One issue I've had with doom games that is in the grand scheme while minor can have a huge gameplay impact is the doom engines rng damage, so for example the average damage can be a flat value but it can also fluctuate to be above or below that. It could be very possible in this game play he constantly got low rolls for damage. I'm not at all a build engine expert but all the knowledge I have of it comes from Civvie 11 and Decino. Civvie himself has a full video on hexen
Cleric is weak in the very beginning, but very strong later. His first pickup weapon has a life drain in melee range, which helps him survive, but isn't very powerful offensively. In the late game, he has a lot of healing power and his ultimate weapon is ridiculously OP, so he absolutely steamrolls enemies.
@@TheMisterGuy I bet you didn't know this.. The first dungeons and Dragons game ever made was called chainmail and it only had three characters that you could choose from. Fighter cleric and mage. When we think of clerics today in RPG video games we think of healers but in chainmail back in the 70s the cleric only had two healing spells. the first one, cure minor wounds wasn't any good and the second one cure major wounds you didn't get till the end of the game. It was supposed to be a fighter that could use a little magic like burning hands.. Creators of this game I believe were heavily influenced by the white box chainmail This actually is the perfect representation of what the cleric is supposed to be.. The character with abilities between a fighter and mage.
@@joshuasharrock466 Thanks, I didn't know those details. I remember the original D&D where all weapons did equal damage but daggers were fast, so they were effectively the best weapons in the game, and I think Hobbit was a character class. My preferred version of a cleric class in these games is more like World of Warcraft, but more varied. My idea is that the religion the cleric belongs to is of great importance, so some might be armor-wearing, mace-wielding battle priests, but others could be masters of natural powers (entangling roots, sticks to snakes, etc.) or deal with poison/medicine, or possibly even extend into Asian "monk" territory with pressure-point healing and unarmored kung fu fighting styles that use inexpensive weapons like a staff or a weighted chain. But anyway, that's cool about Chainmail, I really don't know a lot about it other than the name.
There is multiple ways to do it, it's fairly easy. Make sure you are using a compatible engine such as vanilla hexen or chocolate hexen. Then hug the grid, build momentum on it and slide against it while jumping on and off the decoration. You should be able to go through.
@@jcd_ns thank you for the quick reply. I have the HD remaster. there are really a lot of mods. I'll search the settings. I like to enjoy the game classically, but I'd like to be able to do that
such an awesome game, lovely gameplay too. Thanks mate!
I find it interesting that Hexen's version of the engine seems to be more friendly to void glides and clips than Doom's.
That cleric final weapon, is the most broken, and badass weapon of any game made, ever.
That was a great run! Well done friend! Ill be watching all your videos now!
Great work!
This is pretty incredible
I’m right on your tail, I got under 2 hours…
16:10 Those water snakes are Stalker lords, the weaker ones just Stalkers :-)
Amazing
Best game Like
OH yes. Hexen pc 486
Maybe it's the settings I don't understand, but the cleric seems much weaker than I remember.
