There's a special little pawl ball depressor tool that works well for assembling most older 1/4 & 3/8" pear head ratchets. Search for a SPP 744. Also, for the lube, just a light shine of that Super Lube (21030) is all thats necessary, and will preserve the life of gear teeth. Strive for complete coverage of all internal surfaces for rust mitigation. Excess lube can/will prevent reliable pawl/gear engagement... often resulting in sheared gear teeth tips. Note that ratchets experience no significant 'dynamic' loads in use. They do see heavy 'static' loads... which lube's won't help. Cool videos, Thanks!
