@10:17 "It's my responsibility to manage my dog when I'm in the real world like this". Thank you for saying this! I experience so many dog owners that don't share this same ideology and it certainly can become very frustrating. Of all the episodes from the dog training experience, videos like this really highlight the practical and necessary exposure a dog needs in order to be socially trained.
I agree. I’ve had a dog for 10 months, this is also my first ever dog, and this has been my greatest lesson. My dog is my responsibility to behave correctly around all situations. I too have discovered that this isn’t the case with a lot of other dog owners.
My dog was a stray for a long time and is still struggles when dogs approach intensely so it annoys me when people have energetic dogs off leash with the excuse that they're friendly so it's okay
Finally someone on RUclips, who still knows how to teach a dog, without using an ecollar. If a jogger comes running, you may want to try to position yourself between the dog and the jogger and tell your dog what to do (e.g. "sit"). You dont want the dog to decide in that situation, especially if it is insecure. But I guess, I am telling you nothing new. You seem very experienced. Great to watch! Greetings from Germany.
Hi! I’ve recently adopted a border collie and it’s obviously been a tough first few days. He’s getting so much better everyday, and it’s mainly because of your training videos. Thank you for the help!
I am so glad to hear you acknowledge that for some dogs they wont take treats in new environments that they find really stimulating--for our new 3 yr old rescue, his #1 high value reward is getting to keep walking/exploring and he has no interest in treats on walks. i also loved the part about sometimes just having to manage your dog when unexpected things happen. some of the paths we walk are quite narrow and we cant get enough distance from other dogs to stop our pup's reactivity. we just have to manage.
moxie433 - good luck with your rescue dog!! As to your comment, this is why I love Zak's videos - they show the process of training warts and all rather than simply showing a perfectly compliant dog, as, for example, Cesar Milan's vids do. Cesar's vids are entertaining but don't really help us real life dog owners (in fact they can lead to feeling inadequate)
Zak, I devoured your book Dog Training Revolution in one day. I cannot thank you enough; I feel prepared and excited to train my new puppy, whereas before, I never thought it was something I would be able to do.
I'm an LVT and I've started having clients with new puppies watch your channel, especially right now when there aren't a whole lot of puppy classes up and to running. Thank you for being such a great, professional, and most importantly realistic resource for pet parents!
Zak is so great and calm, with all his training. Thank you for helping us all with training our dog’s. I am a older lady getting my first puppy, a standard goldendoodle, I have been watching as many training videos as I can. My fur baby will be ready for her forever home in mid to late July. I am so excited and watching your training videos has given me the confidence I need to have a well behaved dog. What a blessing you give to other’s. Sharon S
We loved seeing you all out in the woods for this video. It came out amazing and her training really shined. We'll be watching this one again. Also excited for the birthday coming up! Thanks again for both of your hard work on these episodes.
Your videos have helped me and my family soooo much, I have a 2 months cocker spaniel and so far he understands come, sit and we are working stay and walking with a leash. It also would be sooo interesting you have a section where your followers send you a video where they train their dog and you can let us know what are we doing wrong or right with their training
Zak: ‘Have you ever noticed how so many different dog treats taste the same?’ Me: ‘Oh yeah, they always make the same flavors;, pumpkin, chicken, turk...’ Zak: *eats dog treat* Me: 😳 ‘ohhhh we’re on different pages here’lol!!
I am getting a dog soon and everything else I found has looked horrible and your videos are the best! I love them so much and have saved them and wrote down info I will need! Keep up the AMAZING quality!!
Honestly, it is amazing to see how well trained and responsive she is now, when you see her along the way. So real, and so affirming of how its a process!
I've recently just found your channel and I am so glad I did! I really feel like you give great advice and that you always encourage us to look at the world through our dogs eyes. Using dogs that need to work on skills has also been very encouraging for me! Our sweet Dobie is great off-leash walking, but on-leash is mostly a battle that leaves me exhausted and discouraged. I'll admit, it led to us not consistently taking him on (leashed) walks. We end up choosing to go a big field and play fetch instead (which he really does LOVES). With COVID-19 I've been making more of an effort to take him on long hikes and going to the field, but walking is still difficult. I started watching your channel and it really gave me the tools to help our walk! Today was the best day yet! Thank you for helping us :) Walks are going to be wayyyy better in just a month, I just need to stick with it.
Inertia is doing great! My puppy is about this age, and we are still working hard on walking behaviors. But he does LOVE water, thank goodness he's good in quiet areas
omg zak i am getting a golden retriever puppy tomorrow!! her name is paisley!! i am so glad i watched every single one of your videos!! they are going to be such a great help in making paisley a well rounded dog!
Hey Zak I remember when you did a show on CBBC called who let the dogs out. I always thought it was cool how you could teach dogs tricks like that so well. Keep up the good work :)
its fun to watch a city dog experience nature for the first time.. I'm the opposite.. me and my rough collie spend most our time in the woods and country, city's are a rare place for us to visit;;
Thank you so much for this video! My 3 month puppy is so distracted by everything at our house! So we need to work on him coming when called. He’ll do it but not when he’s hyper. I love your videos!

Hi Zak! I got your book a couple days ago and it came yesterday!!! So far it’s a very nice book, thank you so much for providing this book for people and being a very dog training teacher!!!
My border collie Caydee never wanted food when we were outside ..playing with the kids, agility play, training , walking etc- her reward was a telling her how good she was and then getting right back at it..she recently died (age 14) and I will be getting a new puppy in a few weeks, which is why I'm watching your videos. I like most of what you say (while I understand your view, for me personally, I wanted my dog to say hello to as many people as possible so if someone asked to pet her I almost always said yrs- plus Caydee lived getting attention- and she was such a well behaved girl. Wish me luck with the new puppy (a small aussiedoodle- so a whole new world after only ever having border collies before). Thanks for the great training info.
You eating that treat was great!!!!! My daughter says mom he's training himself and the doggie. So glad to of found these videos tho much help on my non social ed abused 3 year old Chinese crested. We have made huge success in 7 months of work but still long road ahead!!
I have to comment just because you hardly ever see her Bree is a huge part of all this too!! If she wasn’t the camera person you wouldn’t seeIng anything that Zak and Nertia do!! So Bree you are just Awesome and doing a fantastic job of getting everything on camera👏👏❤️🌹 And I love you all and Zac you are a fantastic dog trainer🙌🏻🐶❤️
Thank you for another great video! I love how you always keep it positive, something I struggle with when my 35kg rescue dog(3years old) has me knocked down or dragged along on the lead :) we are getting there tho, your videos really help because you show that it doesn't always go perfectly after showing a dog how to do something a few times. Thank you 😊
Oh, wow! That place is beautiful, and Inertia did so well! It looks like she had a blast exploring! I would have run, screaming, from the snake...lol, but otherwise, what a fun place! Thanks for another fun video! God bless and hugs to you, Bree, and all of the fur babies!☺️❤️
I need a video on how to train your neighbours to stop making up stories about you and your dog to fill their petty little lives...but then I guess Zak deals with a lot more of that than I do...with so much class! So inspiring!
Thanks, Zac! I've watched about 10 hours of your videos so far, starting with the beginning of Inertia's training. They've been great in helping me prepare for training my new Irish Setter, Lady, who's coming home next weekend. I'm sure I'll be watching more to help reinforce MY training in how to raise a well behaved dog.
We live in an RV so almost every time I open the door for my pup it’s a new location. Finally training that seems like something we can work on. (So many others just haven’t worked or made sense)
Hey zak I started watching inertia’s training videos at the start for a few weeks months ago when I got my dog around the same age and just remembered you guys and wanted to come see how inertia’s journey has been going
Hi Zak, thanks for yet another enjoyable and useful video! During the past two weeks I have been binge-watching the entire Inertia series and I love seeing what a charming and well behaved lady she has become! Yesterday the postman brought me an early birthday present: One "Dog Training Revolution" and one "Guide to a Well-Behaved Dog". Already mostly through Revolution for the first time. :) Thank you for everything you do! I already feel much better prepared for my first dog in a few months!
I eat dog treats, too... Just to taste them, I don't snack on them, ZAK. Also I have a dog training channel I recently started and I appreciate any support!
Great video. I love the idea of the 50 foot leash. I am nervous about how my dog will react off leash, because out the the "wild" there are so many distractions. I also picked up on the comment about sometimes even treats will not be enough to get their attention. My dog loves going out for a run, and I have a real hard time training him to calm down before going out the door. I can try and give him a treat and rub his chest and all sorts of things, but as soon as he has the leash on and and I am suited up and he is waiting by the door, he is so excited that if I do give him a treat, he may or may not take it, and if he does take it, he might drop it right away because he is so excited to go out for a run. It might just take a lot more time, but the best I can see is that after about 3 weeks, he doesn't pull quite so hard in his rush out the door.

"I'm going to parallel park you like a Cadillac" - Love it! I follow you on IG (under my business name) and have been looking forward to this video. I've also been watching Inertia's training videos. I own/operate a pet sitting/dog walking company and I offer trail walks and dog beach adventures. I use 20 and 30 foot leads and have been toying with the idea of a 50 foot lead. I assume you use nylon long leads? I love them, but I'm a clean freak too, and no matter what, I can't seem to keep them clean. I wash them in a laundry bag, but once they're mud stained...forget it! How do you clean/keep clean your long leads?
I have been watching your channel for 3 years and I still don't have a dog and I swear the day I get one I will train it all day only using your videos so I would love it if you replied
One command I've taught the dogs I've had is "fix your foot" for when they step over their leash. I'm in a wheelchair and it's often hard for me to fix that myself. It's just a step up from "pick up your foot".
That a good command
Thats something I’m going to remember for when I get a puppy next year, thank you!!
That's an awesome command. My husband and I have to try this, he's also in a wheelchair. Thank you!
We do "paw" that's the command for it. My previous dog has it to a science. My current puppy not so much yet LOL
I now consider you a super genius for doing that. Please accept my allegiance, as I’d rather be on your side than against you in any fight 🙇♀️

I wouldn't give treats to my dog I couldn't eat. Fruitables are tasty.
Every new treat I get my dogs I have a bite lol

I’m getting a puppy in 11 days, and this is the only RUclips channel I’m watching right now!! 😂🐕
I pick up my new baby on Friday. I've been doing some serious binge watching!!
Upstate canine academy is a good channel

I assume you use nylon long leads? I love them, but I'm a clean freak too, and no matter what, I can't seem to keep them clean. I wash them in a laundry bag, but once they're mud stained...forget it! How do you clean/keep clean your long leads?
A biothane long line sounds like the perfect thing for you easy to wipe down, doesnt stain, and heavy duty
He liked your comment but never replied

I don't have a dog but I always look forward to these videos and never miss an episode
