My wife and I (66m retired) are just finishing up a two and a half months tour of the Balkans and I absolutely love it here. We are trying to figure out where we want to move to (Albania is very high on the list as is Bulgaria) but I can't overstate how safe we feel everywhere we've been in the Balkans. Are you the most honest you tuber or what, man i agree with you 100%.
I’m Albanian from Kosova and proud American too, living in the states for 26 years now, and couldn’t be more thankful to US for giving me and my family the opportunity to make a life here. However my plan and wish is to do exactly what you are doing for the reasons you mentioned.
PS. I’m for buying VS renting, as prices there are going up unfortunately, and so will rent, making everything difficult in the years ahead, but you know that already.
Wish you guys all the best and happy to have you enjoying Albania.
Next time we meet I’d like to take you guys for lunch when I’m back there, would be my pleasure chatting with you .

Living in Florida. 70 and wanting to retire. Just started SS this summer.
Went through a divorce at 55 that ruined me financially. I've rebuilt my assests to a degree but will be largely dependent on SS, and the government is taking 22% of that.
The cost of living is rising fast, especially homeowners, health and auto insurance, and medications.
But other basic things like utilies, home repairs and car maintenance are increasingly expensive.
I really don't see how I can make it. I never thought of living in another country, but I am now.

Well said Patrick, and I agree with you. I love the USA too, I'm a Vet, but for a political moderate with a live and let live mindset, the USA today is challenging, especially for us older folks. So after researching my options, I decided my best option was to leave, so I did. My main reason for leaving was to relax, and yes, finances. I'm not rich or poor, I'm just a guy looking to live the rest of his life in peace.
I spent 10 yrs takiing care of my mom, she passed away in 2020 at 95urs old, and it cost me alot. not everythiing, but damn close. So at 62 I took my SSI and started planning where and how to go_ at 65 I was ready, sold everything and made the move. I traveled a lot in my life and career so had some Idea of the challenge it would be and what was out there. I have been in the Philippines for a while and while I love the country and people, I'm getting old and it's just too hot. Also I enjoy bicycling and that is not possible here. Sure living is inexpensive, good beef and potatoes are not and we can't buy a home, so time to move again. Next stop, Albania. I arrive in Tirana later in the month and am really looking forward to some cooler weather, a good meal and a relaxing bike ride.

CONTENT TIPS: A video listing your reasons for moving to Pogradec. Telling us a very broad statement of "it has things we want, you may. not want those same things" is too vague. And, of course you cannot cover it all in ever video. So, it. might make a great video. We would love to hear what it was FOR YOU specifically. There will be people that will get. much value from that. Even if it IS NOT what they would want. You will help them check that city off the. list, or get others interested. Thanks for the content. Really appreciate learning about Albania as an option. Many Blessings, and Happy Thanksgiving, Patti Bee, Madison, Wisconsin, UISA

Obviously, the properties listed online tend to be more expensive than when listed locally. Also, the level of complexity involved when buying. Perhaps, you could create a consultation business helping others moving to Albania drawn on your own experiences??? Being able to deal with an ex-pat such as yourself would be very reassuring and invaluable. Keep up the good work and hope all continues to go well for you. 👍

You touched on safety. I find it pathetic the US ranks 129th in personal safety. Number one reason for this ranking? Political instability. The rest of the world sees us as politically unstable. We even have a movie out now about a potential Civil War and what that might look like. Outside of politics, Americans morality and integrity have taken a sharp decline in recent decades. It’s no surprise crime is through the roof. We haven’t decided yet where we would go, but the more we see go to hell in the US the more attractive leaving becomes.

No debt and I was a big saver, but scrimped off of savings for 4 yrs until I was 59.5 last year then I could start pulling from IRAs. I've been watching expat videos from SE Asia, don't know, I'm not very adventurous. What do you do for Medical Insurance? I'm a "retiree" so I have an "affordable" plan from my former employer until 65...Medicare isn't really cheap though, it's daunting. It definitely isn't easy in the US as far as affordability goes in many areas. Depending on what happens with the election and afterward, that might spur me in to action...LOL. I don't know.

My wife wasn't comfortable with the Americas. And i wont force her where she didn't want to go. She was a correction officer for almost 20 years. And delt with many gang members from south America. Before you say it...yes i know there are MANY beautiful areas there. But she asked me not to stay in the Americas .

60 is young to actually retire, if your are healthy. How do you guys spend your time? Instead of buying a house in Albania why don't you consider buying a store and selling something, possible brought from US as that kind of merchandise is hard to find in Albania. Something small just to pass the time and work as much as you feel comfortable. Or maybe teach English in private courses, either to client houses or from your house. Maybe get involved in the local volunteering opportunities.

simply because i dont want to buy a store. Volunteer work yes in the future. We each have our own Retirment dreams. And we have found ours. Hope you are happy in yours.

Hi, I assume you're Albanian based on your comment. My husband and I are considering a long-term stay or move to Albania, one of our concerns is- is Albania big dog friendly? We adopted a female Kangal in Croatia, she isn't huge like some other Kangals (she may be a mix). We take her everywhere, will she be accepted? How about in the coastal cities- is she allowed on the beach?
      Thanks

@@HyperSane-y3k beaches are no problem. dogs allowed. you may have problems with some hotels and Restaurants that dont allow dogs.
in general albanians are very tolerant with foreigners.
