Not many have the mindset of seeing value in discarded "pieces of pipe". One man's trash can just be the next man's new addition to his cross member. 😁 My "junk pile" has a lot of different "pieces of pipe" items that I tuck away for future use. It's always handy when you can go digging through your pile and just happen to have a bar, bracket, coil spring to forge new tools out of.
One neighbor was going to take a 38" mtd mowing deck with brackets to the dump when I offered to save him a trip. 6 months later his dad came over needing a 1/2" pin for his Toro mower deck after it fell out in the yard. What do you know, the bucket of mtd parts had a slightly longer pin I cut down and drilled for the hairpin. Many times that "junk pile" as others refer to it has saved the day. Same neighbor donated his 38" Poulan tractor to me as it didn't run. After a rewire eliminating bad safety switches, carb change, new belts and sharpening the blades, it was blazing through the lawn cutting grass. He had the look of wanting it back. 😢
I ended up scoring a 3n1 30" wide brake, roller and shear machine that the cast iron shear table was cracked in half for the price of scrap. I built a replacement table out of plate and bar, made some better brass bushings to replace the steel ones and did a bunch of adjustments to get it to cut and bend consistently. Scrap yard owner was surprised how it turned out and I also made a few "loose fingers here" prevention guards for a couple of his machines using the brake. Anyways, like your style in seeing value in objects and making something out of nothing.

You gotta love plasma cutters until they stop working. I had a problem with my mig for some time. took it to a repair place and it turns out the wire keeps jumping out of the wheel feed. All fixed now and welding like a champ. Great video hope to see how your cruise goes.
