- Pro-Palestine protests turned violent in Washington, DC, on Wednesday, July 24, as thousands took to the streets to protest Israel’s actions in Gaza while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed Congress.
Video footage captured by journalist Brendan Gutenschwager shows the demonstrations escalating, beginning with the release of smoke bombs.
Protesters were then seen removing an American flag from the DC Union Station flagpole and setting it on fire.

I'm a moderate liberal. This is completely unacceptable. You have the right to peaceful protest in this country, but to burn the US flag and vandalize monuments with the name of a terrorist organization is disgusting. This country may not be perfect, but we are one of the most diverse groups of people on the face of the planet. That means that not everyone is going to agree about everything all the time. People are entitled to their viewpoints and opinions and that's okay, that's what makes this country so unique, we aren't homogenous like many other nations in the world. Before everything though, if you live here, work here, raise your family here, then you are an American. We are ALL Americans no matter where our ancestors came from, our parents came from, where we immigrated from or what political ideology we espouse. This sort of divisive behavior only pushes everyone further apart without providing an actual solution to an extremely complex issue that frankly most people are not informed enough about to have a constructive opinion on.
