Hey man how did u find a tuning thing for ur car I looked up the jb4 thing but I can’t find any for velosters and did u just do the setting on it your self and find what makes it pop the most?
The JB4 is for the Kia stinger but works on the Veloster N engine as well. There’s many people with the VN that run JB4 without issue. And no, unfortunately JB4 does not control the popping, that’s just because it’s catless.
I forget that infamous ST tune, but this might be cooler 😂 😂 . Only because I have the N too. It’s so loud inside the car, are you able to hear yourself talk? Lol I can only imagine what it sounds like to other people. How much HP? You definitely got gains off that down pipe plus the intake with the tune. Have you considered using the Velossa tech snorkel? That thing is pretty sweet man. Cool video.

I only ask because the supposed power of the original car say 275. We know that’s not at the wheel. I mean damn I thought it was fast but I couldn’t imagine what your car is doing. Lol that thing is nice.what else do you have planned.

I'm a mustang guy and since my truck never works properly, I'm highly considering one of these. I need something that's manual, fun, reliable, and that can go in the snow. I don't like vw and I don't want an si or a type r, so those are out of the question. How do you like the car? They look good, and seem like they handle really well.
Test drive one. And then test drive one again. Also, consider a veloster turbo r spec. It's like an SI, but without the annoying electronic parking brake and sounds waaaaay better. The N isn't for everybody, but damn if i don't love mine! Also, i hope you don't like cheap, dull interiors because the N gets a bad rep in that department, but I don't care at all, and maybe you won't care when it goes snap, crackle, pop! As far as snow goes, just make sure you get your snow tires and done. I've never driven a car that handles as well as the N in hazardous road conditions. Super stable, no issues. Fuel economy's kind of a joke though, because you're always gonna be ripping it. Take one for a spin!
Hey so I have the same downpipe and mid pipe installed. The pops are awesome but its sometimes really raspy and between 2k and 3k rpm its sounds really bad like a straight fart can. Do you still have stock muffler on? and do you get any weird rattling, vibrations, or fart can sounds between 2k and 3k rpm? also get pretty bad vibrations noises from what sounds like the muffler cruising on the freeway. might put the resonator back in to try and make it sound better.
Hay DC, can you post the link to the exact downpipe you purchased. I looked through HDT's website and im not totally sure which one it is. I assume its this one: Flexstück / downpipe to downpipe Hyundai i30N without OPF. Did you have to get anything else other than an 02 extender?
Do you still own the veloster? How has it been treating you? I’ve been thinking of getting one but hyundai/kia don’t have a great track record with reliability for the past decade especially with their 4 cylinder turbos. Either a veloster or a focus rs, tho rs are super overpriced around me lol
I don’t have it anymore, but I have friends who still do and they haven’t had major issues. The 5 year/100,000km warranty definitely brings peace of mind. I only owned it for about 30,000KM but I had 0 issues.
The downpipe was around $800 with the flex pipe I believe after currency conversion. Installation is free if you do it yourself but it’s tricky sometimes.

Nikolai Bonnkarovsky it doesn’t, that’s for available for other engines but unfortunately not the N. This is a completely stock tune. This is what the N sounds like in its natural state without a Catalytic converter and resonator.
Hi, Im looking to get the same exhaust and had a few questions. Did you get 70 or 76 mm? Does it fit the stock heat shield? And did it throw a CEL with/ without the jb4 tune? Thanks!!!
76mm, had to remove a portion of the heat shield if I remember correctly. Had no issues though. Also, I used a universal o2 sensor spacer to avoid CEL. JB4 had nothing to do with controlling the CEL after going Catless. Hope that answers your question!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but from past experience all catless downpipes will sound the same as any other catless downpipe (if the rest of the exhaust is the same and same diameter pipe is used). Unfortunately, I don’t have any other videos other than this one. Just an FYI, it was a pain to take the stock one off and put the new one on. Easier than a BMW though.

I never thought id say this but that thing pops way too much. Like it sounds very good don't get me wrong but wouldn't this get annoying every now and then? I understand that there's an exhaust flap but wouldn't it still pop quite a bit since you decatted the downpipes?

DesiredFilm I have an F80 an M4 that’s catless aswell. doesn’t pop in eco or sport. Just in sport plus. The N did pop in normal as-well but not nearly as much of noticeable. I’ll make a video on that soon.

I'm assuming the loss of backpressure increased the amount of popping because that's way more than stock, or at least what mine does with my stock exhaust. Personally I like it. I'm sure it probably seems different to you than it sounds on video? Did it increase your burbling? Also, are you able to hear the BOV, I am not picking that or the Cai up over the exhaust. Also, did you change anything else with the exhaust? Pretty wicked man, thx for the video
It's actually a stock ECU tune with a piggyback for higher boost targets. The pops came with the car, but once you go catless it really wakes the pops up.
sergio tapia You hear and feel it ALL the time, when you accelerate moderately to aggressively! Even with the stock exhaust setup, it’s very audible. Some like it and some don’t, but we love it.
It doesn’t pop nearly as much, and they are very muffled. If it pops, it only pops from gears 1->2->3 upshifts (depending on when you shift) and vice versa.
D C that anti lag is beautiful, these remind of the caliber srt4’s, turbo hatch, good stock exhaust, lots of burbles, this engine is the same as the 4B11 so that’s a good reason why it sounds so good
i really want the catless but this might be a bit to much, its border line for the cat 600$ more though. definetly need an intercooler for this car same color as mine nice choice. i love it but i can see cops bugin over this where i am.
Just pop it in normal mode as seen around the 6:17 of the video and cops should not be an issue. This car definitely needs more cooling that’s for sure.

Did you remove the resonator? And it doesn't really pop on acceleration just deceleration correct? I love it i have watched your video so many times lol. Plus 600 cheaper helps. Its funny because i picture dde channel you know all the super cars sound like that. I would love to drive by them with a Hyundai they would flip with the sound. I’m not that impressed. The mag a45 looks faster and it’s also a 2.0l engine. I wonder if tuning this to 400hp would give the same sense of speed at least from this POV. I know 75hp isn’t a great deal more than my 200hp forte5 turbo but the speed sensation looks pretty much the same. I drive mine hard as well.
The AMG is also almost twice the price brand new and also AWD. How are you going to compare a forte5 turbo to this? You’re in for a real surprise in the real world... You must be one of those people that thinks their 5000lb sedan is faster than a 3000lb car with less horsepower. No offence of course!
D C I know it’s hard to feel neutral when someone basically offended your purchase decision but hey I’m not trying to say you made a bad decision. I’m also in Ontario and so price differential is all very familiar to me. All I’m saying is the VN doesn’t look that fast compared to videos where I’ve seen of the a45 hooning around Paris streets like a bat out of hell. I was expecting a little more rapid scoot scoot but that could be down to no cars around you to give that perspective. I actually raced a guy on the DVP in a VN. I was expecting to get beat bad but I wasn’t. It’s all in good fun though I think it’s all in the tuning because AWD at speed isn’t going to make a huge difference imo.
I’m obviously interested in the VN otherwise I wouldn’t be watching tour video. For the money it’s still probably the best bag for the money. I wouldn’t even consider a CTR the way it looks. And anything from the Germans would be as you said nearly twice the price. FWIW, I’ll wait and see if Hyundai will bring out their RN30concept. They are already testing a mid engine veloster in Europe but you can bet that will even be more than a $50k Golf R in price making this FWD VN the only game in town.

The Hyundai Kia DCT are garbage which is why they needed to develop a new wet one for the upcoming veloster N. can’t take power upgrades without breaking and have actual shown to be slower than a manual in some races.

I would go with JB4 over Racechip. I had the car for a year and loved every minute of it. I upgraded to BMW M4.

how did you pair the pipes? did you get a 76mm downpipe flange and the 76 mm flexpipe input to 70mm output?
The flexpipe is goes from 76MM to 70MM so you can bolt it directly to factory pipe.
What brand BOV are you using ? And what intercooler you might get in the future ?
I ended up getting the Forge Intercooler. The BOV was Forge as well.

I did not experience anything like that, I have heard of the exhaust flap becoming loose causing rattle.

It’s for the i30N so that may be part of your issue. Just the downpipe, flex pipe, and a universal 90 degree o2 sensor from amazon.

Doubt it. Different engine. VN has 2.0 turbo, you have 1.6 turbo.

It's called "normal mode". You can see the drive mode buttons on the steering wheel.

It’s a totally different car in my opinion than the Veloster everyone knows.

It’s just a JB4 “tune”. The ECU is still running stock. The pops are just from being catless, would be even better if I knew a trustworthy tuner.

I'm assuming the loss of backpressure increased the amount of popping because that's way more than stock, or at least what mine does with my stock exhaust. Personally I like it. I'm sure it probably seems different to you than it sounds on video? Did it increase your burbling? Also, are you able to hear the BOV, I am not picking that or the Cai up over the exhaust. Also, did you change anything else with the exhaust? Pretty wicked man, thx for the video

What tune is this monster running???
It's actually a stock ECU tune with a piggyback for higher boost targets. The pops came with the car, but once you go catless it really wakes the pops up.
How was the downpipe install

How are the pops in normal mode
sergio tapia You hear and feel it ALL the time, when you accelerate moderately to aggressively! Even with the stock exhaust setup, it’s very audible. Some like it and some don’t, but we love it.
It doesn’t pop nearly as much, and they are very muffled. If it pops, it only pops from gears 1->2->3 upshifts (depending on when you shift) and vice versa.
Almost sounds like it’s got a stratified tune like the st’s or unless its a burble tune

D C that anti lag is beautiful, these remind of the caliber srt4’s, turbo hatch, good stock exhaust, lots of burbles, this engine is the same as the 4B11 so that’s a good reason why it sounds so good
i really want the catless but this might be a bit to much, its border line for the cat 600$ more though. definetly need an intercooler for this car same color as mine nice choice. i love it but i can see cops bugin over this where i am.
Just pop it in normal mode as seen around the 6:17 of the video and cops should not be an issue. This car definitely needs more cooling that’s for sure.
@@F82DREI yes i have been thinking long and hard about which to go with, on every car ive owned i have always removed the cats, especially do to no emissions laws here. Question? Did you remove the resonator? And it doesn't really pop on acceleration just deceleration correct? I love it i have watched your video so many times lol. Plus 600 cheaper helps. Its funny because i picture dde channel you know all the super cars sound like that. I would love to drive by them with a Hyundai they would flip with the sound. Plus i can see how much stronger the car looks and you weren't really giving it all the beans. I definitely will be getting one or the other just need to think about it. Thanks for replying.

I’m not that impressed. The mag a45 looks faster and it’s also a 2.0l engine. I wonder if tuning this to 400hp would give the same sense of speed at least from this POV. I know 75hp isn’t a great deal more than my 200hp forte5 turbo but the speed sensation looks pretty much the same. I drive mine hard as well.
The AMG is also almost twice the price brand new and also AWD. How are you going to compare a forte5 turbo to this? You’re in for a real surprise in the real world...

D C I know it’s hard to feel neutral when someone basically offended your purchase decision but hey I’m not trying to say you made a bad decision. I’m also in Ontario and so price differential is all very familiar to me. All I’m saying is the VN doesn’t look that fast compared to videos where I’ve seen of the a45 hooning around Paris streets like a bat out of hell. I was expecting a little more rapid scoot scoot but that could be down to no cars around you to give that perspective.
I actually raced a guy on the DVP in a VN. I was expecting to get beat bad but I wasn’t. It’s all in good fun though I think it’s all in the tuning because AWD at speed isn’t going to make a huge difference imo.
I’m obviously interested in the VN otherwise I wouldn’t be watching tour video. For the money it’s still probably the best bag for the money. I wouldn’t even consider a CTR the way it looks. And anything from the Germans would be as you said nearly twice the price. FWIW, I’ll wait and see if Hyundai will bring out their RN30concept. They are already testing a mid engine veloster in Europe but you can bet that will even be more than a $50k Golf R in price making this FWD VN the only game in town.
It takes 7 Grand and a dct for a 1.6t to beat a N and that's from a roll from a dig the N still wins.
John Dobbins speaking from experience buddy? I don’t know how effective the launch control of the N vs left foot. The Hyundai Kia DCT are garbage which is why they needed to develop a new wet one for the upcoming veloster N. can’t take power upgrades without breaking and have actual shown to be slower than a manual in some races.

Just put the drive mode in Normal and it’s all gone. No sound at all. “N” mode was intended to be for the track.
Agree he could of put in a magnaflow metal race cat 200 cell count and would be good to go with less noise and still have performance.
