I am Chinese and I have been to India for twice recently.
India is like great melting pot.
people in different states speak different language with different culture.
Indian people are kind and nice to hang out with.
I have already a couple of Indian friends.
I am happy that Indian people understand English so that it is quite easy stay for me.
I believe India has great potential to be super power.
We (Chinese) have nothing against India and we are happy to see India's success.
Let's have positive mind,do not bashing each other like babies fighting on nothing but bad.
Remember that easy to make enemy while hard to make friends.

The skyscrapers were built on huge farmlands. The farmers started getting very very rich during the 2000-2010 because of big companies buying their lands at high rates.
I think it's faster to build things when the world unites. We just brought in every innovation. Many American, Russian, European, Korean, Japanese and now Chinese companies have huge investments here which is why India is what it is today.

This was very enlightening. I am in an Indian community and found them to be the perfect neighbors. They are clean living people. I suspect the British had a lot to do with the pillaging of their country. I wish you would have spoken more on the difference you found in Indian cuisine found in India and outside of India. It appears to be the same case when comparing it with the authenticity problem found with Chinese food. That would make a lovely segment, all politics aside of course.

THE most common restaurant main dish in Northern India is probably Chicken or Vegetable Manchurian - which is an Indian take on Chinese cuisine... You hardly ever find that in the UK, but Chicken Tikka Masala, which is everywhere here, was invented here as a take on Indian cuisine. I've always found this quite amusing.

I am studying in Mangalore and trust me when I say he only showed One side of that place. Mangalore is a educational center as in there are ton of colleges with students coming from different parts of India. And the place is developed with malls and pubs far better than the ones he showed. Good pubs are London street, Top house, Recycle, Spindrift, G Lounge, Liquid Lounge , Bollywood adda, Froth on top etc. The most fanciest being Onyx. And yes, there are no Free Wifi, because most WiFi are password protected but you can go to internet cafes or small internet package if you need. The places he showed were mostly in the outskirts of Mangalore city, with parts that doesn't show the shopping malls. I don't know if he is intentionally trying to hide to potray a particular image or not but it may be that he didn't have a proper guide to show around. But with the advent of JIO, internet is the cheap and more easily available in India now. So it can also be your timing.

I lived in Bengaluru, Karnataka for two month around a decade ago.
It was a fascinating experience. The people were incredibly nice.
The food was delicious. I’m not a big clubber or drinker, so I can’t really speak to that aspect.
The two items that made the biggest impression on me were:
    1. Dogs. Dog packs were everywhere. They have their own functioning society in the city.
    Humans don’t bother the Dogs.
    Dogs don’t bother the Humans.
On the streets in the US, you will occasionally encounter dogs that are furtive, fearful, and avoidant.
In India, there was a pack territory, less than a hundred feet from the main entrance to the building I worked in.
Thousands of people used that entrance every day. More than fifty dogs were completely feral and unafraid.
    2. Acceptable Risk. People in Bangalore (Bengaluru’s former name) were willing to accept a level of risk in their personal lives that seemed incomprehensible to me. Five people (Father, Mother, three children) on a 125cc bike seemed insane when I first saw it.
By the end of my time, it was just background noise.

I've been going to India on and off for 30 years and in my opinion the pollution problem has gotten worse. 30 years ago soft drinks were all served in glass bottles. You had to stand near the seller to drink it. These days you buy plastic bottles and take them away. Invariably the plastic then ends up polluting land and waterways. There's been no change over that time in the friendliness of Indians - Indians have always been pretty friendly. I've seen minor improvements in poverty, but mostly poverty is still fairly bad. 30 years ago polio was quite bad, now you don't see it. Internet is easy to get in India now. I think you still need an Indian address to get a SIM though. Indian food is great everywhere and is causing fewer health issues than it did 30 years ago where the chance for a foreigner getting delhi belly was 100%, now it's, like, say only 50%! I've also been to China and found it hard to travel because of the constant Chinese "freedom" vs foreigner restrictions. Dunno if that has changed. For example, trains 30 years ago in China had foreigner allocations, e.g. 2-3 foreigners max per train unless you pretended to be a Chinese student or employee using fake ids. Food in China was terrible back then. I lost almost 20 kilos because all you could eat was boiled rice and bits of chewy unrecognisable animal.

The head shaking is actually quite interesting serpentza. It comes from ancient times, in memorizing the Vedic texts vis a vis the discreet sounds of Sanskrit. Because India was primarily an oral culture (originally) and because the Vedas were memorized, each turn of the head corresponded to a discreet sound in the text. Hence, to better memorize the text, the body was incorporated by moving the head deliberately per each discreet sound (kind of like a syllibal). You can still see groups of Indian children, heads turning in sequence, as the Vedas, Upanishads and other Brahmanic Text are recited at religious schools.

India think thier real enemy is China not Pakistan and India has always wants to catch up with China(Actually many Indian think they’re stronger than China today),but most Indian haven't realized that China's economic strength and military strength,So I think if India wants to catch up with China and defeat it, they have 6 strengths and China do not have these advantages:
    1.More young people.
    2.The advantage of English language.
    3.Democratic system.
    4..Plentiful talent reserve.
    5.Domestic consumption economic structure.
6.East and west are coast, like America.
But India have many weaknesses,This is India’s weaknesses and my suggestion:
    1. The local government’s power is too strong that cause many positive National policy cannot implement in India.
2.India have not a Unified Tax system and integrierter nationaler Markt (Especially must build a unified Tax system)
3.Because The global manufacturing overcapacity,so India Must adjust the economic structure.
4.Raise the urbanization rate and Increase the infrastructure construction.(Especially is expressway and power station)
5.Improve the messy and inconsistent law.
6.Stop the vicious struggle between the parties.
7.Taking a strong stance strike the bureaucracy and corruption(China have this issue too).
    8.Abolishment caste System
9.Adjust land policy and Enterprise labor policy
10.Many Indian have no concept of time and always unpunctuality,Punctual person is very important for modern society.
If Narendra Modi or the future leaders can improve those weaknesses so India catch up to the China is not a dream.

When I was growing up, I would admonish my friends who would litter the street with trash, eg, food wrappers, newspapers, etc and they would get really angry at me and ask me if I’m a westerner to teach them civility. Britain left India in a state were she had her hands full of immediate issues preventing a balanced developement in the wake of independece. First a complete relocation of the populace based on religion and ethnicity, causing some 6-15 million dead (highly insecure estimates, as you can tell and reflecting the sheer chaos erupting from this last farewell gift of the British, the division of the subcontinent into two Pakistans and a string of smaller, independent nations. Two wars with Pakistan resulting in the creation of Bangladesh as a sovereign state and an unsteady cease fire over a vast area of disputed territory covering westernmost Himalaya - where the chinese now have started to meddle, btw, expanding on their initiative and gaining economical control over Pakistan among others. - - - Also, it's only in a strict economical sense, you can say China is 20 years ahead. India, considering her vast population, is a very, very good example of a successfully functioning democracy, easily surpassing many other "fledgling" democracies and even coming off more accomplished than some western, much older democracies. China doesn't even figure here for obvious reasons.

You really needed to experience a big city in India. I stand behind some of your comparisons like the lack of infrastructure and general hygiene. But in any big city in India, any issues you had with alcohol, beef or internet would be non-existent. Internet access can still be tricky sometimes in India and that's an issue to some extent even in big cities. But everyone I have ever known has grown up on great meat - be that chicken, lamb, goat, beef or pork - and alcohol too. All that said, you gave a very balanced opinion on what you personally experienced. I really appreciate that. And you went to Mangalore. Their seafood and in general their cuisine is really amazing to me. Hope you had a great time there. 🙂

One of the worst thing I find in general Indian behaviour is that they throw stuff around like rest of the city is not their home, they will keep their house clean but not their streets. And our social system isn't really complete, I think China and India still have a lot to catch up.. We absolutely still have a lot spitting and rubbish on the street. The only difference is the government spent a lot on cleaning. Hope we can make a change in the next 10 years... Cheers, love indian food btw.

Indian media talks abt everything wrong in India unlike Chinese media. and everything we hear abt China is filtered as general Indian perception abt China is that it's a well developed country with everything good abt it. Yes our big population is bad as well as good for us. but in my opinion, both India and China with their great economic growth and development will never reach a stage where there is no poverty. look at america even with 17 trillion dollar economy which is the highest today, they have 31 million poor homeless people out of 350 million total population and our population size is 5 times more than theirs. and greetings from India :)
