Hi Stripey 👋. From the top of the mountain to the bottom, it’s like two different worlds. Totally white up there, looked amazing. Thanks for sharing Stripey. Serk
Hi Serk 👋, was a good feeling when I finally broke through the cloud. Was a pretty hard cut which I haven't seen often before 🤩👍. Thanks a lot Serk! ATB Stripey
What a super trip. Great to get away from the usual tops. That one had super views, well whilst you could see them. Love your minimalist approach. It certainly works well for you. Good to be forewarned that there was likely some snow. As you mentioned good to know there was a safe way down if, and as there was, a covering. Great video Stripey.
Thanks a lot Charles! Yeah that steep grass hill down would have been horrible slippy - if I wouldn't have been able to see the other path down, I would have gone down again - too sketchy for me 😂 Cheers Stripey
Thanks a lot. Best tip is which I can give is make a list of the stuff you take before you go and tick them after the tour off, if you used them. The best way to lighten the pack is taking just the stuff you need 😎👍
A good camp this one and little sprinkling of snow. always like the DCF MLD often regret getting rid of it. Nothing better than waking up to those views in the morning! cheers for sharing. ATB Steven
I take my hat of to you putting the wet socks back first thing in the morning (torture), I can’t do that anymore. Back in the 80s I was working on a oil tanker in Brest France were I wore rubber salopettes every day which leaked in the crude oil. Every morning for months I had to put on oil sodden socks .sounds funny but eventually it becomes very painful. I always take spare everything now .🥶Well done Stripey.Cheers James
Thanks a lot James! I can only imagine how horrible that must have been 😐. Yeah socks for changing are quite a nice thing but my trail runners aren't waterproof so it would help me only the first 5 minutes...therefore in summer I can walk them fairly quick dry ☺️. Cheers Stripey
Best video yet for me. Incredible scenery and walk in and love your cooking set up. I made puck stoves as per your video for me and my three hiking chums and they work beautifully. Combined with the Fusion ti-tri they boil 200ml of water just using a crazy 8gm of fuel! Thank you.
Always enjoy your videos I don’t wild camp myself but i love what you do hard to believe looking at your tent that it being so light and fragile it’s capable of providing you shelter in such harsh conditions amazing.
You are a real Mountain Man, great videographer and expert hiker. You’re always so filled with joy, with your big smile and completely unfazed by anything nature throws your way! Your videos are beautiful and they capture the majesty and awe inspiring forces of nature. I laugh out loud when you refer to sub zero temperatures as “fresh” 😂Here in Colorado we call it winter😄I came across your video by chance and now I’ve subscribed. I plan to catch up and binge on all your videos. Thank you for sharing your amazing hikes. Love your channel!
Good stuff Stripey , looked a good hill that one , I’ll probably visit it myself sometime. It’s a lovely area in there I’m thinking on doing the Munro Beinn nan Aighenan from this side . Excellent video and nice editing mate .. cheers Stevie
Cracking video again Stripey. Such stunning views on the way in. Not so much on the way down but still great to be out all the same. Thanks for sharing as always. 😀🥾🏔️🏴
Excellent video Stripey. I don't know how you get the energy to position the camera and walk up and down between shots. But the hard work pays off. All the best.
Hi Doug 👋, these are the altra Mont Blanc BOA. Slightly stiffer than my Olympus 4, about the durability I can’t say really anything yet. In my Gear List video I show them a bit better and why I choose them. Cheers Stripey
Good stuff again Stripey. I've started using a SOL / Adventure Medical Kits emergency bivvy bag as a groundsheet / footprint. Like you I reinforced the corners with gaffer tape so I can peg it down. It packs much smaller than a Tyvek or ready made footprint and can still be used for its original purpose.
@@StripeyHatGuy No problems so far. It's quite robust material and if you keep it as a bag then you get a double later. I think it would puncture if you layed on anything sharp - so don't lay on anything sharp!
@@StripeyHatGuy It's a good bit of emergency kit to have anyway, so nothing lost even if you don't use it as a groundsheet. Only downside is that it is tricky to get back into its bag once you've unrolled it, but I usually just fold it up then repack it properly once I get home. Takes up little space even out of its stuff bag. PS the cone windshield looks good 👍
Really need to have a look in one of the old first aid kits from the car…maybe air still have one for a try! Thanks a lot, finished last week the cad file - laser cutter is the next step 😎
What an adventure! I am curious, you use a tent with no sewn in ground sheet, does the wind and snow not enter the tent?? But regardless it was certainly 'a winter summit camp'!
Hi Gordon 👋, the pitch was a little lower than the direction where the wind was coming from. That means that the wind was rather blowing against the tent than underneath it 👍
Are those public land? I saw the close gate that's why I'm asking. Do you need a permit to hike? I see sometimes a herd of animals so if public can they use it to pasture a herd? Just curious about it; I like very much your videos great work.
Hi Alvin, thank you very much. In Scotland you are allowed to cross public land for recreational purposes. Obviously you need to behave like a normal person when doing so. a longer version can be found here:www.gov.scot/policies/landscape-and-outdoor-access/public-access-to-land/ ATB Stripey
mmmh not sure tbh. Mine has already two tears after just one usage. Might be worth trying the 1.5 version instead of the 0.7 for my usage, but I am a kind of reluctant even for the weight savings in comparison to my Silnylon bathtub...
Yeah definitely, but thankfully I was able to see the way fairly good down on the day before and knew that it was more or less just down next to a burn. if I wouldn't have seen this before, I would not have slept the night on top 😎
@@StripeyHatGuy yeah, i've just learnt my lesson about going off the path, nearly broke my leg just above the knee on arran, bent my pole, which saved my leg, and i just saw wildbeare get a big fright on a welsh mountain bog. so, i'm gonna leave the tough stuff to people like you who know what they are doing with a map hehehe.
Oh my god, glad to hear that just the pole bent/broke and not your leg! Accidents can happen to everyone, doesn't matter how experienced they are...I think I could fill a good leaflet with things that I saw or experienced myself 😏
Hey there stripey.. How have you found yourself living in Scotland? What is your vocation? ? Don't get us wrong. We're so glad you've made your home among us. But the people need to know. 🙏🦧
Hi Fraser, I really like Scotland, some things are not as good as in other countries where I lived, a lot of things are much better and the people and nature is just fantastic + half of my family is from here 😉. I am active in the entrepreneurial space, mainly in the engineering and IT space. Cheers Stripey
I only get to the lake district I but I do watch a lot of Scotland and you are by my favourite creator I love you stripey 🌓🌓🌓
Oh wow! Thank you very much Micah ☺️
Thank you for this video. At just two minutes, already the scenery is magnificent.
Absolutely beautiful area! Thanks a lot for watching 👍
Loved the new small details you mixed in with hight and name of the mountains!

Recently bought some 100% coco chocolate. It's great in small chunks and has a really powerful taste.

nice wee walk, but that mist kinda makes it a bit scary navigating down.

sorry, a question about katadyn be free, in this cold weather , arent you risking to freeze the filter, thus compromise its membrane ?
How do you defend against the ticks? I'd love to do this, but just the thought of them freaks me the fuck out and I've heard they're on the rise?
Interesting footwear choice, what are they?
Hi LR Disco 👋,
the shoes I am wearing here are the Altra Mont Blanc BOA, talked in my gear video a little about them 👍
Do u have a link for your cooking set
Hopefully soon 😎. It is a self built one, have a more or less recent video on the current status 👍
What a great accent, quality video aswell
