I have been a Marshall freak for years. I've had a Plexi, JMP, JCM 800, JCM 900, the Silver Jubilee and the JCM 2000 DSL. For my taste, the JCM 2000 was the best Marshall they made. Great clean sound and there is a ton of usable gain. No need to modify or tweak anything. No need to add any preamp tubes, no other gain stages, etc. It's all there.
Thank you for your comment. I gotta tell you its great information because I always wonder if I should get a JCM 800 or a Silver Jubilee. you comment makes me appreciate my DSL. Ken:D
Im going to buy my first real guitar was also looking for amp, was looking for new and modern. Now I know I need the old stuff. This amp is top on my wishlist.
I definitely think it can do classic punk and it could do Pop Punk if you boost it with an overdrive pedal it would be rad. But to tell you the truth If I was going to start a Pop Punk band I would look into getting a Mesa Boogie or an Orange Rockerverb. Good luck with your search for the perfect punk tone my friend. Ken :D
Hey man great demo. I have an opportunity get one of these at a great price… but I’m wondering, would this be too loud for playing at home? Or can the master volume help with that?
Hey Lionel thank you so much for your question. The answer to your question depends on how much you love power tube distortion. For me the answer is That I can get perfect tones for me at bedroom levels. But if you are very experienced and you absolutely need to melt your power stage then a lower wattage amp may be better in that situation. One more thing comes to mind and that is with an attenuator you can do anything you desire with this amp. Hope this helps. Ken :D
Hey there, I know I’m a year late to this but alas, better late than never. I have the chance to get one of these for a pretty reasonable price. I’m looking for an amp to replace my Orange Crush 12, and I mainly play like Tool, Metallica, stuff like that, but I’d be using it as a bedroom amp, is it able to suit well for those kind of sounds without being cranked all the way up?
I definitly think it can work. Its a very good amp. It may have slightly less gain than the Orange but not wimpy, If you boost with an overdrive than no problem whatsoever it will be perfect. It also might sound Heavier if you scoop your mids. I usually don't scoop my mids but I think it may sound more metal that way. Sorry for not saying for sure but basically it depends on weather you like to boost or how much gain you need. feel free to keep in contact if you have specific questions. Ken:D
@@downstairsgearnguitars-kc7uq Awesome. Also, I’ve heard some worrying things about these amps running really hot and ultimately killing themselves overheating, has yours had any issues with this or is it just older or newer models?

Ever ran a modeller into fx return? Plenty headroom?
@@swardmusic unfortunately I have never used the effects loop. So I do not have the experience to answer your question correctly. Ken :D
