Great pattern. I can see that your hook keeps slipping out of the DK jaws when you're working your hackles in and forcing the fibres back.. I've got the same issue and must admit, it's a huge issue given I spend almost a thousand dollars for my DK barracuda deluxe. They hold salt water hooks in the actual grooves incredibly well, probably the best I've experienced in comparison to other vices. But the smaller hooks slip and make me question DK quality. I reached out to them and got told the finer teeth at the point can wear out. Even after I got mine repaired I had the same issue. Simply put, the jaws are poorly designed IMO for smaller hooks. Even with fine adjustments with the tension cone, it's very annoying and has led me to look into other manufacturers
Thx for continually giving me some weapons of mass destruction to up my game. Will be adding that pattern to the Stillwater box. Any boatman or backswimmers in the future?
I have found these nymphs are frequently eaten by still water Brook trout here and a main source of trout food! You cannot go wrong by trying a dragon fly nymph! I will add this version to the others in my box! The hover effect may be deadly and certainly worth a try! I do not have any foam but I think I will try some styrofoam from a meat tray commonly used in supermarkets to see if that can substitute? Thanks for the pattern!
@@TheFlyFishFanatic I don’ t but could try to make some from that styrofoam meat tray and colour it with a marker! Always like to reuse and repurpose plus it cost me nothing! 😂
Fast sinking line, short leader fished over weed beds or shoals. Let it sink, the Fly will stay up in the water due to the foam, when you strip it in, it will dart down towards the weeds, stop retrieve and it will float again, repeat.
