggestions too frequently. When i buy series setshd/collections, i only do one entry and always play a different game to follow up before i start a sequel to avoid franchise burnout. Learned that lesson the hardway trying to go through all 3 Mafia games back to back haha. Like you said, variety is most definitely key
With entire series like Yakuza switching it up every once in a while to avoid getting burnt out by the gameplay loop keeps the games feeling fresh to play. Big agree on this!
Taking a break is always good because it gives you the opportunity to actually miss playing, and a clearer idea of what you want to play next. Also doing other things can fuel your interest towards specific games like, I don't know, watching Game of Thrones might encourage you to play The Witcher 3, Skyrim or something like that.
the problem i have is i keep getting wrapped up into new games or new sales. so i’m essentially adding more games to my library while i’m trying to get to them all.
Steam deck was a real backlog breaker for me - Until I realised that my library grew from 80 to 200 games xD
I've also approached my backlog the same way and just stop playing games I don't enjoy. I'd also say having persistence to keep on top of your backlog is helpful and don't be afraid to lookup walkthrough videos to help you through a game quicker.
I’m a 90’s baby; I find it impossible to just have fun playing games anymore because of the backlog. Back in the day when I could afford less games I actually had more fun with each since they meant more to me. I’ve decided to stop buying games until I’ve played enough of my backlog that I’m comfortable again moving forward.
I feel this so much. My action to solving my own backlog was playing short games. Something like max payne or 25 to life on my ps2 helped out with the burnout and made me feel accomplished. Once I played a few of more short games, I didnt feel that dread of attempting longer ones and was quiet satisfied. So its best to play a few short and then 1 long and repeat to best deal with burnout and backlog at the same time.
I blame skyrim and fallout 4 for my backlog. Both have 3000+hrs each. But recently, i bought a steamdeck, so i can play my backlog whenever.
It must be due to middle age, but I have a lot more fun "acquiring" games through sales or through research than actually playing them.
I like how you mentioned you thought you “had” to beat the games in your backlog. I was recently playing through the first metro game and it didn’t click with me, just wasn’t enjoying it. I’d keep checking how much longer I had on a walkthrough when suddenly I was hit with a realization that I have free will and don’t need to finish the game to completion😂
oh yeah i feel ya buddy ....
I'm a huge fan of open world and story heavy games, and I can find it really hard to hyper focus on a super big or story heavy games like Horizon or persona 5. So i tend to play 2 games at the same time: 1 large game that takes over 100+ hours to beat, and then a shorter game that takes a maximum of 40 hours to beat. I feel it tends to reduce burnout I can get from open world games, but that's just me
I've been tackling my backlog as well. I will share my approach here.
First, I will share what my backlog consists of:
*Xbox Series X|S:* 119 games
*PlayStation 5:* 27 games
*Nintendo Switch:* 7 games
For Xbox, that number includes Xbox One and Xbox 360 games.
For PlayStation, that includes both PS5 and PS4 games.
For PlayStation:
- With the exception of Spider-Man 2, I will not be purchasing any more games for that platform until I finish all of my PlayStation games
For Nintendo:
- Same as PlayStation. With such a small library, I won't be buying any more games for that platform until all of the current ones are finished.
My goal is to end the backlog with PlayStation and Nintendo. Afterwards, I will be buying one game at a time, and will not grt a second until the first one is completed.
Xbox is a different beast. Since it is my main platform, I have a different approach:
I have to finish four games before buying a new one. And I can only buy a new Xbpx game if I am going to *immediately* play that game. (GamePass games count as backlogged games.)
Works for me so far. I started on PlayStation first. Took it from 36 games down to 27 at the moment. Progress is ongoing. And it is working for me, too.
I've had to just come to terms with the fact that I'll never be able to play all the games I own. My OCD already makes me try to complete every game that I start which is super annoying. I feel like when I was younger I just played for fun and didn't worry about it. Wish I could get that mindset back
You ever try to play games you don't like that much on easy mode?
This video honestly made me realize that I've been looking at finishing my backlog games as more of a job / necessity than something that I should be having fun with...amazing video
I finally achieved the mindset like, a year ago that I don't have to finish everything I play, even if I'm enjoying it. There are some games that I genuinely enjoy, like I legitimately had a good time with, that at some point I just moved on from because I just felt like I'd gotten what I wanted out of it. There's the chance that one day I might go back to finish them, but for the moment I just got what I wanted from them and am ready to try something else 🤷♂️
Great video, I’m so glad you came to this realisation about your backlog 😀
One very good advice is to focus on main quests. If you have so many games finish the main story and change game. The post game usually is larger than the game itself!
Great video! It’s always a love/hate relationship with my backlog. But mostly love it because there’s always something to look forward to!!! Never bored
For me the worst part that's unmanageable is trying to complete a series of games. I'm going through kingdom hearts but I think chain of memories burned me out and like you said i need to take a break before tackling 2.
The problem with those are it feels bad to drop a game you don't love because you DO love the series but perhaps not the individual game ya know? I'm never sure how to tackle that. I'm usually happy that I did play the duds in the series at the end of the day but it does make it feel like work
gba CoM is my favorite kh game lol
@@lloydirving6209 I played the ps2 version, tbh I liked it I just started to get exhausted during rikus section. In the ps2 version at least it felt kinda unbalanced and got repetitive... I was also just generally annoyed how it gave you premade decks. If I could have just reordered them it would be so much better
If it was JUST Sora's section I'd probably say it was up there with some of my favorites in the series.
@@azumashinobi1559 I really dislike the CoM remakes, they made every aspect of the game worse IMO.
@@lloydirving6209 I agree. The GBA version is far superior.
Great video! Looking forward to more!
I alternate between the oldest games in my backlogs and the next game I’m truly excited to play. This keeps me engaged in the aspects of gaming that give me joy but focused on the past enough so I’m not missing out on true gems that withstand the test of time
From what I can understand here in this video:
1. Sales make it easy to stock up on even remotely interesting titles for the sake of trying them out.
2. Most of them aren't compelling enough to finish due to how accessible they were and how much more interesting something else is.
3. Multiplayer games are the biggest time-sinks and can distract you from actually completing other games offline.
4. Not taking a break from gaming makes it a chore and causes burnout in the same vein as your job or school work.
5. Not finishing something you're no longer interested in (as a hobby) is perfectly okay, at least you know what to look for next time.
Plus: Dont feel compelled to have an interest in something that most people say is "Game of the year" or something akin to that. If the game does NOT get you excited (even a little), then drop it. Dont have FOMO, just have fun.
Love the video dude! It's really helped me and took stress away from me to complete games! 😊
One tip beyond dropping games you just can't seem to enjoy from ur backlog (like you thought it was interesting/seems fun but then turns out you just can't stick with it), is to sprinkle replays of older games into the backlog. That way you're doing a mixture of games you dropped / never got around to playing as well as games you had already done (anywhere from 2-20 years or even more ago) that you can estentially reset your palette.
I like to think that I like collecting games now that I have a massive backlog. I know I'll probably never finish all of them and some of them I won't like, but you never know until you try.
I 100% agree with you on that playing games on Game Pass makes you not feel too bad about not completing the game when you've stopped enjoying it.
I literally just cleared mine out ! Mind you it wasn’t even one tenth as big as some, but none the less ! Cleared ! Those cheap plats didn’t get a look in, I attempted everything else at least, the games that were truly fun I completed and everything else causing the backlog got 5 minutes and gone. I’m now able to game without that heavy feeling that backlog gives you.
Highly recommended to all gamers with any form of backlog.
Cool, I’ll just put this on my watch later playlist.
Thanks for this. My backlog has been rough since 2016. I just play what I enjoy
I completely agree on what you said about Nier Replicant. I wanted to love that game so much, but doing the second half of the game over and over just to get a few measly endings (which I don't even think were that amazing after playing Automata) made me so burnt out and not wanting to play anything for a while.
I have almost 400 games on Steam. I don't just count finished games, I also count just played games. That also has merit. I've played almost 150 games, and I still have 29 easy games for children that's an hour each. I just need to be in the mood first.
I can tell you what you do not have though, which is a life.
@@gemodemplay415 having a job and working til night and day isnt a life, spending time or free time doing things you enjoy is having a life.
@@fartlordsmellytoe3690 Not understanding jokes is a rather clear indication someone has too much of a life. Maybe chill a bit and have some fun too.
@@gemodemplay415 why do I have to chill? My original reply to your comment wasn't even aggressive or mean to you? All I did was clarify that slaving away all day and holding yourself back from hobbies like gaming and such isnt having a life. I felt the need to say these things just incase someone takes your comment the wrong way and feels ashamed for playing games. Maybe chill a bit?
@@fartlordsmellytoe3690 Jeez, chill out, man, we all good here.
great video man, subscribed! I always like having a chill out game that I don’t need to worry about beating and can just turn my brain off for when I don’t want to grind my backlog. some of my favs are Mirror’s Edge, SSX and Destiny 2!
Hey mate, love the video! It gives off the vibe from channels like Adam Millard, Razbuten and GMT and is always something awesome to listen to in the background while gaming. Look forward to more!!
Great topic. I use a similar strategy regarding my backlog. Games shouldn't be a chore. If you do not connect with what you are playing, then simply move to the next. I'm also trying to cut down on my online PVP shooters and focus on single-player and coop games.
I dont want to "beat" my backlog. If my backlog is empty, I have nothing to play. Huge backlog is a BLESSING. It's like a library, the more the better. The problem is that you dont want to actually play games. Nothing to do with the backlog. Just pick up a game and play it. I have played 26 games just this year and I dont see my pace slowing down.
"You're going to end up buying them"
Time to put on the old parrot and eyepatch outfit, it's time.
This is so relatable, I have an issue where I play a game but I start to get tired of it near the endgame and I have a feeling that I want to grind through and finish it. I'm feeling that with scarlet nexus right now. But the other key issue is trying to play multiplayer games like Overwatch, Valorant, Fortnite, etc cause those are the only games your friends play. And you feel pressured to play every day with them.
This is me with a lot of games last year. Hence why I don't purchase a lot of newer or discount games on eShop psn store etc but I only focus on one game at a time that I'm really really excited and adamant about like mega man battle network legacy Collection This year, and Danganronpa decadence on switch last year , tmnt cowabunga collection sonic origins etc .
The music reminds me that I need to play dead rising 2 off the record. It’s been begging me to be played every time I turn on my Xbox. Love dead rising 1
I'm playing Dead Rising 1 at the moment and it is a blast to play! The mall music is awesome
This resonated on a personal level
Great video, I agree it’s a good idea to drop the games you’re not feeling.
But what if you actually like every game you play?
Since I started back gaming, I’ve yet to play a game that wasn’t fun.
I feel the same way sometimes. I have a massive gaming backlog and on top of that I have so many TV shows, anime and films that I need to watch. It's crazy.
great video man :3
I recommend giving a game at least 10% of its average completion time, and if it doesn't hook you in then just erase it and move on to the next game.
definitely how I am seeing most of my games now. I'm no longer worrying about completion percentage (as in getting to 100%) as much as I did two years ago
Not only am I trying to platinum the first RDR game, but I’m trying to max out all of the multiplayer rankings as well.
Seems like it would take a lifetime.
LOL!!
The only way to get over the pain of a backlog is to shift your perspective. Your backlog is not a to-do list. It's a list of endless entertainment. If you have the mindset that you have to play every game, then you're not going to enjoy any of them. As soon as you spend a day or two on one, you're going to feel obligated to move on because of the sheer amount you have to get through. Instead, forget the rest of them. Enjoy the one you're on until you are satisfied with it and are ready to give it up. You will never play every game. This is a good thing because you will always have something to play until the day you die. Once I came to grips with the fact that I don't have to experience every game I want to play, my enjoyment of the ones I have chosen to play has amplified immensely.
Totally agree. Nice one
The steam deck really helped me with my backlog! The suspend/resume feature on that thing is the main reason and the ability to detach myself from my desktop
This video resonated with me more than anything else on RUclips.
Great video! The struggle is real 😩
I have the same problem. I got a ps5 last year and I’ve never played anything outside of first party Nintendo (and a few others) before this ps5. So I have no time to play everything, and I also love to platinum games (astros playroom is my only one)
My backlog right now is:
-Mass Effect Legendary Edition
-Horizon Forbidden West (finishing today)
-Star Wars - Jedi: Fallen Order
-Until Dawn
-Final Fantasy 15
-Control Ultimate Edition
-Portal 2
-Assassin’s Creed (no ps3 yet)
-Crash Bandicoot: N-Sane Trilogy
-The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
-The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
-Uncharted: Golden Abyss (vita)
-Rayman Origins
And probably more
Thanks for reading my ramblings 😅
Good advice 👍👍
For me a lot of the burn out comes from AAA games where you need to put HOURS into it! Ive fallen more and more in love with Indie games where you only need 8-15 hours tops to actually beat the game unless you're an achievement hunter! Im currently playing both Ender Lilies and Hyper Light Drifter, ill occasionally throw in a rougelite here and there since those games are run based!
I’m sure this will get buried but I love the video, glad to be here before you blow up
I struggle with this too. The first thing that helped me was getting GOG Galaxy (Playnite works too) to see all the games I have in all platforms. Then I categorized them between "Want to play", "maybe" and "won't play". Then I made a spreadsheet with all the games I want to play and took gameplay times from How Long to Beat. Today I have 5 years worth of games to go (I don't have much time to play), but all this helped me with not buying new games on impulse. My rule number 1 now is only buy if I will play the game immediately, if it will sit in my backlog I just choose another game from my backlog. There will always be another sale.
I just finished jet set radio on pc to chip off my back log and was so happy to finally play a game I've listened to the ost of for years
this is a big help, i got a backlog of 20yrs to deal with.
I’m in the same struggle too. Bought games over the years (some new full process while most are cheap downloads or used games) and now with FF16 on the way, I’m planning on getting a PS5 which means more games.
I finished Xenoblade 3 DLC last month and now playing Tears of the Kingdom on my free time. So far still having fun and not forcing myself to play.
I am becoming more inactive on digital games than on physical games
My backlog when tears of the kingdom comes out…
That feeling is super relatable. So many people I know have been super focused on TOTK, its that fantastic of a game
Just put it on your backlog, and you'll have defeated one of your backlog games
Good video. I stopped making backlogs altogether. I focus on playing new games as they come out; if I buy a bunch of games on sale I just never play them. If there's a long period of time when nothing interesting comes out, then I'll dig into my library and play something that strikes my fancy. It's a much better way of approaching this hobby. When I made huge lists of 100+ games I wanted to play, I would literally just never play them and feel silly for spending so much time on something I don't even want to do.
Great video. Gave ya a follow and look forward to checking out more of your content!
Glad you enjoyed the video, thank you so much!
That’s pretty much how I did it especially in 2020 and 2021. My backlog is still huge tho due to me laser focused on making music now
Just found your channel. Wow how do you only have 600 subscribers that’s crazy.
Very good video
Thanks for the Vid
LMAO starting NieR Replicant at the end of march has done exactly the same to me and put me through exactly the same crisis that I'm in right now.
The realization that I'm kind of dragging myself through some of these genuinely incredible games hit really hard and I've removed a number of games from my "Play Later" lists in the past weeks.
And still, there's still so many games left and I'm genuinely stoked to give all of them a try. But I will have to seriously consider if I don't want to start dropping games I'm in the middle of a play through of if I'm just not clicking with it. It's difficult to keep yourself from feeling like you just wasted a bunch of time on a game you're not going to finish but it's far better than having one game clog the entirety of that backlog you wanted to get through so desperately.
And I'm still not done with NieR Replicant...
My approach is rather than having a long list, I just choose 3 games. One I'm playing now, two as backups. Only adding new game when I finish one or got bored.
I've decided to finally get into the trails series recently and got through the entirety of the sky trilogy, zero and azure and made it all the way to cold steel 4 in 2 months of playing... And I'm genuinely surprised how I did not get burnt out at all playing these games 😂
ive just set up all my consoles at once , and am playing through childhood favorites while also buying classics on ebay that i missed out on , while ALSO getting through my existing ps4 games . the size of my backlog has basically doubled / tripled . what ive found is it helps to have multiple games at the same time , so if you get burnt out you can just hop to sometning else , especially if the multiple games are different enough .
The backlog has taken over my life and never ends
I've come to realize that my library is the same games as 5 years ago. Everything new, I complete and hide and move on immediately. And then I stare at the same old games.
This has been the most relatable video Ive seen in a long while
Nice Video good work.
Thank you so much!

finally a subreddit i can feel a part of
What is wrong with everyone? Everyone is having these issues with gaming. Am I the only one who just plays and enjoys my games? I have over 4,000 games and everything has came 100% naturally. I never have to force myself or do anything weird to engage in the hobby.

I was correct
I took a break from videogames for about a month or so and now Im back beating games. Just beat Borderlands 3,Blasphamous,Tekken 2 and right now Im about 25 hours into Star Ocean V and Im having a blast. As sad as it is gamers we all need a break but once you come back youll realize why you started the hobby in the first place.
Nice vid man earned my sub I’m the same way as you I feel like but it takes me a long time to complete a game even when I play one at a time I recently stopped playing multiplayer games but I need to get back into them like mmos you need that interaction once in a while lmao
The ultimate gaming man vs self conflict: having a backlog that feels overwhelming but also having the immense satisfaction of crossing things off of it.
The best results for me have been juggling up to 2 singleplayer games, while occasionally playing multiplayer games.
It works especially well if 1 game is something I can play at my PC or console, with the other game being on a portable device like my Switch or Steam Deck.
For instance I’m playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider on my PC, and Legend of Dragoon (PS1) on my Steam Deck. Every now and again I’ll play some Destiny 2 with friends, but I don’t let it suck up my whole life like it used to.
When I’m not in the mood for Tomb Raider I’m mostly likely in the mood to lay in bed and play through LoD. It’s not too many games at once, so I’m still making a lot of progress. I also typically just play 1 of those games for the day. I don’t really juggle them throughout the day.
I have never related to a video more than this one.
I have over 500 owned games on just my Xbox alone!?!!
Some I’ve started and played, Most I’ve never even launched?!
But after a while about two years back I got to the point where I just don’t even buy any new games anymore.. Unless it’s something I am extremely excited for, which has not happened since the Witcher three and fallout four, I’d do not bother-
My back log on just my Xbox is already huge and that is not counting the games I have on my PlayStation, the games I have on my 3DS, the games I have on my PS Vita etc. etc. etc...
Like Denzel Washington said in the movie the book of Eli:
“ people didn’t know what was precious“
And we don’t.. most of us don’t at least..
I find myself sitting there, scrolling through my library, looking at everything I need to play then going to bed after not playing anything for hours.
Dony need to focus on just one game. You could play 10 mins on a shooter, 10 mins on a puzzler, 30 mins on a driver, then 20 mins on a fishing game. What a session. Finishing games is not your responsibility. It's the game makers responsibility to make a game that you simply cant put down. Like Halo when it first came out. I've gamed for decades and only finished a handful or two maybe. Have fun, enjoyed your video. Happy gaming.
Had a stroke and had to learn how to use my right hand again, I kept buying games hoping one day I could game again, I can't play like a pro anymore but I have a few hundred to play and I've been going through them for the last 15 months. It only took 6 years and I'm happy again, so I feel your pain. We may never play and beat all our games. ( this doesn't include game pass stuff) all physical copies. But I'm running into update errors or no online services available. So that really sucks.
One thing for me is not to play just to beat a game but to enjoy it. If I get burnt out after a few hours I’ll play something else and not come back to it for months.
