Celebrating Holi in Mathura and Vrindavan needs courage. Hats off to you guys for going there and celebrating it. I hope Aisling did not face harassment of any kind. People with bad intensions are every where so bad things can happen. I can see you guys enjoyed and had lots of fun.
Mathura was a lot more enjoyable than Vrindavan, it was very intense. In both places was met alot of very nice and a few bad apples as we said but nothing we couldn't handle thankfully It was an experience like no other and we are so glad we went!
You just need to be careful of people playing holi after drinking alchohol because they forget all limit ofcourse they are less in comparison to the good ones .

i think foreigners esp women should choose the places carefully, and also be informed about options like "private Holi" and street Holi, and former is much safer and controlled less crowded and certainly more fun with dancing and herbal safe colors and sweets and BHANG .
Being a foreigner you may not imagine how much varieties of celebration are in Bharat for a Single festival like holi, etc, and the celebratory way varies city to city & state to state. In nutshell - the teared cloth you saw that's just a common thing in almost all those methods of Holi celebration. Mind you that cloth tearing only done with men, you don't get naked completely, neither is done for women/girls. I would recommend trying you Gobar Holi next time. You'll thank me for your healthy skin aftermath.
I am glad and scared at the same time. Glad because you got to experience first hand the authentic holi festivity amidst a large crowd and scared because it takes a single person to spoil everything. Every basket of apples has a bad apple in it and India has the largest population in the world currently overtaking china which means you are more likely to encounter bad apples. Luckily nothing happened.

The only problem arises in the evenings when some people got drunk and do unpleasant things .... You should just take care of yourselves that time .. Otherwise this is a really good festival.. Specially in Parade Grounds Not just Narrow street on Roads .... I hope you enjoyed the festival
We decided it was best to leave before people got drunk and it got dark. We have great memories from this day and we did not want to spoil this by staying out too late

The only problem arises in the evenings when some people got drunk and do unpleasant things ....
You should just take care of yourselves that time ..
Otherwise this is a really good festival..
Specially in Parade Grounds
Not just Narrow street on Roads ....

We decided it was best to leave before people got drunk and it got dark. We have great memories from this day and we did not want to spoil this by staying out too late
In mathura no one drink for playing because religious place . But who know drunk people
