    Converting your F850GS's front end with a high-performance, closed cartridge fork kit from Touratech Suspension will wake up the front of your BMW and make a huge change in handling, stability, and performance in any of the on and off road conditions you find yourself riding.
    Not just a change in spring rate, or a simple re-valve, this cartridge conversion completely transforms the front-end of your F850GS with all new damping characteristics that can't be achieved with the stock F850GS or GSA forks.
    The F850GS and GSA use a single fork leg to control both the compression and rebound damping, this reduces the weight of the forks to improve steering responsiveness both on and off pavement. The Touratech single sided cartridge kit replaces the stock internals with much more capable components to drastically improve the wheel control without adding unnecessary weight to the fork. Additional benefits of this design are a significant reduction in installation time and complexity as only a single fork leg needs to be removed from the motorcycle.
    Gone are the days of non-adjustable stock front suspension. The Touratech kit is completely tunable with rebound, compression, and preload adjustments made from the top of the fork caps. No matter where your adventure takes you, you can be assured that our cartridge system is designed to go the distance and tackle any terrain you throw at it.

    Thanks Ian.
    My fork cartridge kit is coming next week, and the instruction book is a little vague.
    This video is a great help to me and should make the installation straightforward.
    I can't wait to get it fitted and set up ready for my spring adventures.
    Kind regards
    Dave.

      have you ridden the bike with the new units yet ???

      @@justsomedude445 Yes I have. Only on the road so far. Very happy with the improvement over bumpy roads. And the fork dive under hard breaking is much improved. I should imagine that the improvement on dirt roads would be equally worthwhile. Especially if you are a competent rider. 😉

    Thanks for this video, very helpful. QUESTION: How many spacers did you use at the top of the spring and how many were in the cap? THANKS!

    • @TouratechUSA
      @TouratechUSA  2 года назад +3

      The spacers set the spring base preload and should be re-installed in the same order as when they are shipped to you. On our bike we used one below the spring and 3 above.

    After you draw the fluid out of the forks to the level that shows to be from the top it seems to need no more than 3 fluid ounces per fork with this upgrade, maybe because of the thicker cartridges taking up the space compared to the stock ones?

    • @TouratechUSA
      @TouratechUSA  Год назад +1

      Yes, since this cartridge is 'closed' the fork oil you are pouring in is only there to lubricate the slider bushings and operate the bottom out cup at the top of the cartridge. All the damping is controlled inside the cartridge with oil that is much thinner and under nitrogen pressure.
      I assume "per fork leg" was a typo as this install only makes changes to one fork leg on the F850 models.

    The video title says these fit the 750gs but in the video it only mentions 850gs and 850gsa. Can you confirm if it fits 750gs also?

    • @TouratechUSA
      @TouratechUSA  2 года назад

      Thanks for asking. These do NOT fit the F750GS so I have corrected the title.

    The lower bolt on my fork just spins and won't brake loose from the cartridge. Any idea how to hold the cartridge to unthread the bolt?

    • @TouratechUSA
      @TouratechUSA  Год назад

      You can hold the end of the cartridge rod and gently put some sideways pressure on it. If that doesn't work, reassemble the fork to apply spring pressure and try hitting the bolt with an impact gun to loosen it.

      @@TouratechUSA thanks for the reply. I tried reassembling it and even compressed the fork leg but it didn't seem to add any resistance... I can try flexing the cartridge to the side though

    Ok. Installation complete. Now, the important stuff. Adjusting. Installation is pointless without tuning.
