Perfect 20 minute masterclass. The hardest part of being an Alex Farran Patreon member is to choose which songs to learn first. Highly recommended! Thanks Alex, just lovely.
this and another song are the reason I got interested in music. I was 15 or so at a boys camp ( good boys ). Two songs came over the radio. One was this . The other you may not be aware of. In the early rock days in San Franciso there was a band named 'Love'. Apparently it was the reason that the Rolling Stones first came to America. To hear them. They did rock and jazz flavoured rock. If you get the time, you might check out an album of theirs titled 'De Capo'. And the title of the song is ' Orange Skies '. The song was way ahead of any pop rock tune of the day. Nice guitar work with a flute solo.
You mean I have a new vid ? New lesson ? Well. I watched about 10 of your lessons maybe 15, and each one requires a lifetime study, I’m in my mid 50’s… not sure I’ll click play on this one 🤣 Kidding! Of course I will. Plus I’m happy, it’s a long time I had this classic tune in my (endless) “to work on” list. Thanks Alex 🙏
NICE!! Great chord choices on acoustic, beautiful tone and technique on the electric. And excellent explanations of the chords and their functions. I need to practice this, but I keep replaying it just to listen!
Oh Wow Alex, I purchased your Crazy Arms Vid and backing track and thought that was awesome, and now I find this lesson, I can't say enough how great this one is. Thanks for your excellent instructional abilities.
Very nice! 🎉 I play guitar as my go to instrument when I want to sing , but played this , taught this on piano for years . The easy part on the piano is that you can play melody on top easier, but I reach for that guitar ALWAYS when I want to sing still !
Great lesson, relatively easy to follow even for a sort of a beginner like me! I purchased the whole lesson and will look forward for more in the future! Keep it up!
First off, finally took the plunge on the Patreon and I'm so glad I did. This one's been on my bucket list for a long time. Once again it feels high quality and accessible. I'm excited to take this one on also for the 6/9 chords as I was just learning the Jimi Hendrix tune, if 6 were 9, which makes great use of 6/9 chords. I love that connection. These are perfect for major pentatonic scales, right? Your lessons are inspiring me to finally start using my looper in earnest. My bigger goal being that I want to play solo gigs or play complete tunes and this feels like a step in the right direction. Can you say more about the click track you're using during the looper section? Also your bass lines sound so clear. I'll be curious if mine comes anywhere close or if you're doing something special to get that deep, resonating tone to ring through. Cheers!
Thank you my friend, I genuinely appreciate your support over on Patreon and your comment here on RUclips 🙏🏻 I’m so glad you find the lessons to be inspiring!.. that’s exactly my goal here. The click is just a metronome, nothing more fancy than that.. I use an app called “Pro metronome” which is nice and simple to use. As far as the clarity of the bass notes, I think as long as you’re picking the strings evenly, and as long as you have a nice clean tone dialled in, it should sound pretty smooth and well defined. 👍🏻
Thanks mate, much appreciated 🙏🏻 Yeah, there are some real bargains to be had used. Older classical guitars can be had very cheap. The one I’m using in this video is a birth year Yamaha (1985) when they were handmade in Japan. Very high quality build and only cost me £300! I’d also recommend looking for anything by Ramirez, Raimundo or Giannini 👍🏻
I had a 63, 175 and ended up using half wounds to get both that smooth feel of full wounds but also the rounded tone or bite ( when played with attack) of the nickel wounds like I use now on my JP.. Like you I have regrets on guitars I no longer own..
Absolutely my friend, great question. If you have my sheet music, you’ll see that some of the chord hits will have 8th note rests after, implying that you release the pressure on the strings as opposed to letting them ring out. Definitely an important detail as you rightly say. 👍🏻

Well said!
Ah thank you Gert, I appreciate your enthusiasm so much my friend! 🙏🏻
My favorite bossa. Never gets old to me. Nice job!
Glad you enjoyed it my friend 🙏🏻
Probably the best and coolest tutor on RUclips 👍👍👍
Wow thank you buddy! 🙏🏻
I also think Alex, you need to extend into a whole new area, a fashion range, and interior design. Again another sublime lesson.
Haha you should be my business manager! 😅
A Classic!❤
Indeed! 👌🏻

Thanks for the comment mate. Oh yes, “Love” was a band I listened to a lot growing up, always been a fan. Will revisit the song you mentioned 👍🏻

Great lesson, thank you. 6/9 chords are one of my favorite substitutions for Maj7 chords. 😊
I’m totally there with you mate, my go-to Major chord 👌🏻

Truly outstanding. What brand model is your classical guitar?
Thank you! 🙏🏻 The classical is a Yamaha from 1985.. nothing too special but it’s from my birth year so I couldn’t resist it!

Awesome as always, Any recommendations for classical guitars? I've always wanted one but have no idea what I am looking at.
Thanks mate, much appreciated 🙏🏻

Interesting!.. I’ll have to give the half rounds a go. Will order a set later 👌🏻
Important detail: releasing pressure on some chords or retaining it on certain beats to sound legato? muscle memory questions :)

Why don't you have your own Spotify profile. Your guitar covers are very good.
Thanks mate, glad you like my playing! Sure, I'll put some stuff up on there sometime soon for sure ☺️
