Ir’s seriously messed up - guy gave up all his fame and wealth to serve his country, and that’s how it ended for him. And the kicker? Yeah, the Army and the U.S. Government decided it would be a wise idea to not tell his family until weeks after his memorial service.

The Andy Griffith bit was a cheap shot. Seth MacFarlane does that sometimes. He usually doesn't see things through woke eyes, but occasionally he falls into that trap. Andy Griffith was a Democrat and supported Barack Obama for President in 2008. Because his 1960 TV show didn't have any black characters at time when no TV series had black characters, somehow makes him racist in the eyes of the more deranged portion of the woke movement's revisionist historians. He was not racist.
I doubt it had anything with Seth, since he hasn't written on the show and has had pretty much zero involvement in how the show is run since around 2011
