This item solves the problem of roof-up tents, which have to be folded up whenever you want to use the SUV to go somewhere. On the other hand, at $4,000(US) a pop, it folds up in seconds onto its own, wheeled, cart with trailer hitch - so easy to be stolen.
I hope they make a lock mechanism on the hinges, so you won't be able to fold it in.. that way you could easily leave it behind when visiting tourist sites.
Compelling! One major design flaw; an optional (zip in-zip out) vestibule so folks can stand up to change, stow light gear, enclose a portable toilet (not everybody can hold it all night). A vestibule or vestibules would make this much more usable and flexible.
You can keep it locked to your car. You don't have to take it of the tow bar. On top of that you would be driving around with the wrong license plate which would attract attention from the police. This is an European product and the extra license plate is required by law here.
Great concept, but you need to offer a vestibule/awning option. If it's raining, the interior is going to get wet as soon as you open one of the doors. I personally don't care if it is something I'll have to carry in the car, but the option is necessary. I'll hold off buying until that's available.
a bike rack from Thule is the base. You can buy those for 3 bikes for appr. 350€. Lets add 400 for the tent. Maybe 500. Which even is an expensive tent already. Now you know what the price should be.
For those wondering it costs 4000. For me it would be better to spend less than a thousand on an four person air tent, then buy the Thule tow hook box, about 900. I think there's a missed opportunity for an air structure tent powered off the cars 12 volt supply. Have it fold out automatically. Well maybe you can do that next time for the second generation model. Yes I have watched videos of it being folded and unfolded.
699,- is pain treshold. The basis is a bike rack which you can get from Thule for appr. 350 € capable of 3 bikes. This will appr. match the weight of a tent. The price without the bike carriers is even less. 350-400 left for the tent. So 700 should be enough imho.
Thats a great idea using the multiple power outlets in modern cars or even the big batteries of evs, to power up an air tent or supply energy to a modern tent.
The low clearance garage is what’s forcing me to consider something like this. I’d love a roof top tent, but with my limitations, this is looking attractive.
Besides the price - i really like this idea !! It combines a lot of advantages and erases disadvantages of a rooftop tent for example. A fast built tent wich doesn't waste space in your trunk, stands alone so u can drive away from campspot to town, supermarket etc., no issue with sleeping in tent when thunder etc. as with a rooftent. Better aerodynamics regarding fuel efficiency. No climbing up and down a ladder in darkness. U can probably drive faster than with a hitched caravan. Sure there is a difference in space combined to caravans etc but i like it more then a rooftent. Wich would be the one to be compared with in my opinion. Or any other fat tent that fills the trunk alone. Would be great if it is less expensive.. But we just need to wait some months until other brands copy this idea.... decathlon is watching. ^^ Good idea - bad price!

@@nils_on_wheels I feel like being in a metal tent that connects to the metal car sitting on thick rubber tires is basically a faraday cage lol. @@fuglong well... there's the problem in your theory. You are NOT in a metal tent. It is made of artificial material wich doesn't make you part of the faraday cage advantage underneath you. @@nils_on_wheels well I personally would be lol, the Thule approach is a metal frame with multiple metal poles. Idk if that really makes a difference though lol
Good idea. But this tent seems to me far too heavy and not weatherproof. In case of rain, as soon as the door is opened, rain will come in. Or water will remain on the flat roof. My advice. Try to create a round roof with a protected entrance. Use lightweight materials. Or sell only the platform on which an existing tent can be put.
Does your tent include a stretcher and mattress? People are comparing it to regular tents, when it's actually a roof tent that is connected differently to your car.
I like the idea, I feel the execution is not workable. You could buy an air tent that sleeps 6 for less than 1,000, and then your Thule tow hook box for 1000 Pop the tent in the box, bingo save 2000. Just for people reading this they want 4000 for it. I think this product would be better valued at about 1,500 to 1,800.

@@AndyHutchinsons Don't I have the right to express my opinion? Here it is. For me it's worthless.
