I like to believe Ryouma in the Emperor is smiling and says "Kept me waiting Getter Team" because he saw a glimpse of hope against the future of the Emperor, the future that in Shin Getter Robo he refused to be part of or being responsible of creating, so to him there locked to the will of the Emperor he saw that hope never dies because the Getter Team will always strive for a better future, and in some universe, some timeline, the Emperor future is no more.
To this this day i think the love Armageddon gets is more than it deserves but not matter my hater energies I'll always be blown away by both teams shouting Shine Spark together like that. Gotta be like the single greatest hype moment every animated. They popped off like nobody ever did before and ever will again.

I always felt this scene somewhat empty, I understand that in this situation a heroic and victory ost is not the best but I prefer it that way
To me this IS a victorious moment for the Getter Team, so I agree wholeheartedly that it was in need of a more uplifting soundtrack
