It works and in the street, you do not see it coming its fast, powerful accurate and takes the wind out of a lot people, that is the only point that matters.
@touretul Mae geri keage is a front snap kick, mae geri kekomi is a front thrust kick. Either can go to the face. Kekomi is more like a push kick, keage quickly snaps in and back.
I'm very serious now about obtaining my Black Belt. A lot has happened in my life , my body and mind has become weakened by fear and the pathetic ramblings of idiots. I gave up many years ago, but now I have 2 sons, and one just born, I will train my very hardest, I will forge my body in the fire of my own will and purge myself clean of the sins of the flesh. This mortal body will once again be strong and my will like iron. Wish my luck my friends as Karate is once again the path I choose for
@brunolp18 @dxj8625 I think that you are incorrect. Kagawa's style is very clearly Shotokan. If you search for "Kagawa Sensei" on Google, everything that I find comes up with his association with JKA, which is Shotokan. The video's subtitle claims JKS, which is also Shotokan.

I seem to have pefected a new type of kick after around 8 years training in the early 70 s We were taught the side snap ( keage kick ) body turns sideways and the kick snaps out from the knee. Due to myself being very flexible ,i managed to do this kick face on to my opponent . I bring my knee up across my upper chest twist my foot round so outer edge faces opponent. And i snap it out to their face. I still can do some weird things with my ankle joints ,i can make them face back wards. This kick is not only fast ,but totally unexpected .The other guy suddenly finds the outer edge of my foot in their face . I have even been asked what kick it is . I guess its a side snap keage executed face on .lol

With respect, mae geri has plenty of power when delivered correctly. For an example, see Anderson Silva vs Vitor Belfort. Hidari mae geri to the face ends the bout. Quick and simple, yet effective. Not about scoring points at all.
Shotokan is children's karate?? Tell that to Lyoto Machida of the UFC. Over the years I've noticed those people that belittle Shotokan are those same people that lack patience and self-discipline to master the correctness of any one thing well, including their own watered-down, "Americanized" version of the martial art they happen to be associated with. Better to realize: ALL branches of the martial arts tree have nourishing fruit to offer us.
Its sad but I have learned more about karate online then what is offered around me. The dojos are watered down and lack the true essence of what karate was. People say you can not learn online, but it is where all the knowledge is sometimes
@dxj8625 @OXCerberusX0 True. Even though his techniques are very shotokan, I never actually saw any kyokushin technique. And I read in a few blogs that said he was kyokushin. Just did a little research. Sorry, ur right. Oss!
For those who don´t understand what´s here and just write intolerance comments: 1st become an insider. Expressing outer perceptions will only let others know your absolute lack of knowledge.See this entirely, listen to the Kyokushin guy comments: 極真VS沖縄空手 Kyokushin vs Okinawan Karate (copy and paste in tthis page´s search field). Both Okinawan Karate and Shotokan are very similar, but not the same, so you have tha idea.
Then you haven't been in a fight with a Karateka :P It's your ignorance that doesn't go a lot of damage. And if you ever see anyone do this kick, they're doing mae geri, Muay thai kicks are different. Both deal damage.
Mrsal5. That is NOT Muay Thai and I think you know that lol. This is Shotokan Karate. It really does not matter what Art it in fact is. It's the fact all Martial Arts deserve respect..My art is better than art...my Dad is stronger than your Dad is way past our intellect, And should really ideally be left where it belongs... In the playground. And a lack of knowledge can be seen as Ignorance. But I don't think you did not know the difference.I think you just wanted to annoy some people lol.
Mae geri may not look that strong, because you don't push your partner very far. In fact, it is Not a pushing force, it is more like a whip. The impact is short and hard and so the result is a shock. The human body is about 70% water and a hydrostatic shock can be much more dangerous than a slower, but stronger, pushing force. The same principle is applied it you compare a pushing through boxing haymaker, that uses a big striking surface and a classical, more snapping zuki with a clear end of the motion
Karate - The universal language, no need for subtitles
this is a well demonstrated and very well explained video.
It works and in the street, you do not see it coming its fast, powerful accurate and takes the wind out of a lot people, that is the only point that matters.
Kagawa is AMAZING
@touretul Mae geri keage is a front snap kick, mae geri kekomi is a front thrust kick. Either can go to the face. Kekomi is more like a push kick, keage quickly snaps in and back.
love watching Kagawa in action

@dxj8625 @OXCerberusX0 Sensei Kagawa is a kyokushin-do karate-ka.
What style of karate is this?
esse car ensina bastante mesmo que seja em japones

Great
sorry for the inconvenience i think its ''JKS'' not ''JKA'''

he is into kyokushin i believe
Machida's style is a Shotokan brand that's been somewhat modified.

superb
@macrobioticman Wow...I wish you the best. Osu.

I belive this is Mae Geri Kekomi. Keage is by whiping to the face. Kekomi is by pushing. Same as Yoko Geri.
this and mawashi geri are fight enders.
2:18 SAI DAÍ
Nice

Vitor Belfort and Randy Couture disliked this video LOL :D
Why, there is nothing wrong with Kagawa's Mae geri. Very efective, I myself could take a lot of people down with mae geri.
1 person got a Mae Geri to the face!!
GOOD VIDEO :)
^^^
Shotokan.
If not then Randy Couture.
With all due respect, if it is in the face, it is not Mae Geri at all.
Then you haven't been in a fight with a Karateka :P
It's your ignorance that doesn't go a lot of damage.

It's not Muy Thai. It's a basic Karate kick.
Are you sure, that Karate don't do a lot of dammage? Then you haven't felt correct kick.
If you ever seen this sort of kick in movie its muay thai NOT karate because karate doesnt do alot of damage
Mrsal5. That is NOT Muay Thai and I think you know that lol.

As my sensei says, unless you want to push him back and run the objective of this kick is not to push, is to strike
