    Hi Heinrich, I really enjoy your channel. I own a consultancy and travel a bit for work (primarily in the US). I usually roll my socks and put them in my shoes to save space. I find that if I fold the shirts, they don’t tend to wrinkle as much as the technique that you demonstrated. I usually bring a sweater and a vest in addition to a sport coat. Very rarely do I need a tie these days (but then my clients are mostly on the West Coast and we tend to be less formal here). A pair of slippers also helps at the hotel. Coast to coast, or international travel can be a bit wearing, and getting out of my shoes when I arrive at the hotel, is the fastest way to relax. I also usually pack melatonin for any long distance travel, which helps reset my circadian rhythms so I get a good night’s rest.

    I would appreciate more fashion tips for young professionals. Too often the videos on RUclips are made by people who aren't professionals themselves. Maybe you could do a video on how to have pieces that work in both causal and formal settings?

    This entire video is a tribute to Mari Kondo. Wunderbar. I use the military trick of rolling up everything, so I can pack lots of clothes (my fieldwork is much less civilized than his). I also have a cute bag (looks like a big purse) with a secret compartment for the suit, very useful.

    Great video once again. I always buy two pair of trousers when I buy a suit. Sometimes I buy identical trousers, I sometimes buy a pair that will contrast with the jacket for visiting 'less formal' clients. Would it be possible for you to produce a video showing how to pack your briefcase/laptop bag as I always carry too much tech 'just in case?'

    I recall the first week I went out to a client. Severely overpacked since the only limitation was my car's trunk and my regular luggage. In the end, most of my shirts were wrinkled, and I just used half of everything.
    There indeed is a steep learning curve.
    Essential to keep in mind when flying: Be especially aware of what you are packing during your first trips. Since you are now traveling with hand luggage, you might get into trouble with security checks for items you usually stash in your regular baggage. Rarely happens, but easy to avoid

  • @sc-rq7zy
    @sc-rq7zy 2 года назад +1

    I miss some shirts/undershirts it’s preventing wet spots and some peep show between the bottoms of the shirt.
    Additional ProTipps:
    - spare Suit trousers/pants on every trip, they take not much space but you’re safe.
    - a spare belt and shoelaces (both failed more than ones on me during trips)
    - bring your collar shirts to a cleaning service -> you save the effort w/ ironing and they’re experts in folding
    - Let the cleaning service fold your shirts instead of putting them on hangers - much easier to pack and most likely less wrinkled.
    - Shows to the bottom of the suit case, bec.They are heavy and tend to crunch your other clothes
    - put the zip lock back in your business case, so you are able to put it out w/ your laptop at sec check point, Hand haven’t to open the suitcase

    so together with your laptop case you might have 3 bags in total? business class? or are you packing for economy? that is always the biggest stress for me when I don't check any bags - breaking baggage allowance. Do you negotiate with ground staff? if so what do you say to get away with extra weight and/or extra pieces?

    • @FirmLearning
      @FirmLearning  3 года назад +4

      Hi Moowa, thanks for your comment! Yes, depending on whether you bring the suitbag or not this will be 2-3 bags. It is my experience that at least in Europe, airlines are not very strict in enforcing these rules on business flights. This is especially true for the "premium airlines" like the German Lufthansa - as a consultant you will almost never fly budget / tourist airlines with stricter policies. In addition, yes, some consulting firms also fly Business Class, even for domestic flights. As a consultant you will also very quickly gain airline status with most airlines you fly with regularly - status usually allows you to carry more luggage. In practice, I never had the problem of somebody not letting me fly due to my luggage. Best, Heinrich

      This might be a little extra but for my liquids I use these capsules from the brand Cadence. They’re a little pricey but soooooo worth it. Worst case scenario, I’m sure you can find a pharmacy or convenient store nearby that sells a heavily used product like body moisturizer then toss it at the end of the week when it’s time to return home. Blow dryers are almost always available at most hotels (I would recommend calling beforehand to confirm if one will be provided in your room, if not amazon sells mini driers).

      I use the “bundle method” wrapping all the clothes together. It will minimize the wrinkles. I do put the extra pair of shoes, with socks stuffed in them, in shoe bags and placed at the bottom near the wheels. Underwear always goes in a compression cube placed in the center of the bundle. Ties always in either a tie case flat or rolled into a ziploc back. Toiletries go in a clear bag, carried in the personal item so that it saves time at security (especially at Heathrow) and on long international flights from US to Europe. Also, when traveling from US abroad, always carry a first aid kit just in case.
