Check out Phantasy Star Online 1&2's soundtrack, there are a LOT of uses of this particular electronica style, specifically the tracks "Crossing", "Pioneer 2" and --- ironically --- "Chaotic Bar"!
Not a fan of bars, but this one I like the most in video games. Must be because of it being a surprisingly tranquil refuge amidst a world of muckraking and instability. Until the next and last time we go there, however.
It took me a bit to figure out exactly what was going on this level. I talked to everyone in the bar hoping to find where im supposed to go. Meeting jock and the reporter for your first time searching for answers is definitely an experience. (and getting yelled at by manderly after)
To be quite honest, I’ve never gotten into Deus Ex until I tried human revolution in September-October 2017 because my brother recommended it to me. Jesus Christ I did not regret one bit of completing that game, months later when July comes I try out the original 2000 release which I didn’t like at first because the first mission is god awful. However, the game gets REALLY good as it goes on. Without a doubt, this is my favorite track in the original series. That synth will NEVER get old. Recently I played and beat Mankind Divided and once I understood all the references it made to the original game, I immediately said to myself this franchise is a masterpiece and worth being in my top 20 favorite games of all time. I still have one more dlc to beat in Mankind Divided but it’s a real shame that we won’t be seeing another Deus Ex game for a while considering all the unnecessary backlash people gave.
Don't mean this in a mean way, but I feel bad you only came to this game though those lesser imitations. Maybe it's a matter of taste. To me, there is no franchise, just this one game.
All that reading... Starting to give me a headache. Lol I also started late with Mankind divided. Just from WATCHING Deus Ex (2000) it really isn't a franchise. 2nd game is very trash to me. Jensen's are good n ok. But JC Denton's is an official classic to me. Right up there with XIII.
HunterShows Agreed. Although I did like HR and MD (call me crazy but I even like IW lol), none of them even come close to the original game. Not only is it the best in the series by a country mile, it’s one of the best games of all time in my opinion. Also JC is the best protagonist.
Oh, they're all fun. IW has its moments, and along with the philisophical chaff, there are some gems in IW. But overall it's not as sophisticated and well developed as Deus Ex. You gotta love that dancing hologram girl. And JC was remarkable. So cool, tough but fair, had a sense of humor. He really felt like a test tube soldier who was uncovering truth concealed from him. Creating another JC is impossible.
Each time I am bored and I use Character AI, I like to start a story in this bar, adding a few extra elements such as some DDR and stuff like that. Sadly JC always gets suspicious if he sees someone in this place. But I think it's a good chatbot, to be honest.
The beginning of the song sounds exactly the same as the song The Overload, by Talking Heads between the minutes 1:30 and 1:34. Heavy inspiration I guess.

This game had an a awesome soundtrack. Brings back memories.
Yes it does. My all time favorite game!
A lot of songs off SILY by the avalanches remind me of this
One of the best BGMs in the game. Also, this is where you meet Jock for the first (and last) time in person.
This music was such an inspiration to me...Well to be honest the whole game was, 11/10. I want to be able to capture the kind of sound at 1:12

I even remember finding a book with the king lear play in it, really one of the most influencial art things for me
The only track on the soundtrack that's in a major key
The music of my life
Drink up.
Ha!
This feels so nostalgic and strangely melancholic to me
I wish I can go back to 2000 and replay this demo and then the full version later 😭
This is my fave song from the game, such a good beat
This track is so good
I've listened to this one on loop for many hours indeed
Me and my friends are going to celebrate my birthday listening this track! ;)
Enjoy!
