Shop Tool Reviews:
These Husky Thin Wall impact sockets are only $29.97 from the Home Depot #sponsored in a 10-piece set. You can get these in the metric or SAE set. The 10-piece kit includes 9 sockets and a 3/8" square x 1/4" hex impact driver adapter. While these are labeled impact sockets, Husky intends for them to be used with an Impact Driver (1/4" hex) and not an Impac Wrench (sqaure anvil).
We actually used ours with the Ridgid impact driver and with our Ingersoll Rand 3/8" impact wrench. We had no problems with the sockets and never split one. The thin walls allow these to fit in places a normal impact socket would not.
Taking into consideration the size difference, we compared the Husky 15mm thin wall impact socket to the standard Husky 15mm 1/2" Impact Socket (made for impact wrenches). The thin wall width measured .800" and the standard impact socket was .950". This is nearly a 15% difference in thickness.
With our metric kit, you get sockets from 8 to 18mm; however, they skip sizes 11mm and 14mm. These are the equivalent to the 7/16" and 9/16" in SAE. The Husky Thin Wall impact sockets are made of Cr-MO and have a black phosphorous finish. Sizes are both laser etched (gold color) on one side and engraved on the other. These are great for fitting into tight spaces, like removing lugs from aluminum wheels.
Great video. These are on sale right now for $14.97 per set at Home Depot.
We saw that. Very good deal. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews I got those for 15 bucks each to ..metric and standard But lately I’ve been Sing praise change on the Same sockets And other socket as well
Ugh, notably missing is the 19mm size, which is exactly what I wanted for getting at my lugs.
Yes, it is missing the 19mm. Frustrating. Thanks for watching.
Mine fit so loose on my stubby impact it’s awful, I’m thinking about getting another set to see if it’s just this set that I’m having issues with
I believe they are made for pin detent anvils. Try them on a ratchet and you will see that they fit snug on it.
@@madc0bra2 I have the same problem and yup no ball detent on the anvil.
The 14 mm is a must have size and its missing. I would not buy this set.
I've actually been looking for thinner walled impact sockets and mid length looks like these might cover both those basis
Yes, these are great sockets for that. I noticed that as well. These are more like a mid-length rather than deep well. We did a rear-main on a Suburban yesterday and almost solely used these sockets. Worked great for the studs/bolts around the bellhousing.
@@Shoptoolreviews I just got back from Home Depot and picked up a set of the metric... And a new Ridgid panel light to complete my tripod...👍
It makes no sense to me that they are skipping the MM sizes that cover the SAE sizes. If that were true 8mm (5/16) 13MM (1/2) and 16MM (5/8) are a lot closer then omitting the 14MM(9/16'ish not close enough without rounding) socket. Or am I missing something?
I saw this at Home Depot I really liked the size and design of it. ONLY reason I don't buy this is because they skip size.
I've been looking at these in-store since Christmas and really wondering
Very happy with these and great for the price
Jujoji go with the gray pumatic duo purpose set way better and a lot more to kit
Bought them today 1/2 off 14.97 in store like you said nice sockets junk rail
I heard they are not really thin wall sockets.. is that correct? They looks like craftsman socket. Do they look like icon sockets?
I just bought these and they are loose as heck on my 3/8" makita impact wrench. Every socket in both the SAE and MM so loose they will fall off if I point them down. But all other sockets fit that makita just fine, including the regular husky impact sockets. The makita doesn't have a ball detent anvil. So if you don't have a ball detent anvil these are gonna suck.
REALLY?! We will have to check ours in the shop. I will definitely follow up with you on this. Thanks for letting us know.
I just bought the set and they are made to fit the 1/4 inch hex adapter that the set comes with. Wouldn't fit the anvil on my ridgid subcompact. Pointless 😡
These are amazing
Yes, they are.
$15 today at Home Depot again
Can they be used with a regular 3/8 ratchet? Dont want to use that drill adapter
Yes, they can be used with a regular 3/8" ratchet. Thanks for watching.
On sale at Home Depot for $14.97 right now.
That's a great deal. These are handy sockets.
@@Shoptoolreviews Think XMAS gifts now👍👍
Very good, thanks.
You are welcome and thanks for watching.
Nice review. Will pick up a set today.
Thank you so much. I think you'll be happy with your purchase
