Incredible effort, saw you quite a few times during the day and never without a smile on your face, waving that flag high! Keep going your brilliant 💪🏽
Aw thank you very much, I truly appreciate your kindness and support!! I try my very best to focus on gratitude when doing any event. For me, waving that flag high did two things, allowed people to learn about the charity I am fundraising for and secondly, show those struggling with mental health that someone is out there fighting for them. Which is why I told myself throughout, it doesnt matter how tried you become, you stand tall and never lower that flag! Thank you so much for sharing that comment with me, it means the world!! I hope you enjoyed the race, the video and I hope you'll enjoy more to come...
That is awesome! I did wonder if people would see themselves on the video and it's crazy that it just happens to be yourself, twice lol Huge congratulations on completing the race! How did you find it? Do you have anything else lined up this season? Thank you, you'll have to let me know your thoughts...
Hey buddy!! It was so nice to see you, it's been way too long!! I hope you saw yourself in the video lol Thank you for all of your kindness and support as always. I really appreciate it. I hope you're doing well mate.
Great video mate and all the best for the rest of the calendar. Looking forward to that Cork 70.3 / 140.6 double header weekend since I found out you were doing this. Staffordshire was my first 70.3. The thing you said about the road rang true. On the way back into town from the castle, you hit town then have to turn left for an out and back just to make up the distance. Moral killer right there 😂
Aw thank you very much, really appreciate your kindness and support! Yeah I'm really looking forward to Ireland to be honest. I've never done anything like it so should be really interesting, plus I've never been to Ireland so I'm looking forward to that as well. Huge congratulations for Staffordshire 70.3. It was a great race but it was bloody hot wasn't it!! 100% That road was the one wasn't it!!! I personally feel every course as one lol Do you have anything lined up for the rest of the year?
@RecoveryLabTV yeah it was the hottest day I can remember I think definitely not a great day to be doing that in. It helped towards the blow up I had on the bike but wasn't the only reason totally my fault more than outside factors but got the medal and the T-shirt so I was happy enough. I have been out injured ever since with a queried stress fracture in my back from the Dr but all got cleared up this week as no issues there so I am back at it. I am supposed to be back out and Nantwich/Cheshire sprint with some friends from work for their 2nd ever triathlon after we gave them the bug so will see how training goes till then as to if I race it.
@@danhewitt3258 what caused you to blow up, nutrition? I wouldn’t worry too much about it. These are all lessons that we’ve all been through in time. It’s the joys of the journey! Really sorry to hear about your back! I hope it gets better soon. If you’d like I have a load of corrective exercise / prehab videos on my channel that’ll help correct any imbalances you may have that maybe causing the issue. Sounds amazing, it’s always been doing it with friends so you can share the experience. I’m doing IM 70.3 Swansea this weekend and I’ll know a load of different athletes because it’s local to me. Makes it that more exciting 🤩 I hope your training goes ok and it you need any help, just let me know! More than happy to help 🤙🏼
@RecoveryLabTV a big mix of hydration, nutrition, the heat, hay-fever (of all things) and if I'm totally honest with myself completely not respecting the bike and how far a distance it really is especially with the hills. It's only down the road from me and I should have done a recce of the course but didn't. As you say all lessons to take into the next one. I will be back doing another 70.3 for sure and want to step it up to a full at some point but that can wait a few years 🤣
Many, many congrats, the wind (not to mention those hills) made it a hard one for you this year, eh? If you noticed a bloke in City gear atop the rise out of Hawkshaw, just before the right-turn towards Edgworth, clapping and cheering you on throughout all three laps on the bike, to the point that at the end of the day I was hoarse and my hands had several burst blood vessels, then that was me. Loved it! Nowt but full respect to you and everyone brave enough to even enter this truly daunting challenge of an event.
Hey buddy, it was an incredibly tough bike course wasn't it. Super tough winds. I felt sorry for those who didnt make the bike cutoff because of it! However, it's the luck of the draw isn't, all part of the challenge... Thank you so much for being a spectator, it's incredibly kind of you to stand outside for hours and cheer strangers like me around. It makes such a difference having the support from people like yourself. Truly appreciate it!! I hope you had a lovely day and was inspired by watching everyone. It's what inspired me to do my first Ironman. Have you completed one?
@@RecoveryLabTV Nah, strictly the sidelines for me. I'm just gutted that this is the last full Bolton event, it's been my favourite day of the year for a while now. Still, I suppose it gives me an excuse for a long holiday weekend down to Tenby each year.
@@bodsnvimto that’s amazing!! Well done you 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 You’ll still have the Ironman 70.3 UK format? It’ll be interesting to see what that looks like! Have you ever been to watch & support Ironman Wales 🏴? It’s amazing to be fair!! Such an awesome day out. Maybe see you there! 🏊🏽🚴🏽🏃🏽🏁
@@RecoveryLabTV Yes, I'll still watch, cheer on and enjoy the 70.3 but it isn't the same. I mean, whilst you've still got to be a great athlete to compete and complete at that level, what makes the full IronMan event so special is knowing I'm witnessing truly elite superhumans like yourself. I won't be able to make Tenby for this year's event - I'll be under obligation to my American in-laws who will be over here on holiday for a fortnight either side of that weekend - but I'll be certain to make sure I keep future years open. If I ever see you with your flag in the future, I'll give you a shout. I very much appreciate what you're doing, a few years ago I went to see a cognitive behavioural therapist with what I thought was perhaps depression, but she officially diagnosed me with anxiety, in itself still considered a mental illness. Keep up the good work mate.
@@bodsnvimto I totally get it, there are differences when watching a 70.3 when compared to a full Ironman. It’s incredibly inspiring, isn’t it!! I find it fascinating, regardless of what the athlete looks like or their actual finish time. I think there’s something amazing about watching people give it their best!! That’s cool tho, I hope you have an amazing time with them. I hope they love the UK 🇬🇧 Thank you so much for sharing your experience, that’s incredibly brave of you & I think it’ll help others do the same.
