I been in the polka music business as a (Drummer ) for over 46 years and played with many of the top bands threw out Wi and many other states with very many button accordion bands like Frank Yankovic and Walter Ostanek all so Eldon Otto band and was a DJ on WMBK We played a lot of Benzy Rathbone on our polka show .we loved his playing so much .he has what I all ways called on the air as the acid polka's There was not anyone that had as much drive and talent as he had by far ! Ron the old polka Drummer from Wis 😉😎 🕺🪗💃👍🎹🪕👯🪗
Was this recorded at Herminie Slovenian Hall? I think I was there for this! Benzy was one of the greatest accordionists that ever lived and many people learned to play the button box and accordions so well that they formed there own bands! RIP Benzy you are missed my friend, see you in heaven one day!
Thanks a million for this video/audio. I listen to it almost every day. I am relearning the diatonic accordion I inherited from my late Grandfather and the late Benzy Rathbone, rest his soul has provided me with two great polkas to attempt and practice. I wish I knew their names. Anyone out there know the names of Polka 1 and or Polka 2? Thanks a mil. N. Barry, Kelowna BC. Grandson of Karl Bogyo, Oliver BC Canada
I am a new fan of the late Mr. Benzy Rathbone. I love these two polkas. Can anyone tell me the name of the first one that goes from zero to 4:18 with a break in the middle for some reason (?) then the second polka name also. This is great. Thank you Mr. Rathbone for your gift of music ( Rest in Peace) and to Mr. Renchko for videotaping this musical performance. I love the sound of the Helicon Bass sounding through the sound ports ! Fantastik ! !
Paul, that sax player is my father Joe Alsippi. I hope in the past 2 years you’ve found him playing on various other videos on RUclips. He also released a CD that can be bought on Amazon and Apple :)

There is NOONE like Benzy. His music still makes my heart happy, even after all these years. 💕💕
It's a sad thing that these few videos are all we have to remember him.....

His lovely music lives on .
Hello does anyone know the name of the first song?
Hardcore buttonbox player: even though Benzy played piano accordion, he didn't use his right thumb on the buttonbox.
Benzy
was my brother-in-law's step brother. My sister Joann used to baby sit him......
