    The trick is to buy the battery version of the Phillips toothbrush, and buy a rechargeable battery. There are rechargeable AAA batteries now where you can plug a usb-c cable directly into the battery, no extra charging device

      I agree with you. The battery version is best. My main toothbrush is the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean which goes into a lovely "travel" case to recharge -- lovely but huge. Now that I have the slim little battery-operated Sonicare, I can easily carry it anywhere and the battery lasts for many months. Between the two versions, I hardly notice a difference in power.

    • @MaggiFuchs
      @MaggiFuchs  10 дней назад +1

      @@bex-fl-1 It’s interesting that there is not too much power difference between the two. 👍 My Sonicare is very big, it’s already 10 years old, but still going strong. I have been eyeing with the Prestige model because it seems to have the smallest charging case, but I am refusing to pay that much money for a toothbrush, especially since mine is still working. 😅 And I have the (slim) hope that until mine breaks, maybe they release a new model… 😂

      @@MaggiFuchs I've heard others say that their mouth feels noticeably cleaner with the diamond care model. I find the difference almost imperceptible, but I must admit, the diamond care does vibrate faster. I like having both, but could happily make do with the Philips One, especially since the difference in cost is huge.

    I love the idea of a travel kitchen. Very recently, I've started traveling with a variety of seasonings and spices since most airbnb's don't have any, and it's motivated to me to cook more where ever I'm staying.

    I have the immersion heaters in US, UK, And EU plugs . It’s essential I make coffee, tea, boil water for dry oatmeal , and soup. You are right saves money on those expensive coffee runs. I travel with loose tea, coffee sticks and I’ve never had a problem with TSA. Always remember to have it in a cup with water before you plug it in otherwise you can short circuit it and unplug it before you remove it from boiled water.

    • @MaggiFuchs
      @MaggiFuchs  5 дней назад +4

      Wow, you got a whole collection of water cooker sticks. But I totally understand why. 😅 And thanks for the reminder of how to use it. My manual said the same, otherwise the fuse would fry - so I follow that rule religiously.
      And regarding the loose tea incident… It was a short trip, so I packed a small amount of loose tea in one of those tiny clear bags. I think it was a rolled one, a Milky Oolong or Dragon Pearls or something. And then my bag got searched and she pulled out this tiny clear bag with something green inside. 😂 The situation got resolved quickly and we all had a good laugh…

    Matador tubes are amazing, let me go on a small review. I bought them for travel, but when I returned home, I needed to finish up what was in there... and somehow I ended up using it permanently, refilling over and over again. Large toothpaste takes up so much space on my small sink, while Matador tube is tiny.
    Now, why this tube is great. Most people use too much toothpaste, like 5-6x times too much, covering the whole length of a brush with a fat worm of toothpaste. In reality, you need pea sized amount of toothpaste and using more does not give you any benefits. If I have a very minty toothpaste, I stick to that amount... Though I like to use 1.5-2 peas if toothpaste isn't very strong - otherwise I don't feel like I have brushed my teeth.
    However, the problem is twofold, I don't like my toothbrush touching the tube (seems unhygienic) BUT I need to evenly distribute toothpaste along the toothbrush, otherwise I'll be ramping up the foaming for half of my brushing time. Overbrushing teeth is bad, 2 mins of brushing with the right technique is enough. Matador tube solves all those problems, by dispensing a slimmer worm of toothpaste across the brush. Ofc, toothpaste companies have no business in consumer using less toothpaste so they'd never make the tube hole smaller, literally all of the marketing has fat worm of toothpaste, way too generous lol. Makes me angry as it contributes to the misinformation that you need half a bucket of toothpaste to brush your teeth.
    I would only improve two things:
    The cap is small, it'd be nice if it was attached to the tube. But I can see how it's difficult as it'd make it more expensive to produce. I am worried I'm gonna lose it, and I had sinks with large enough gaps to drop the cap into the sink drain. 🙀
    The cap tip is narrow, you can make the tube stand but it is wobbly. I'd love if the cap end was a bit wider to support it's weight. I would add a few grams, but it'd be well worth it.
    I've been extensively using one black tube for a year now, and shows very little wear and tear... I used one white tube for face cream when travelling but I don't use it daily as my face cream comes in a tube already. So I have 3 Matador tubes to spare, I think it will last me well over 10 years to destroy all 4 of them. I am considering buying another 4 just to hoard them in case they stop producing them, but I have resisted this temptation so far. 😹
    I really enjoy your videos, thank you.

      I loved your review. Thanks for sharing. This was one of the items I was most excited about seeing in Maggi's video. I have no idea why, because I usually put my toothpaste in a half ounce plastic case with snap lid, and always bring popsicle sticks or coffee stirrers to scoop a tiny bit out. That system works fine and takes even less space, but I have such a love of cool travel gear that I'm excited about getting one of these tubes. 😂😂😂 It's the simple things in life, I guess. This might sound crazy, but do you think it would work if I used it for night cream? I have a thick night cream that I love and I'm always wishing it came in a tube instead of it's pretty jar.

    • @MaggiFuchs
      @MaggiFuchs  10 дней назад +1

      @@bex-fl-1 Adding my 2 cents. 🤗 My guess is that it should work. The cream I got from my doctor is a little bit thicker gel-like consistency, and it works very well. I guess it would be hard with very fluid textures that would run out of the larger opening, but I have not tested that yet… 🤔

    I bought the Osprey Packable Backpack last year as a Day Pack and used it on four trips now. I like that it's very light weight and compact to transport. Since it's flexible it fits comfortably everywhere you need it to like as a personal item under a plane seat for example. Because of the light support though, you quickly feel it on your shoulders if you load it up too heavy and in hot weather you'll get a sweaty back pretty fast from the material. Still, I like the Backpack a lot and would recommend it. I'm looking forward to your review of the new gear. Happy travels you two.

It simply vibrates a bit so I don’t think it works nearly as well as our regular electric toothbrushs. It may be slightly better than a manual brush tho so it depends on what you’re used to. Also, another option for a travel notebook might be a Rocketbook. They have a line of paper-like notebooks that you use special pens with that are erasable. And a whole scanning system (using your phone and a QR code) so if it’s a page you want to keep you can scan and it will pdf and email it to you via the app (or various other customizable delivery options). I use the Oral B electric AA battery toothbrush. Prefer over rechargeable because I can carry a AA battery if needed. The cost in these toothbrushes is in the replacement heads. You should change every 3 months and if you have had a URI always replace when you’re better. I find replaceable head dups for about 50 cent each that I can remove toss and replace. The cleaning is excellent and with the cost of even disposable toothbrush’s it’s a good investment as long as the heads can be purchased economically and don’t get discontinued. Our entire household uses the same Oral B electric battery operated version.

    Nice travel gizmo video. I’ve had that small Anker battery bank with folding Lightning connector plug for a while and loved how I could put it in my pocket to recharge my earbuds, iPhoneSE or iPad if need be. My iPhone is getting so the battery no longer holds a charge all day long & the replacement for it isn’t out for 6 months (2025), so was the perfect little backup battery… until it died last week right before a trip I am now on. It will no longer make the connection from batter to device. I suspect the folding tip is the weak point. My replacement is a “Anker Power Bank, 10,000mAh Portable Charger with Built-in USB-C Cable and Lanyard, 22.5W Max Output with 2 USB-C and 1 USB-A Port”. It’s thinner than my other battery banks, the attach lanyard is usb-c to usb-c fast charging cable. I took a short Anker fast charging usb-c to Lightning cable & used the Velcro tie to attach it to the lanyard. So far it is working well. Also, I had gotten this for my transition from Lighting to usb-c as more and more gizmos go to USB-c.

      Or I will turn into Inspector Gadget because I will have to hide it all in my coat when I fly the next time… 😂

    Send the eagle creek item back to eagle creek and they will fix it. They will fix for free, their items have a lifetime warranty. I have sent an item that needed the zipper replaced.

      I looked into it but read that it covers only material and production defects, not rips and tears etc. I guess it’s another case where all those fancy warranties are worth nothing in Europe. Just like Ospreys all mighty guarantee basically only covers production defects for two years or so around here. 🤷‍♀️

      One of the shoulder straps came off / seams ripped and there were lots of small holes all over the bag. I am not mad though. I think it lasted for a long time and we got a lot of use out of that bag. :)

    Anker powerbank integrated cable stops working after some time, so I wouldn't rely just on that cable, always have some other that you can insert into the power bank.

      Thanks for the tip, it’s definitely great to have a backup. I think I mentioned it in the video that I would also bring a multicable with it (I just didn’t show it in the B-Roll). I hope that the integrated cable will last for a while though. 🤞 Did you have yours breaking on an Anker powerbank? How long did it last?

      @@MaggiFuchs I bought one 333 days ago. It's without that apple watch charger, but the one with integrated cable. I think it mentions somewhere that it can hold 10 000 bends or something like that. I contacted their support and I should be getting a free replacement. Because now sometimes it charges, sometimes not, depends on how the cable is bent, if I use external cable, all good.

      Mine are also rather tight to slide in and out, but I thought it’s a good thing so they don’t come off by themselves. 🤔
