The reason why this song sounds “heavy” is because Bernie (who normally doesn’t get involved in how his lyrics should sound musically - he leaves that to Elton’s genius) specifically asked Elton to give this song a Lennon-esque sound. Those violins and other melodic lines are an ode to the Lennon sound. Elton delivered brilliantly, as usual, to bring these lyrics to life in the way perhaps John Lennon would have. After all, this song is about love and Lennon wrote so many songs focusing on love (Imagine, Love, All You Need Is Love, among others). So Bernie wanted to honor that.
Great reaction! Elton sounds so soulful on this track, his vocals are perfect. You want another 'heavy' Elton song from the the 90's - listen to "The Last Song", so beautifully bittersweet
Just another song in the long list of songs dedicated to a major personality. Marylin Monroe, Roy Rogers, Princess Diana, John Lennon, and Freddie Mercury. You know someone really made the list; if Elton sings about them
YYYYYEEEEeeeeessssss!!!! I BELIEVE IN LOVE!!! THE MOST IMPORTANT ENTITY IN THE UNIVERSE!!! YES! This is one of my all-time favorite songs from Elton John.
I really love the emotion and strength that Elton sang this with. I can only say WOW! It reminds me of the Micheal Jackson performance of Earth Song. Same power of performance to deliver a great message.
Thank you, Jay and Amber, for giving me insight into the lyrics that I would probably never get. Never heard this, it's a beautiful song, music and lyrics. I totally agree with the comment below "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" !!!! Classic Elton John that is a must imo.
I don't think I've heard this since it was on the charts. Wow, flashback. Such a good song. It's amazing that he's had so many great songs I grew up with that I can almost forget them and reexperience them with reactions like this ❤
Amber, you have an almost intuitive understanding about song lyrics. Your analysis is spot on. You go girl! Jay, I love your enthusiasm. Really enjoy your channel.
I'm sure you would like Elton's 'I Want Love' (2001). Video features Robert Downey Jr and in some ways was a bit of a lifeline to him in re-kickstarting his career again after his various troubles (Elton was able to empathize with RDJ given his own experience of rehab etc). It has a very raw, emotional feeling to it and also sounds a little Beatle-ish in some ways.
I've been requesting this all year long - so THANK YOU. I knew that you NEEDED to hear this - and KNEW that it would knock you off your feet. Your reaction was well worth the wait. His duet with George Michael is another MASTERPIECE that you must watch. Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me. I also love This Train Don't Stop - I think it's from the 90's as well. Big hugs from Ontario, Canada.
My recommendations: 1:.Funeral for a Friend/Loves Lies Bledding 2. The One 3. Circle of Life 4. This Train Don’t Stop There Anymore 5.Are You Ready for Love
From the same album there is a song I think you should really listen to. The song is "Blessed". At this point in his life Elton started wanting children. This song is about his future child. Eventually he and his husband did have two kids via a surrogate mother. Their names are Zachary and Elijah. In any case, this song speaks about the feelings any loving parent would have about their future child.
Amber & Jay, here are some other good Elton John songs to react to: "Sad Songs (Say So Much)", "Harmony", "Mama Can't Buy You Love", "Salvation", and "Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding".
Elton John has such artistry in his interpretations, such emotion. You probably know the song from your childhood, but one of my favorites is "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" - the melody is so beautiful.
Hi, you two! It's Andrew Erroch fae Paisley in Scotland here. This is another of your reactions that brought tears to my eyes. Where would any of us be without love? We need more love in the world and less hate. We certainly love you! Æx 🙏 #LOVEnothate #HOPEnothate
Always lead with love. Operate in good faith. Look for ways to give of yourself. You won't regret it for a minute. I have been doing this for over a decade and it calms your soul.
PBS just aired a special, Elton and Bernie received the Gershwin award. Several stars performed, the highlight for me was Metallica performing Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding, just awesome. You should check it out!
Hey Jay and Amber, I just wanted to say thank you for all the songs you guys have shared. I think Im done suggesting music for now, but thank you very much :)
This song is DEEP.... caused me to think about NOT about what I don't have... but what I do have....love has the power to change motives... love is life...love has the power to make a junkie...put his or her needle down.... the power of love is INFINITE.... the power to bring out the greatness of ordinary men.... Can cause even a self destructive man...to once again believe... that life and love are even for somebody like him... that even he has value....
Another good one guys. One thing: And yes, I know I'm just one person, but again, I IMPLORE you to check out 'Indian Sunset' and 'Ticking' - 2 absolute masterpieces. My two favorite EJ songs along with Rocket Man. I know I'm just one single guy; but my GAWD, I KNOW y'all would LOVE these. Indian Sunset is from Madman Across The Water 1971 and Ticking is from Caribou 1974. Would you please give them a try? Thank you....
Elton has so many great songs. I had forgotten about this great song in spite of the fact I 💕 this song when it when it came out. Thank you for helping me rediscover this amazing song 😊
Been checking out a lot of Elton lately and still no "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" even though everyone has been telling you about it all the time 😂
Lyrics: [Verse 1] I believe in love, it's all we got Love has no boundaries, costs nothin' to touch War makes money, cancer sleeps Curled up in my father, and that means somethin' to me [Pre-Chorus] Churches and dictators, politics and papers Everything crumbles sooner or later [Chorus] But love I believe in love [Verse 2] I believe in love, it's all we got Love has no boundaries, no borders to cross Love is simple, hate breeds Those who think difference is the child of disease [Pre-Chorus] Father and son make love and guns Families together kill someone [Chorus] Without love I believe in love [Instrumental Break] [Verse 3] Without love, I wouldn't believe In anythin' that lives and breathes Without love, I'd have no anger I wouldn't believe in the right to stand here [Pre-Chorus] Without love, I wouldn't believe I couldn't believe in you and I wouldn't believe in me [Chorus] Without love I believe in love I believe in love I believe in love
Powerful later song from Elton. Great reaction. Some suggestions for future songs: Take Me To The Pilot, Madman Across The Water, Funeral For A Friend/ Love Lies Bleeding and Your Sister Can't Twist (But She Can Rock 'n' Roll).
You've included some great tracks there, I'd love to hear The Ballad of Danny Bailey, Border Song, Holiday Inn or Ticking, the lesser known 'deep cuts' have always appealed to me more from Elton (and most other artists)
Love this song, so great job reacting to this one!! But if you two have still not reacted to either "Funeral For A friend/Love Lies Bleeding" and "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters" you are still missing out! Keep on cranking out the great reactions!!
There is a song on this LP called Lies, and it highlights Elton's piano skills. Even if you don't do a reaction video of it, you absolutely have to hear it.
A super-less known song of his is Ticking. Written in the late 70s about a mass shooting by a troubled kid. It's amazing lyrics from Bernie Taupin that tell such a compelling story that was "ahead of its time" and is so much more relevant over 40 years later.
AHHHHHHH YES, YOU GUYS FOUND THIS GREAT ONE!!! 👍😊OFF OF THE 95 ALBUM ( MADE IN ENGLAND ) THE OTHER HIT OFF OF THIS IS A WORD YOU GUYS LIKE TO USE JAY AND IT IS : BLESSED 😊 BEAUTIFUL SONG IT IS, WAY TO GO GUYS!
The last great song I remember was I Want Love but I also thought Someday out of the Blue was a terrific song that just happened to be in a forgettable film.
@@politefan8141 - Those were good, not great. Sadly, Elton lost his youthful voice after "Believe". There were techniques that could have been used, but he is surrounded by yes men and not someone like me.
Oh Yeah, I've been waiting for you guys to check this one. Came out later in his career and is one of my favourite Elton John songs. The power of the music and the beauty of the lyrics are a match made in Heaven!!! 'Made In England' is an upbeat and fun tune you'll really enjoy. 'I Want Love' is a classic Elton John track with a little surprise in the video.
You should check out 1960s Elton John, before he took the name Elton John. Born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, he was part of a British blues band called Bluesology in the early 60s. He took his current name in 1967, legally changing it in 1972, from the band’s saxophonist Elton Dean and frontman Long John Baldry; hence Elton John! Elton left the group in 67 to go solo. Check out the group’s 1965 song “Come Back Baby”, written and sung by Reg Dwight (now Sir Elton Hercules John).
I always love hearing Elton John. Wonderful as always! New music requests: 1. "O Sheila" by Ready For The World/1985 2. "Hanging By A Moment" by Lifehouse/2000 3. "Over My Head (Cable Car) by The Fray/2005 4. " Hold On" by En Vogue/1990
My favorite Sir Elton John song brings back memories from my High School years and that is "The Pinball Wizard" he did in the musical movie "Tommy" with the Who! 🇬🇧✌️ The crazy outfit with those boots he wore.
Jay & Amber, you'll love his "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" !!!!
I second this, for the 30th time. At this point I can only believe you are waiting for one of the best till last?
Excellent recommendation!
Yes! and "The Last Song" ...
Yes, Jay and Amber you need to listen to this - you will love it
And for the boomers here, I suggest watching Stan live at the Grammies with Eminem. Goosebump worthy performance from them both.

I haven’t heard this one on a while but WOW I’m feeling really lucky to have grown up with Elton John’s music. He’s a legend for a reason. ❤
TRUST JESUS CHRIST ONLY TO 4 GIVE ALL YOUR SINS U WILL EVER COMMIT HE HAS IF U BEILVE HIM
Healing hands! One of my favorites from the later years.
And Made In England, awesome song
great song!
Fantastic song!
One of his best.
"We've done so many Elton Johns..." You haven't even scratched the surface!
They have scratched the surface...just. Certainly they have covered more Elton than most. ✌
Would be nice to hear "blue eyes" my favourite song
Yeah thats my fave too 😍❤
Great reaction! Elton sounds so soulful on this track, his vocals are perfect. You want another 'heavy' Elton song from the the 90's - listen to "The Last Song", so beautifully bittersweet
Elton is my GOAT.. I've loved him since 1974... Wow I'm feelin old....
This was Elton's song for Freddie. Still gets me every time.
I was a senior in high school when this song came out. You just hit the nostalgia sweet spot.
I really love the emotion and strength that Elton sang this with. I can only say WOW! It reminds me of the Micheal Jackson performance of Earth Song. Same power of performance to deliver a great message.
One of my favourites from Elton and Bernie, love the whole Made in England album.
Agreed. They should react to Made in England, the song, as it's really about Elton's life.
Healing Hands is a fantastic 1989 Elton banger!!

Amber once again show us her full spread of emotions when lyrics tear and tug at her heart. She grasps her chest and just speaks with her eyes. 😢
A personal favorite of mine. An underrated gem from Elton's catalog. So glad you enjoyed it.
One of my all-time favorite Elton John songs!
Mid-90's Elton! This was later in his career. Great song!
I'm sure you would like Elton's 'I Want Love' (2001). And This Train Don't Stop There Anymore featuring Justin Timberlake as Elton and Paul Reubens in the suit

Such a powerful message and voice.
We All Fall In Love Sometimes, Little Jeannie, Daniel and the beautiful Song For Guy (the music speaks where the lyrics are left out)
My recommendations:
1:.Funeral for a Friend/Loves Lies Bledding
2. The One
3. Circle of Life
4. This Train Don’t Stop There Anymore

I’ll throw in a wildcard: I Don’t Wanna Go On (With You like That)!
Also react to Island Girl!
The Ballad of Danny Bailey has always been an absolute favourite of mine.
He is just a treasure.
One of my favorite songs of his. The music is like a dirge, funeral like. But it speaks of the hope of love❤
Always up to hear Sir Elton❤❤
This song is extremely beautiful. I absolutely love it. Thanks for reacting to it ❤
One of my all time favorites.
I am from the U.K and have heard a lot of Elton but like you this was the first time i've heard this one and i absolutely loved it!
Elton John has such artistry in his interpretations, such emotion. You probably know the song from your childhood, but one of my favorites is "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" - the melody is so beautiful.
I love Elton John, mostly his songs from the 70’s are my favorite. This song is great, guy’s, never heard him sing this before! 💙🩷
His 90s music is just as brilliant as his 70s, IMO. He really found new life amd passion after getting sober.
"Without love, I'd have no anger;
I wouldn't believe in the right to stand here!"
I always found these the song's most powerful lyrics.
Without love, I couldn't believe
I couldn't believe in you, and I wouldn't believe in me.

Absolutely epic! I saw this performed on his farewell tour, and it was a showstopper!!!

Elton John: "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds". Thank you.

Hi thanks for this new Elton reaction. Please the next react to This Train don’t Stop There Anymore and I Want Love!
Great song, though l much prefer his other 'train' song, Runaway Train from The One album. Eric Clapton joined him on that one, fantastic stuff!
Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
I believe in love, it's all we got
Love has no boundaries, costs nothin' to touch
War makes money, cancer sleeps
Curled up in my father, and that means somethin' to me
[Pre-Chorus]
Churches and dictators, politics and papers
Everything crumbles sooner or later
[Chorus]
But love
I believe in love
[Verse 2]
I believe in love, it's all we got
Love has no boundaries, no borders to cross
Love is simple, hate breeds
Those who think difference is the child of disease
[Pre-Chorus]
Father and son make love and guns
Families together kill someone
[Chorus]
Without love
I believe in love
[Instrumental Break]
[Verse 3]
Without love, I wouldn't believe
In anythin' that lives and breathes
Without love, I'd have no anger
I wouldn't believe in the right to stand here
[Pre-Chorus]
Without love, I wouldn't believe
I couldn't believe in you and I wouldn't believe in me
[Chorus]
Without love
I believe in love
I believe in love
I believe in love

The last song by Elton is great but a very emotional song about father and son
Yes! I've seen The Last Song recommended here a few times already, and can't agree more. Such a powerful, meaningful song. ❤️
