Returned them after having them for 3 days. They feel premium in general, but don't feel hardy - I'd worry about breaking them. My biggest issue was lack of volume/bass. Sony xm5 buyer - dosen’t hurt your head Amazing sound quality and noise cancellation. I tried out both in the stores before purchasing. The AirPod maxes sound identical to the Pro 2s and a good sound level leaks. ( my sister also has the APMs - so I was able to compare them long term) The no fold feature is not significant enough for you to decide to get the XM4s instead. Excessive folding caused breakage in my xm4s also the size difference isn’t barely evident when folded and not folded. If size is your concern get the little AirPods and don’t buy overhead headphones in the first place
I'm don't agree at all wit sound quality in what they did well... It's good, yes, but WAY too bassy and it muffles the myds... The Sennheiser Momentum 4 have a great sound quality for sure ! (My reference headphones are the Focal Bathys and Focal Celestee)
I just bought a pair about two months ago. They’re wonderful! Great, adjustable sound quality, wonderful noise cancellation! No problems with the headband even on my huge head. I just adjust them looser. I upgraded from Bose Quiet Comfort. Wow! What a wonderful difference!
saying theyre $400 is slightly misleading. MSRP yes $400 however every single website that sells them is less sometimes even less then $300 all im saying is if youre looking to buy these shop around because you can get them for alot cheaper then $400 easily
Yup! Just grabbed them from Costco for $310. Wore them the entire day from Minneapolis to Rome. Comfortable, blocked out virtually all the airplane noise, and power stayed at 100%. Worth every penny
My daily headphones are the B&o h95 and their sound quality is unbeliever but their price tag is aswell but it is something I want to invest in since artists use so much money to produce sound and I wanted to listen it to it fullest
I just tried my friends and I have AirPods Max and had Boses 700s last year. These Sony’s beat them both out the water. For comfort, sound quality, mic, battery life, and even connectivity. Def the best headphones out in the market !
I actually prefer the non folding design. Less moving parts, and the headphones don’t creak or squeak at all. While the case is wide, it’s pretty thin, which makes it easier to pack in my backpack vs a wider, more bulbous case…but I guess that depends on how you carry your stuff. Clamping force for me was SNUG at first. But a few days having them mounted on a shoe box and they’re extremely comfortable. IMO, a great, albeit pricey, option for anyone in the market for ANC cans. The only set I like more are the Momentum 4s.
THEY HAVE 30 MILLIMETER DRIVERS THEY SUUUUUUCK THEY ARE ALSO BIGGER HEADPHONES. AND WIDER ON YOUR FACE.. THEY NEED TO MAKE THEM NOT PROTRUDE OUT SO MUCH And what you said about liking the non-folding design better is such a stupid argument when they literally could actually design them better with metal hinges instead like aluminum so it would never break over time instead so what they did was used cheap plastic but arguing for a non folding headband is even more stupid when they could just use a folding headband with metal Parts instead but since it's Sony they cheap out on everything
@@CocoKoi321 sounds like you’re bitter about Sony’s design language. Might want to look elsewhere for a new set of cans. Sony may not be for you. And a flat, non folding design isn’t stupid if it fits how you pack your gear, like it does for me. Even if they were both made of titanium, less moving parts is always better and will be a more durable design over time. Chill out man…it’s not that serious. They’re just headphones lol. IEMs sound better anyway.
Why don't you talk about the microphone quality? It's the best! It can suppress any background noise and will just let your voices through with crisp clarity. It can even pick up your whispers. So be careful before you whisper something crazy about the guy on the call 😂
one of the reasons the sound quality is so good is because they don't fold. They don't have to worry about the hinges interfering with the speaker drivers, which would bump the sound quality down or the price up for them to resolve together
Sound quality is the best I've heard on headphones but the cup pads feel uncomfortable after a few hours. I replaced mine with thicker ones with velour material from Aliexpress and now it's perfect.
Have XM3s, earpads and headband material has deteriorated pretty badly and alot of the time turnoff a couple seconds after turning off without a poweroff sound, XM5s will be the next headphones to get this Christmas

I have the 3’s for years just upgraded/ordered the 5’s not for the sound but because the constant folding of the 3’s eventually broke the left side ear, I decided not to go with the 4’s and to give the 5’s a shot, I doubt I’d notice that much difference in sound from the 4’s I’m no audiophile, I’m just hoping the not folding will make them last longer… Price difference not that much now as the 6’s will probably be out 2025.. we’ll see how they last, I’m not exactly delicate on my headphone I tend to chuck them around, I do use them at work and at home so I get a lot of use out of my headphones…
I felt like the xms5 was kind of loose. I use mine while working on a commercial fishing boat. The xms4 are a way better fit, and I could barely tell the difference. I wanted the xms5, too they were just way too loose.
been using de xm4 for a year and I absolutely love them. The only problem I found is that around 3 hours of continuous use the headband hurts a tat but it's as simply as moving them a little bit to the front or back.
@@AfkboiiiI probably wouldn’t. I’ve had mine since they came out and besides them not being sweat resistant it seems to move around a lot when bending over

if u got hair like me u good. i dont feel a thing on the top of my head and they are super duper light weight and comfortable. i used them for gaming and listening to music that doesnt need base and with music with base i just switch to the crusher evos.
I'm almost in full agreement, although I haven't experienced issues with the headband which probably speaks to my head shape /size. I do also think the sound is great but only after adjustments in the Sony app. They certainly aren't great out of the box in my opinion.
Odd. It didn't have any top hed pressure like you said it would. You also mentioned that it is very lightweight. And yes, the sound quality is good which is your number 1 consideration for buying headphones anyway
I have zero problems with the headband. It feels so much lighter than the xm3's which hurt me a little after long hours and I really do not mind about them not being foldable since I constantly have mine on anyway.
Should I buy the xm5 or the xm4 model? They both cost the same here and I want an overall good headphone for music/studying/gaming/general use. I also want something that is more durable, something that lasts longer. I also don't really travel much. But I do really like ANC/Transparency.

Amazing sound quality and noise cancellation. I tried out both in the stores before purchasing. The AirPod maxes sound identical to the Pro 2s and a good sound level leaks. ( my sister also has the APMs - so I was able to compare them long term)
The no fold feature is not significant enough for you to decide to get the XM4s instead.
The band doesn’t make your head hurt!
I just bought a pair about two months ago. They’re wonderful! Great, adjustable sound quality, wonderful noise cancellation! No problems with the headband even on my huge head. I just adjust them looser. I upgraded from Bose Quiet Comfort. Wow! What a wonderful difference!
Hinge broke a week ago. Brought them 9 month ago. Now googling what glue is best for repairs 😢. For that price, I expected they'd be more durable
The thin headband is barely noticeable, aesthetically it's much cleaner looking.
saying theyre $400 is slightly misleading.
You can’t go wrong with the B&O H95 though, probably close to being the best sounding wireless headphones on the market.
How long will they last? Like how many years/months before the battery and quality starts to deteriorate
@@shaza3686 I've owned it for 2 years now and they still seems like they held up
I just tried my friends and I have AirPods Max and had Boses 700s last year.
THEY NEED TO MAKE THEM NOT PROTRUDE OUT SO MUCH
And what you said about liking the non-folding design better is such a stupid argument when they literally could actually design them better with metal hinges instead like aluminum so it would never break over time instead so what they did was used cheap plastic but arguing for a non folding headband is even more stupid when they could just use a folding headband with metal Parts instead but since it's Sony they cheap out on everything
Just got a pair of these and l absolutely love them , comfortable and lightweight
Yeah the thin headband really hurt my head too actually after some time.. had to return it.😢
Sound quality is the best I've heard on headphones but the cup pads feel uncomfortable after a few hours.
I replaced mine with thicker ones with velour material from Aliexpress and now it's perfect.
You mustn’t of listened to many top quality headphones then?!
Have XM3s, earpads and headband material has deteriorated pretty badly and alot of the time turnoff a couple seconds after turning off without a poweroff sound, XM5s will be the next headphones to get this Christmas
I have not had any issues with the headband, it’s quite comfy
The headband is adjustable don't worry about that, im a xm5 user
I bought a pair on black Friday for $229.00 at the Navy exchange. They are worth at least $500.00
Minnesota tactical
They look comfortable
I had the XM3 and bought these, gave the old ones to my brother and he loves them. I wish I didn’t do that…
The size is fine but the headband is really, strangely messed up
folding them up resulted in multiple people's units being broken..... overall a better design imo
I haven’t tried any xms but honestly my space q45s from soundcore are so comfortable and have such good sound quality and noise cancellation for $150 that I don’t think it’s worth trying
Just got them, the head band is ok for having it for like 3 hours straight from there u can start feeling little pressure on top of the head from them but other then that worth the money i spent, usin for the gym
just buy ANY audiophile closed back, they'll blow these out of the water in terms of sound quality
It's more the ANC, their commute headphones, not sit down headphones. Different use cases
No shit
But also, if you customize the eq to your liking they sound audiophile quality... Imo my xm4s sound sooo good with my custom eq!! And so freaking wide, the soundstage is wide a f
Are you also using them for working out or is this not recommended?
@@AfkboiiiI probably wouldn’t. I’ve had mine since they came out and besides them not being sweat resistant it seems to move around a lot when bending over
I wear these 6h straight when I fly. They don’t hurt at all. I guess that depends on your head form. My head is quite big btw
They are insane, i have it on right now
Dude you can still get the XM4 for $350 if you are stuck on them. These are a new beast.. 8 mics and audio and Bluetooth beamforming on carbon fiber high end drivers.. they are amazing quality.
I just got the XM4 the other day for $248, very nice.
I just had the Beats Studio pros and these just feel better overall.
if u got hair like me u good. i dont feel a thing on the top of my head and they are super duper light weight and comfortable. i used them for gaming and listening to music that doesnt need base and with music with base i just switch to the crusher evos.
Just purchased them on Amazon for same day delivery… only reason was because my xm4’s broke. I was not too happy about that..
I'm watching this from my computer
what? same ig??
I'm almost in full agreement, although I haven't experienced issues with the headband which probably speaks to my head shape /size. I do also think the sound is great but only after adjustments in the Sony app. They certainly aren't great out of the box in my opinion.
sound quality is just as good as other good headphones.
i have a big head and ears and the xm4 really hurt my ears since they were pinched by the earcup but i’ve never had an issue with this headband
The sound quality is terrible. No excuses.
Found a pair for 89$ at a pawn shop so I'm more than satisfied with them 😌
Odd. It didn't have any top hed pressure like you said it would. You also mentioned that it is very lightweight. And yes, the sound quality is good which is your number 1 consideration for buying headphones anyway
Should I buy xm3 or xm4?
For me personally the design is perfect
I have zero problems with the headband. It feels so much lighter than the xm3's which hurt me a little after long hours and I really do not mind about them not being foldable since I constantly have mine on anyway.
One says they are great, others say they are the Worst… gosh
I haven’t heard anyone say they are the worst, one video I saw people hating on it but still put it as the second best headphone, so yea it’s weird
Should I buy the xm5 or the xm4 model? They both cost the same here and I want an overall good headphone for music/studying/gaming/general use.
I also want something that is more durable, something that lasts longer. I also don't really travel much. But I do really like ANC/Transparency.
are they good for gaming?
Definitely worth it I had the Beats Studio pro and they were so uncomfortable so happy I made the switch 🤞🏽
Same issue for me. I returned them and got the pro max. I take comfort over marginal sound quality.
How good is it for music, please? I don't care much about voice calls as I am looking for a headphones which performs well in music
if i now has no headphone would you recommend the mx5 ? or should i go for the xm4
Sony makes awesome headphones, have a pair of WH910N’s I absolutely love, they sound great and insane NC
