Love the balance of the AC4 bridge. Warm and musical. The 59 seems to have that stray highs that's a bit harsh. The 59 sounded better on the neck though.

SD's sounds aggressive and modern. Toneriders sounds vintage and mellow that's why I placed toneriders in mine coz that's my taste. Neither of them is better that the other it's just a matter of preference. Cheers for this informative and detailed comparison.

I didn’t really liked the SD ‘59 in my Eastman 59. Bridge pick up to harsh and the neck to flat. I’ve got the Tonerider pick ups, and they sound fuller, less bright but more mid punch. It’s al in the taste of the player. For the money? I’d choose the Tonerider

IMO I noticed as the video goes to almost the last part where you keep on switching from different pickups and their positions, I find the tonerider more sweeter and warmer... the duncan may be more brighter and clearer but as the video goes to the part where it was incorporated to the backing track, i can hear the tonerider as more suitable and right tone for me...

If I would want a sharp, slightly more aggressive tone with brightness- the SD 59!
For a melower, sweeter tone, but enough clarity - the Tonerider IV!

Different flavors, both very good. In a live setting, the Alnico IV's would have better cut, especially with drive/distortion.

This review would have been 10 x better if you would have reviewed the clean sounds as well as a 15 minute shredfest

Who has a les paul to play clean....seriously why is there someone in every comments section "clean otherwise I can't tell" get out of here

@@Notinserviceij Guitars were clean when the Les Paul originally came into existence. Not every day needs to be a shred dirt fest if you can't play clean your hiding behind a bunch of dirt! Obviously your not a studio session player either. Les Paul himself played his Guitar CLEAN! ALL THE TIME 🤔

@sammyrothrock6981 yes les paul did play clean but have a look around you there are so many guitars that do that clean thing better
Most people don't play les paul stuff on les Paul's
      Clean clips are out there
Stop being offended because he didn't cater to you

@@Notinserviceij Offended ? I am not offended at all? I play Dirty myself 50% of the time ! I play D style amplifiers it's a good kind of dirt not your typical neo classical shred stuff . Just simply saying it's a more interesting demo when you can do it all! Clean, dirty and in between! I been playing for 50 years heard alot of cool guitars and guitarists over those years many styles in approach of techniques have evolved you know. From Wes Montgomery to Alan Holdsworth to Stanley Jordan, Jan Akkerman, Joe Satriani, of course Eddie Van halen, Clapton, Jeff Beck, Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Johnson, Jamie Glaser, Greg Howe, Lee Ritenour, Larry Carlton, Steve Lukather, Bill Conners, Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, Michael Lee Firkins, George Lynch, Ryan Cooder, Sonny Landreth , Derek Trucks , Duane Allman, Steve Ray Vaughn, it's a very vast and interesting world out there just to name a few ! I am not running anyone's music down at all or talent !

SD sounds 2% clearer on highs, more bite, very, very close - would put the SD in as PUP replacement.
Clint Curtis - Artist level of playing.

I use Toneriders more than ten years. Their A4 bridge is the best PAF I tryed. Never liked any SD pickup, they sound steryle to me. Chinese Donlis pickups are much cheaper, but the same level of quality, especially A2 PAF-s, and their version of Super Distortion (18$), the only ceramic pickup I like.

To bzdura, po obejrzeniu tego filmiku kupiłem przetworniki tonerider ac4 i założyłem do swojej gitary, więc napisze szczerze, mają wysoką górę nie mają środka ani basu, brzmią gorzej jak ceramiczne humbuckery Wilkinson.
