  • Day 2 of our Swedish bikepacking adventure dawns bright and dry! We head deeper into the forest, with Wim fearing the trail might become unpassable again. After a minor disagreement over the route (he was right, of course!), we find ourselves backtracking from an overgrown singletrack.
The "paved road" on the map turns out to be a glorious gravel path, which definitely puts a smile on my face! In a charming village, Wim indulges in a delicious muffin while I'm charmed by ducks sunbathing by the fountain (one even tries to snag a crumb!).
The route continues along a scenic paved path, once a railway line! We even get a friendly cheer from a group of teenagers filming a dance routine for TikTok (apparently, it's a universal phenomenon!).
Gravel returns, followed by a not-so-loved singletrack - a hiking trail, actually. We bounce along the narrow path, occasionally wrestling our bikes (and luggage) over fallen trees.
Finally, we reach a perfect spot for the night - a semi-open hut by an idyllic beach. After a quick water boil (non-drinkable faucet!), we encounter a surprise: three hikers. The mother seems less than thrilled about sharing the hut, even though it sleeps six. An awkward silence ensues, broken only by "we are spending the night here" and "bye." Later, we see their tent pitched nearby - a little communication could have gone a long way!
Regardless, we're happy to have the cozy hut to ourselves. A crackling campfire and a reflection on the day's events lull us off to sleep, ready to tackle whatever tomorrow brings!
