- Here is a little video comparison between the two of my favourite tenor mouthpieces so far. Let me know which one would you choose.

You sound very good on both mouthpieces. But to answer your question, I like the Otto Link Florida more. I think it has got more timbre.
A very good demonstration, many thanks!
I personally like the Otto Link Florida better. I like this broad, sonorous sound.
Ottolink is my pick , beautiful body of sound full and creamy!
Thanks, I had it refaced by Phil Engleman two months ago and now it plays much better.
The vandoren sounds better than the otto link which I think wasn't bright enough! It's got a more balanced sound!
I'm alway surprised how bright the Florida pieces are, and I have 2 of them. I always think of Links as dark, but not those.
Yeah thats why I love Florida Links - much more versatile than modern ones.
It is very clear that the vandoren is brighter and it sounds much better to me
Very Nice sound but i prefer the vandoren with the large Chamber. The medium Chamber is good too but the large Chamber is good as a florida
Thanks - didn't like the medium chamber version as I found it a bit stuffy but never tried the large chamber.
@@pawelkaminskimusic the large chamber will be even darker than the medium chamber.
I've played on all three V16 T7 mouthpiece. For me the medium chamber T7 is best. I use it with Plasticover no. 3 reeds.
both sound great! thanks for posting
I am comparing the otto link vintage hr8 vs V16 T8 and I am finding the link richer in timbre. What do you think?
I found the New Vintage Tone Edge to be darker and warmer than the V16 but it wasn't as responsive and tuned quite sharp.
@@pawelkaminskimusic Aaah; the Tone Edge; I've had many over the years....Always loved the feel and sound but the tuning is always a pain in the a%@#
You sound great on both, a little bit better on the Otto. I have an Otto also but for alto sax, Otto's are to hard to control , I prefer a vandoren jumbo java. It's the player really, you just sound great.
Thanks! Still happy with the Link :)
The Vandoren sounded brighter. But you kicked a$$ with both pieces ! It’s only rock and roll , but I like it ! Ha ha , take care buddy .
I also play this V16. A little hard for me to play the high register. It’s a skill problem I guess cause I sound ok in the low Regs.
I owned a Otto Link once but sold it. The metal pieces never seem to work well for me as much as I wanted them to in my early years of being reacquainted with the sax. Vandoren is definitely my go to piece though…aside from Meyer I seem to get my best sound from these and I was once a huge Jody Jazz fan. I’m like Vandoren all the way now.
Yeah - Vandoren mouthpieces are great!
Not much of a difference. The link is a bit darker and mellower. How did they feel and respond in your opinion?
Vandoren has a much quicker response and takes less air. It's also brighter and more focused. Link sounds bigger and has more depth to it. Not as easy to play though.
I love them both, and would have them both.
Yeah I still have and like them both.
Nice playing Sir.
Hummm, well the V16 is close to that Flo. Link
Man,can t believe this,never been a fan of Vandoren s mpcs.
Thanks for the video.

Mario M Thanks, I really like the V16s for alto and tenor - great mouthpieces.
Paweł Kamiński Saxophonist / Composer Thanks for taking time to reply.
Mario
Difference nearly imperceptible to me. Which was easier to play? I'm 72 & that matters. Thanks!
V16 was way easier to play.
Link is more focused. Although wrote that the V16 response faster I listen the opposite.. Anyway you sound great in both
Thanks
U gotta gorgeous sound my goodness
Vandoren by a mile. More body across the range
What is the model number and the brand of this tenor
梁凱晙 It's a Selmer Super Action 80 Series II
Thanks for the comparison
Very good for played and both sound great
What microphone are you using?
Julio Perez Thanks, its a Rode NT2A
Moim zdaniem Vandoren wygrywa.
Nothing against Brian Powell, but you have to try some other refacers. They might make that Otto Link respond better for you and project better for you.
I have to say that this is the best Link I've ever played. Used it for the last eight years. Brian's work is top-notch.
@@pawelkaminskimusic
I had Brian face thirteen pieces for my friend & I, NY Meyers for alto & bari, gregorys, and slants and stms for tenor, and the main thing I don't like about his work across all these pieces is the articulation goes flat. I was scared to try others because of Brian's consistency and dependability, but I'm glad I did.
@@DaleFedele Wow you are certainly more experianced with refacers than I. When I bought this piece it was already refaced by Brian and it played like a dream. Lost a bit of response over years but I still like it. Maybe I should consider sending it to Phil Engleman as I'm living in Europe. He did a nice job on my V16. Thanks for your input.
The OL has more power, in my opinion! Both mouthpieces sound great, but the Link is still the king. The Vandoren is probably the more versatile of the two! I have a friend who plays tenor and used to play the OL. Today, he's playing a Vandoren..... who knows?
I sold Vandoren and kept the Otto Link. Sometimes I wish I didn't. V16 was definitely brighter and louder than the Link.
V16 is powerful colored sound .better .
v16 wins
LINK lepiej brzmi
Bis-Tal Ja wolę Vandoren
V16 def wins. Punchy and fat.
Sounds great but in the end it couldn't take all the air I wanted to push through so I sold it. Maybe I'll get a T8S someday.
