+cool person You only flip the inequality symbol when you divide or multiply by a negative value. Adding or subtracting a negative term or value doesn't flip the sign.

It came from the process of solving for y to put the inequality in Slope-intercept form. In order to isolate y, I eliminated 2x by adding the opposite term -2x to both sides of the inequality.
