It's hard to be optimistic about the present state of the Western world. Especially when there are brutal barbarians, not only at the gates but inside our houses. In large and ever increasing numbers and very adept at manipulating our flaws and weaknesses
I'm very pessimistic about the future of Western Europe.
Islam is definitely a great danger as we will soon realize.
I hope by then it's not too late.

On the plus side, many more people are now aware of the very real threat islam poses to democracy.
The downside is no-one in power is willing or able to offer a tenable resolution .

      Islam is the SELF-DECLARED enemy.
It was most likely a misplaced cultural arrogance of the elites which made them ignore this fact when enabling huge numbers of Muslims into Europe.
Any further facilitating of Islam in Europe is treason.
Treason is the most serious crime in law since the very existence of laws is undermined by that crime.
De facto, in times of crisis, the death penalty is the norm for treason

I listened carefully to his talk and noted that his argument and worldview rests firmly on liberal principles. He is promoting what is essentially a materialist liberal "universal man, universal values" worldview. He believes in universal values because he believes that Western tradition should be recognized universally, which is liberalism.
The opposite would be a traditional, ancient worldview (for instance one based on ancestor veneration, hierarchy and localism "local man, local values and tradition".) The opposite of liberalism, tradition, would not expect Western values to be universal, would not expect non-Westerners to respect Western values and visa versa. I'm pointing this out because the distinction is often missed in the West which tends to swim at the very deep end of modernity.
The irony is that everything he is calling out that he opposes or has a concern about is merely a natural consequence of liberalism. Liberalism (materialist, universal humanist, progressive history worldview) is the favored worldview of a merchant class. Its just ironic when you hear people arguing against liberalism from within liberalism and arguing for more liberalism.

    • @Pinkdam
      @Pinkdam Месяц назад +1

Liberalism was the invention of the merchant class, at least when it ceased to be a pure abstraction and became e.g. 'Manchester Liberalism'.

It starts with a return to Christianity, something very hard to do in a post-Nietzsche world. Simply because, although we rave about free speech, liberal values, individual liberty etc, the fundamental foundation of Western society is its religious/moral base - it's not called the Judeo-Christian value system for nothing - sorry, that should include the humanistic Greeks as well. And because this is no longer the fabric of our society, we see the breakdown of the family, and everything else spreads from there. It is thus quite telling when Ayan Hirsi notes she has become Christian because she feels a need for that base. Dawkins, although a professed atheist, is simply part of the intellectual elite of the West that can afford to live on its scientific/intellectualism - he does, however, concede the need to be "culturally Christian" simply because it is this value system that allows individuals such as Dawkins, Hitchens et al to thrive.

"Judeo-Christian" was not a popular term until after World War II. There was nothing really Jewish about the West until after the war. Christians and Jews have VERY different views of the world in general.

If you go back to the Yalta Conference in 1945 where the future of Europe was
decided by the US UK USSR. French reaction to that snub has led to the invasion
of Europe and since '45 all West Euro States signed up for unification of Eur and the mid east
calling it Eurabia. So while that plays out everything else is geared up to seize.

Sorry, but supporting the Palestinians in Gaza after we failed them by taking their land to help create the state of Israel doesn’t mean that I hate my country. My late Grandfather fought in WW2 against Nazi tyranny and he also supported the Palestinian cause, because he said it wasn’t our land to give. Trying to right the wrongs that western countries l/governments have done doesn’t mean that you hate your country, it just means that you believe in standing for what is fair and just. If you want to play the game of divide and conquer over issues like this then fine, but I’m of an age where I can’t be bothered over arguing over issues like this.

Your Grandfather was wrong. To the victor the spoils. Are you saying that the land should be handed back to the Turks? Really? When the ghastly Ottoman slaving empire collapsed the victors acquired the sh1tshow they left behind. The Mandate for Palestine included all of Jordan. But the British had made promises to the Arabs so they handed 3/4 of the landed mandated to be Jewish to the separatist apartheid Muslims. The Muslims wanted ALL of the land and to continue to impose their backward and oppressive doctrines which would make Jews and Christians who had inhabited the land long before Islam existed second class citizens who had already forfeited their lives for not submitting to the god of the Quran.
