Absolute gem of a car!! I have come a full circle from my first car, a 1969 VW van with a flat 4, a couple of V-8s, a V-6 and now back to the flat 4 in my WRX.
I tried to convince myself that i didn't like the window visors but i caved in after 2 years haha. I actually get a lot of compliments from non car people because of how well they fit
Hey big dawg it is called growing into your build, and I hate to say it man but age has something to do with it cause you start to really figure out what you want. Also... who cares what anyone else says it only matters what you think cause you drive it and it is your escape from the world! Your car is really clean brother keep doing what you are doing!
Well said! Yup, I feel like it’s constantly evolving which makes it fun altogether. The day I stop enjoying the process is the day I have a problem. Thank you man! 🙏
Good video and good message! Still loving my FA20DIT. I consider the window visors necessary on this car because otherwise if you are driving with the window open and wash your windshield, the wipers wipe that water/methanol right towards the driver window!
Thanks man 🙏! Definitely would have kept them on if I took advantage of their purpose! I regretted removing them after the first one since it literally wouldn’t budge haha.
Big sf = big regret. The fact that it’s so hard to keep the filter exactly 1” over the pipe has been such a pain for maintenance. Then the car falls flat on its face when it’s off just by a little.
That AP mount is probably more safe for flashing compared to the mounts where you don’t physically plug in the cable. Don’t want to have a loose connection and brick the ecu.
thanks for the wisdom from your experience. with window visors, my main use for them is if i hit the windshield wash and forget my window is down (but i bought the ones you tape on without brackets). me personally i found out about the snorkel after i had already bought the grimmspeed hella horn kit and now use that bracket, along with my stock horns and a 12v power supply on my tool box/cart to scare people/make them move out of the way in the shop i work in
I like the looks of the Subaru OEM window visors. But man they sure are noisy at speed. Anything over 20mph and it sounds like you are in a wind tunnel. I have debated taking mine off but like you, my window surround and trim is scratched. I'll probably just leave them on.
i wound up returning my cobb intake 2x because of a bent pipe on the end, eventually they made right and replaced. hope it holds up. thanks for making the video nice job!
Are those front visibility windows tinted? If not, you can go with a dark 🌑 tint, even limo tint if you want it really dark, for that black look but still see thru it.
I'm looking for a sail panel piece to reduce wind turbulence front the door-mounted mirror. I know the Mk5 Supra and 911 have products to do this, but ALL Subarus can benefit from the having something push air around the mirror and keep it out of the gap btwn the mirror cap and glass. Thoughts?
@@ronfromportland...neither have I, that's why I asked. I have seen stick-on vortex generators (pk of 15 at Autozone, in paintable white) and thought about painting 2 black and then affixing them to the sail panel in such a way to direct air around the mirror. Happy Thanksgiving.
Hi Ron Would you pls let me know what Brand name of your rims on your 2018 WRax STI .. .. Love those rims look very different very unique.. Thank you so much Ron
100 percent i hate window visors, instantly make the car look cheap and immature. glad u took em off. same with those window blockers lol, tacked on plastic anything is a no go, good rule of thumb lol. btw is that an oil filter cozy?
Maybe it’s not so much “progression” but rather “maturity”. It doesn’t necessarily mean you leave certain mods behinds because they’re tacky or being offensive it just means your taste changes your preference demands more from certain items. It’s an image not so much a lifestyle any more if that makes sense. Not to bash on anyone or any brands or what not just a different opinion.
Hey Ron. Much respect for you and your ride. What mount is that? I’m looking to ditch my printed one since the fitment is poor. Sucks about the delete crack down, hope it doesn’t interfere when I need to figure out why mine isn’t running right. Do you get the little rattle sound at startup without TGVs, too?
Thanks man, I appreciate that! I don’t think I have that rattle sound but I’ll listen the next time I start up. Here’s the link to the AccessPort mount video!ruclips.net/video/CeSJPTSm0LI/видео.html
I use CRC MAF Sensor cleaner for both sensors. If I don’t clean them for months, AF Learning tends to spike to ~-18. Intake filter placement also has a factor in this if you are running an aftermarket one, it has to be on there perfectly for the car to be happy. I knew something was wrong though when the AFR values wouldn’t go down to normal range after cleaning the sensors. Here’s a video I made on that specific issue: ruclips.net/video/lDGN-05stKs/видео.html

Yah those wheels are ugly in my opinion, same as the window visors..but to each their own..ride height is good tho.. Btw, I have the Cobb intake. Did u make sure to take off the stock intake bracket that holds up the stock intake tube. It hits the pipe and can cause a hole. I had problems like u until I took that off

Glad you got it sorted out, this stuff can make you go crazy I tell ya. Mine has been good for the most part…after finding that the end of the tube connecting to the inlet was bent.

I tried to convince myself that i didn't like the window visors but i caved in after 2 years haha. I actually get a lot of compliments from non car people because of how well they fit
Haha I feel you on that! Fitment was spot on 👐
i actually happen to love my window visors, aesthetically they may not look the best on all builds but i happen to like the functionality of them.
Definitely! I took mine off since I found myself never rolling down the windows during the rain. They had a good run on my car, over 4 years.
The cusco master cylinder braces fits with the addw1 catch can. If you are looking for a brace. It does actually make a difference
Good to know, thanks for the info!
I think your mods are subtle and clean. I try to keep my sti that way too but to be honest, I love my visors.
Thank you 🙏! Definitely, they were great for a long while.

Yup, I dread having to remove it whenever I need to clean the MAF sensor. I almost always have to re-adjust it at least 3 times.
That AP mount is probably more safe for flashing compared to the mounts where you don’t physically plug in the cable. Don’t want to have a loose connection and brick the ecu.
Definitely, and mainly safer for track applications since it stays locked in there.
I have the COBB intake, 100% agreement. Have never been really impressed with it and other better ones IMO
Yup, exactly! It’s very finicky.
I hear the grimmspeed intake is the best one to buy. I hear good things about ETS as well.
Yup, I’ve heard the same!
The Cobb redline one looks kinda nice but the green update killed it. Not to mention it's pricey as hell.
Good video…I actually start watching the video because of the wheels and found some good info for the future of my car
