I was significantly suffering from a TBI and my Nutritionist suggested Omegas to help recover. Within a week, I went from cognitively performing below average in many tests to performing at the top 95% in the same tests. It was like someone turned the light on in my brain again. The Doctors at the Ft. Bragg Post concussion center were shocked at the results. Never considering a holistic method in diet could have such a profound impact. I wish your findings were shared and utilized amongst the military community!
@@angieguss5556 Most experts say that anywhere between 250mg and 3000mg of omega-3s per day is safe and effective, so when picking a fish oil, check to see how much EPA and DHA it contains in total as opposed to the fish oil’s serving size. Omega-3 concentrations can vary between 30 and 90% depending on the fish oil product. Oils that have in a bit more EPA than DHA are generally considered to be the most balanced ratio-wise. You can also get an omega-3 index test done, and that will help you to know if you’re deficient or not.
This guy is a fish oil salesman! 😂 Seriously though, thank you for this, and your work. I have recently started supplementing fish oil for general health, but am glad to hear that it may help my TBI. We must completely change the way our healthcare system works, with many dangerous medications being pushed instead of safe and inexpensive treatments. 🙏
Does fish oil treat pesticide brain injury and immunodeficiency? I have 3/4 low gamma globulins, too. A lot of stress too. My husband is dead due to taking Avodart by Glaxo Smith Kline. Causes loneliness and stress.
I’m no expert, but I’d say that the omega-3s in fish oil might be helpful for anyone who is concerned about their brain health. Sports Research makes a very good product - rancidity is a problem with some fish oils - but you can get the same benefits from just eating fatty fish. You want to avoid fish that might have higher levels of pollutants like mercury or microplastics, so I’d suggest wild-caught salmon, sardines, and anchovies. Four servings of cold-water fish per week should be enough to make a positive difference. Two other nutrients worth considering for brain health are magnesium and lutein. If you want to give those a try, I’d say that 200-300mg of magnesium glycinate would be a good place to start, and then look for a lutein/zeaxanthin combo with about 20mg of lutein and 4mg of zeaxanthin. But, once again, you can get a lot of magnesium and lutein just from eating lots of dark, leafy greens. Constant stress can drain the body of important nutrients like magnesium or Vit. C, and that will ultimately leave you feeling very run down, so eating or supplementing the right way can help to turn things around. If you decide to supplement, always let your doctor know beforehand because supplements can interact negatively with medication. You take care of yourself. :-)

How much did you take? I find people recommending fish oil but never say how much to be effective. I have found very little help from it. Thank you

Thank you for helpful information. My drs never talked to me about TBI. Everything I have learned is from research.
