This is the classic case and toxicity of 'simp culture', where you know you can't get the girl in real life so you have to pay for their attention, but then you feel entitled to their feelings and affection because you helped save them. There's something so wrong about expecting someone to give you love because they financially need you. Then his nice guy image started to slide when he got meaner, she soon realised she could not force her attraction to him anymore, would be so miserable being married to him for the rest of her life that no amount of promised money and a 'better life' would be worth it. She's completely right and valid in saying, I'd rather make my own money and find a way somehow then marrying a guy I don't love and can no longer stand being around. Even if he did give her kids and family a better life, they would be so miserable seeing her in such a miserable marriage.
