Hudson's downtown was a wonderful store, especially at Christmas. It is so sad to see what Detroit has become and to realize that it is gone forever.

Oh yes! My mom worked there on the 7th Floor in the fur department on the T.O.B., telephone order board, or what is known these days as CSR(Customer service representative). During Christmas week off from school, I would take my money I received as gifts & buy a few things at the downtown store & meet my mom for lunch up on the 13th Floor. She would also buy that Maurice Dressing & use it on our salads at home. Going to Hudson's downtown was always an event, especially at Christmas time. My mom even got me a job there working in the fur storage vault after I left high school. She cried when she saw them tear Hudson's down.

my grandma worked at the downtown hudson's store just about the same time this lady did... she worked in the cash receiving area in the 2nd basement with the cash tubes and was a gift wrapper at christmas time.

I can't beleive that all great things have to end. Detroit will never be what it once was.

The GREATEST era of American retail-when department stores were palaces fit for retail Kings-and Mr.J.L.Hudson of Detroit,Michigan was CERTAINLY one of them-as were his Successors-The Webber Brothers! They don’t make stores or store owners-the way they used to!😢

If I live to be 200 years old, I will never forget that chicken pot pie.
