Your squadron mates will throw in random bits of individual backstory in a seeming attempt to providing some depth; unfortunately, the comments have almost zero relation to whats going on, and add little to the story.

I feel like there is an unspoken, unspecified, completely ignored upgrade to this particular squadron’s ties just for titan squadron…. Possibly by unknowingly copying the diy style of the rebels for upgrades all based from the home star destroyer - they do have garages and maintenance bays on those things … Minus that…. Would have been perhaps more tie fighter esk to instead upgrade the flimsy fighters with extreme jamming equipment to ruin rebel targeting - forcing rebels to try and get on tie tails to get a clean shot minimizing the chance even for potentially fatal glancing shots meanwhile if the tie pilots are smart, they would avoid head on passes and instead sprit around to rebel tails playing to the fast and loud style of the Tie
I mean, really, 1:18:31 where we meet the cool guys. On a serious note though, the Imperial part of the campaign in my opinion was way better done. For example, all Imperial characters have better backstories: - Grey is a veteran, calm and collected and having seen what war is and what it can cost. A great leader who inspires his subordinates and lifts them up. He accumulated a lot of experience and knowledge which he is more than willing to pass on to others, and is looking forward to the end of the conflict. - Sol is the daughter of senators, having firmly been raised under Imperial ideals, is a completely loyal, and a strategic member. She is willing to do anything in order to secure her family's vision regarding Empire's future. This is proven by her unflinching belief in victory during battle, even at unfavorable odds. - Shen is also a veteran, although less lucky. He has seen a lot of combat, maybe even more than Grey, and it has taken a toll on him both physically and mentally. Realizing his appearance would offset any chance of retiring and living in a social environment, he walks the only path where he fits in: war. - Havina (Vonreg) is the daughter of a noble family, having lost her brothers who served in the 181st, losses which could have been prevented. This made Havina a no nonsense individual, resenting bureaucratic leaders who don't care about the cost of a victory, and has a deep hatred for Rebels. She also very quick to lose her cool. Dialogue between them was also much better written. Compare this to characters who were racing pilots.
I agree that the Imperial pilots were well done, but I personally prefer the Rebels. Frisk was pretty fun to talk to, and I liked that Gunny is like the "Big Momma" of the squad. I also liked how Keo is force-sensitive, but she admits she's not at the level she could consider becoming a Jedi. They just seemed more lively than the Imperials to me. Personal preference, I guess.
@@quentinsilver4721 yep. Wonder if she's actually the mother of Elrik, or just a relative. Given that she said most of her brothers died above Brentaal IV, it could very well be the case.
I don't consider it better, the characters on both sides have some interesting backstories and different personalities, the difference is only how they treat you. Imperials are more like colleagues doing the job with passion, rebels are more like your friends on a mission.
Swtor, but I get where your coming from. Would be nice to have a game with 2020 graphics. Although, toying around with the graphics card and applying a shit ton of shaders is close to 2020 graphics.

I'm kinda sad there is no pick just empire, or just the rebellion choice I feel like they missed a good opportunity for a bigger kinda ending where the pilot you pick fights off against the other pilot you customize in a final grand battle, instead we get a kinda wish woshy ending where the rebellion is the final one you play as... still fun time at least I'll give it that.
The end could have been a lot more interesting. They could have given the player the choice to fight either as Titan or Vanguard in a final mission after you actually kill Lindon and having you dogfight your opposite character in a final confrontation to the death.
“Wow, an Imperial victory! The traitor is dead, the super weapon has been destroyed, the Republic actually has suffered a defeat here!.... for all of ten seconds, looks like the traitor is alive and the super weapons explosion takes out four Star Destroyers, the good guys just can’t lose!” Christ, what I wouldn’t give for an clear cut Imperial win, it’s been ages since Empire Strikes Back.

@@GeneralKenobi75 No. Many Star Wars fans just don’t want a one-sided story. The big picture will only ever be half if every single time, the Rebels win. There is no tension if that’s the case. There is no engagement or a sense of accomplishment if their journey and destination are already a surefire victory.
If I'm being honest, I would rather have preferred more separate campaigns instead of having to switch between Rebels and Imperials. I just want to remain on the Empire side. I much preferred the moments spent with Titan Squadron. EDIT: That doesn't mean I condone the Empire's ideology, but merely that I enjoy exploring stories and characters from a 'darker' side of Star Wars
were getting there at least this time we didn't switch sides, but I feel you, I think what everyone wants is a Star Wars Empire game, were the empire doesn't really look like the bad guys, I mean even with Titan squadron everyone felt like the antagonists.
@@JRDShamrock I personally didn't really see Titan Squadron as simply 'antagonists' or simply 'evil'. Grey is a disciplined and responsible leader of his team, as we also saw in the cinematic 'Hunted'. He is even friendly and a tiny bit witty when he welcomes Titan 3. Sol wants to see the Empire reestablish the Senate, so the Galaxy can have a more stable and competent political system - rather than Palpatine's "absolute rule". She's also a reliable squad mate along the whole campaign. So she's not just a regular Tie grunt, but a woman who fights in order to make the Empire better (from her perspective) Shen is the strong and quiet (or straightforward) warrior type, who never backs down from fighting on, even while his body barely hangs on through cybernetics. Vonreg on the other hand can be put into that box, but I think a lot of past events made her in to the vicious killer she is. For one she has felt personally betrayed by seeing even former friends leaving her to join the Rebellion, and she also lost most of her former squad mates during the battle of Endor. However, she will fight hard for and alongside her fellow Titans. But of course, I am not here to deny or defend the Imperials skewed ethics or their preference for authoritarian rule over the Galaxy. But I think it's good, to sometimes see a more nuanced view of the two warring factions in Star Wars, and that it isn't simply black and white. Many Imperials were mostly just regular people, who fought for the Empire because they believed it provided them with the best opportunities, security, order and prosperity. However, that's not meant to excuse evil acts, but to point out that not every Imperial was an evil cartoon villain. I will admit however, that I prefer the aesthetics of the Empire rather than the Rebels. But ultimately yes, give a proper Empire story that shows a more nuanced look, rather than another Iden Versio... A good story driven Thrawn game would be a + in my book.

I love seeing the contrast between the relationships between the pilots I love that the rebels care and look out for one another, but the TIE pilots as well as the Empire as a whole do have a lot of respect for each other because their relationships tend to be a lot more superficial and a lot more self-serving than actually being genuine

It's good but I expected better, is it so hard for EA to make a Star Wars game where we fight for the empire only? Or at least give us the choice to fight for any faction we want?
Just play KOTOR then. Also, kinda hard to justify fighting for the Empire when almost every single piece of media they're in shows them being hilariously evil, treacherous, murderous bastards. They're fundamentally a callous ideology. Some is early access, but on Steam its allowing for a "pre-load" which I guess either lets you play a day early or lets you play the second of its mainstream release.
Yeah, they sometimes let the RUclips Channels like this Early Access to farm the Cutscenes together and release them to help drive a conversation and the story of the universe. It does marketing wonders, because seeing this, is very different to playing it yourself and they're banking on that mentality.
I like that the imperial characters have some sort of distinct personalities to them, but at the end of the day, it still feels like they're bad guys, only bad guys with some different flavors. I like most of Titan Squadron (as opposed to Frisk being the only cool character for Vanguard) but I hate to see star wars still painted as purely black and white. It just isn't entertaining and it's certainly not realistic. I even liked Captain Kerrell but she also clearly gave off that "empire bad" vibe. Can we stop with the evil imperial characters?
They don't really look evil when you compare them to other imperial characters though. Maybe they sound like it at certain moments, but when you listen to their dialogue during non-combat, it's not a black and white picture at all. Grey even vocally expresses he isn't sure about the methods that the Empire uses at one point, but he ultimately thinks the empire is the only government that can bring order to the galaxy. And if those methods work and save imperial lives, then he is all for it. His background as a cop means he's seen a lot of bad stuff, and he points out that the red tape preventing him from arresting killers and smugglers was one of the reasons why he joined up; to make a difference. Shen is a very neutral character. He just doesn't know any life other than being a fighter pilot. Sol is also a person who thinks the empire is needed to bring order to the galaxy. Sure, she might sound like a snake by always mentioning how titles get you influence, but that's because she comes from a family that had a big presence in politics. And she isn't wrong either. I highly doubt the New Republic senate would be any different. Vonreg acts like a bloodthirsty killer, but that's only towards those who deserve it; traitors who caused suffering for her friends. Don't forget that she had to watch a lot of her former squadron die to rebel pilots. In her case, it's just a matter of vengeance. Captain Kerril is the same in that regard, but on the other hand, she simply does what is required of her. Her former squadron leader's betrayal hit her hard on a personal level, and effectively stonewalled her career progress. She even displays good traits like cooperation and concern for her fellow imperials, and is very supportive of Titan Three, going to the point to even praise the pilot's accomplishments directly to Sloane. She knows the pilot also suffered because of the betrayal, and wants the best for her/him. Whenever she acts "evil", it's mostly because of her anger directed at Javes or incompetent and selfish officers. Destroying civilian transports for example may seem horrible to us, but that's the empire's strategy; simple as that. Besides, there's no clear "geneva convention" that tells us what is a warcrime in the Star Wars universe either. What stood out to me during the attack on the dockyards, was Hera asking Kerril to spare the "civilians/engineers' on the unarmed transports. In this scenario, I think Kerril made the right choice. Those transports were being escorted by rebel corvettes, and a dockyard is a military facility; not a civilian one. In other words, the people on those transports were clearly affiliated with the rebels, and wanted to escape a battle. You're not just going to allow the enemy to do that. Sorry for the long rant; didn't really mean to do that. Just wanted to say it's not black and white at all, and the imperial characters have actual motivations this time around.
@@TESkyrimizer Yeah I meant like it wouldn't be realistic for the common Imperial soldier or pilot to be as villainous as the likes of Palpatine or Tarkin. I mean, look at Lost Stars as evidence of Imperials who joined for a good cause
The real issue is that you are talking about showing 'good' in a faction known for its genocidal, civilian murdering, mustache twirling corrupt villains who make it a habit of ruining lives. Clearly the rebels aren't all filled with bright eyed hopeful innocents youths, and the Empire isn't crewed by ALL evil, but they pretty much made it their standard to be bad. Its really hard to paint them in a good light without introducing enemies that you WANT to hate. Now, if they gave us an Imperial set of missions where we are doing what the Empire was SUPPOSE to be doing (dealing with pirates, terrorists, unsympathetic rebels, and other criminal scum), then they could actually come off as a firm but understandable faction. I actually ran a SW RPG where the players were Imperial, and changed a few things so that, at least this section of the Empire, was pragmatic and usually ignored the entire 'Tarkin Doctrine' because it was stupid and would lead to problems. They got to be legit heroes and they enjoyed that, because they never had to worry about killing refugee groups, or ripping apart planets with satellites. They got to fight enemies that the average person could feel good about fighting. Sadly no Star Wars game has yet embraced that particular idea. If they gave us Rebels we could hate, Commanders we could like, and missions where we feel like we are doing more than trying to kick puppy dogs, then you could have a good Imperial Campaign.
Still not overly impressed with Disney's take on Star Wars. But I'm an old school Legends supporter. I'll grant that the tv shows, both animated and live, have been good for the most part, but otherwise I find the story and characters rather dry and uninteresting.

Either way, I started writing to make sure you knew that nowadays you can hop in a Defender in all of the multiplayer modes. This was implemented a couple of months after your first comment.
I feel like there is an unspoken, unspecified, completely ignored upgrade to this particular squadron’s ties just for titan squadron…. Possibly by unknowingly copying the diy style of the rebels for upgrades all based from the home star destroyer - they do have garages and maintenance bays on those things …
Minus that….
For example, all Imperial characters have better backstories:
- Grey is a veteran, calm and collected and having seen what war is and what it can cost.
Very well said
I agree that the Imperial pilots were well done, but I personally prefer the Rebels.
Also, Havina seems to be an ancestor to Major Elrik Vonreg, who is a First Order tie fighter pilot that we see in Resistance. full circle!
I'm still waiting for a Star Wars game where we can play strictly as the Empire.

@@arrowheadwaterbottle6815 Honestly? I’m severely tempted. I’m not one for mmo’s, not a big multiplayer guy, and I usually go good in decision making games, can’t help it. Why? You want the people who casually murder innocents to win?
@@GeneralKenobi75 No. Many Star Wars fans just don’t want a one-sided story. The big picture will only ever be half if every single time, the Rebels win. There is no tension if that’s the case. There is no engagement or a sense of accomplishment if their journey and destination are already a surefire victory.
Keyan Farlander, that is a name I have not heard for a long time. ( I played X-Wing back in 1991) and I am in my forties now.
Considering that it didn't come out until 1993 that is pretty impressive.
What, no Ace Azameen, too?
Not a bad story to see both sides of the war.
Agreed
were getting there at least this time we didn't switch sides, but I feel you, I think what everyone wants is a Star Wars Empire game, were the empire doesn't really look like the bad guys, I mean even with Titan squadron everyone felt like the antagonists.
So she's not just a regular Tie grunt, but a woman who fights in order to make the Empire better (from her perspective)
Shen is the strong and quiet (or straightforward) warrior type, who never backs down from fighting on, even while his body barely hangs on through cybernetics.
I agree
Though I wanted to spend all of my time with the Rebels and Vanguard Squadron instead of having to play those imperial missions as well....

It would be hell to open blast doors one by one to clear an entire star destroyer after they get it to a safe location. Iden Versio is actually mentioned in this campaign? thats cool, considering how fast she defected
You're very good at doing stuff like this thank you happy holidays by the way👍😁
2:06:40 OHHHHH A VENATOR anyone know the lore how it wrecked
Probably left over from the clone wars
RIP The Clone Wars ! this easter better than the game
Thats a joke great game but I love to see Empire win JUST ONE TIME
@@darthshark4889 Yeah same too or just a mention of Commander Wolffe or Rex
@Kato Ho Ten Soeng Thank you for your correction 🙏🔥
@Kato Ho Ten Soeng They should have taken out the shipyards, the ending was atrocious, they just left and for some reason "Somehow, Lindon returned" when he crashed into the ship??
No joystick, so can only watch. Thanks for uploading.
LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE AND GLORY TO TITAN SQUADRON!!!!!!
EVERYTHING IS JUST PERFECT 👌!!!
However, the skin texture, hair, fur, facial expression, and fabrics of clothes - are still a Holly Graal for even so much sophisticated CGI technology....
This game took the meaning "playing on both sides" quite literally. Wouldn't you say?
I had a gamebreaking bug on the last mission
thanks for uploading!
It’s folk like Hera that I’m with the New Republic, aka Space America. Nothing like helping a hopeful widow create a decent Galaxy for it’s now fatherless Son. 😇
Hell yeah, the new republic has good reasons to join them, Hera is one of them 😏😂
@Silverknight171 no, she's not
The Dark Knight I’m glad to see her again
Space America Is More like the republic
Game looks really good like the movies! Much better and fun than the previous ones.
From 3:30:00 on was a total immersion break. Like wtf he was crashing into everything 😂
🤙🏾🤙🏾 Keep it up Fam ✊🏾
Wait i thought it came out tomorrow, did you get early access?
Some is early access, but on Steam its allowing for a "pre-load" which I guess either lets you play a day early or lets you play the second of its mainstream release.
Rodrick Lindsey Oh, alright, thx
Yeah, they sometimes let the RUclips Channels like this Early Access to farm the Cutscenes together and release them to help drive a conversation and the story of the universe. It does marketing wonders, because seeing this, is very different to playing it yourself and they're banking on that mentality.
smoketinytom Thats pretty smart of them.
@@smoketinytom Interesting....
this is a reboot of X-wing vs. tie fighter! holy crap!!!! i love it so far! they redid the story, redid everything and its sooo sooo much better XD
Is it just me or did they look at the New Republic and tell themselves "We're going to cram so much diversity in this bad boy."
They even did it with the Empire. 😢
@Ghufran
I think Nick Georgiev means the meta of it. As in, the real world... implications of all this 'diversity,' if you catch my meaning.
Captain Amos!
Hearing the narrator from TCW (and Yularen and 4X) felt nice ^^
bruh hera and keo are baddies man😳🥵😩❤️
Holy crap I'm first
Notification gang!
@@generalofchaos5174 when you put it that way, I guess it makes sense
They're imperials who stuck around after Alderaan, Endor, _and_ Operation Cinder. Of course they're bad people.
Best star wars battle scenes
I don’t care what ANYBODY says. Vader sounds MENACING.
Still not overly impressed with Disney's take on Star Wars. But I'm an old school Legends supporter. I'll grant that the tv shows, both animated and live, have been good for the most part, but otherwise I find the story and characters rather dry and uninteresting.
I'm not hating but someday i hope we can get a game where it focuses entirely on being a soldier for the Empire from both on foot, vehicle and etc.
That was what the original battlefront 2 campaign was
Nothing will be even close to the greatness Rebel Assault II was.
