  • Eight Is Enough is an American television comedy-drama series that ran on ABC from March 15, 1977, until May 23, 1981. The show was modeled on the life of syndicated newspaper columnist Tom Braden, a real-life parent with eight children, who wrote a book by the same title.
Ralph Macchio guest starred on the series from November 1980, until the show was cancelled in May 1981, in total of 19 episodes. He played the role of Abby's nephew from her late sister-in-law, Jeremy Andretti.

It's so sad that Jeremy's Dad stood him up. He just gave him false hopes. Poor Jeremy!😌

This is when the show "jumped the shark" as they say. This happens when a TV show has sagging ratings and the producer introduced something new to the show like a new character in order to boost the ratings i.e. when "The Brady Bunch" introduced cousin Oliver in the last season of the show or when "The Partridge Family" introduced Ricky Segal to the show as a new character during the last season of that show.

Yeah, that's very unfortunate. But on Ralph's side of the story, that brief stint he had on Eight is Enough trained him enough to be an established actor that he is now. 💙💙

Yeah, but he wasn't as bad as cousin Oliver and he didn't worsen the show. He turned out to be a more successful actor than most of the cast, almost like Leonardo DiCaprio joining Growing Pains or Jason Bateman joining Little House on the Prairie.

@@DCFelix67 Yes! Besides, that's how most of the great actors begin their journey. They start on small projects like a commercial or little roles like guesting on a TV series or sitcom. It certainly is way harder to get into stardom back then compared to now that gaining fame is right at your fingertips, thanks to social media.
