When I travelled to Osaka a couple years back (I was 16 then) , I went with my mom to find a nice hotel to fit us all (there was 4 of us), and while walking around Dotonburi, mom and I found a nice looking hotel.
Mom was conversing with the receptionist while I looked at the pictures of the suits. They came in many different styles, some european, some hello kitty themed, some very traditional Japanese looking... which looked oddly like rooms they used in the Japanese AVs I stumble upon sometimes late at night...
I was going to tell my mom when she grabbed me by the hand and ran out the door in a flurry.
And that was the story of how I almost stayed at a love hotel, with my mom and my grandparents.
I had a similar experience....the difference was, that we did end up staying there

I've stayed at a love hotel in Taiwan before XD cuz like it was the only affordable one that would allow a group of five into a double bed bedroom at that timing. Cuz my friends and i missed a late night train, so we needed a place to crash for a few hours before we rush for the earliest train available the next day. It was really pretty nice for it's price tbh. The room wasn't very big but it was comfy and clean. So i get what Ebio meant XD
But we kinda suspected that it was a love hotel from the name, and then we found some things in the room too XD
Tbf, staying a night for cheap in a very comfortable room was quite a nice thing back when I didn't want to sleep at the barracks on my days off.
