  • Historian demonstrates the first laptop. You will love his humour and imagination. You just have to see what a laptop looks like from 1812 ! Yes they had them back then and here’s proof!

We get our modern words from things in the past as a concept. It's just funny because we're no longer connected to them and we rediscovering them. I also like the storage on paper because it doesn't require batteries.

I'm sure that the one mug on the Desktop in reality is a Recycle Bin!

Er, yeah. They're called "files" and "open" and "desktop" as analogies to the real-world things. That's deliberate. The computer words are adapted from previous words. That's not remarkable and doesn't need to be announced in that patronising tone.

It’s unfortunate you are so serious about how he describes things. It’s meant as humour and he did a great job of holding the kids attention in his audience until the end of his spiel. Thanks for watching. Cheers!

The current young generation don't know those real-world things because they grew up with screens in their faces.

@@domdecosa yep and to give the young people something to connect with he called it a “laptop” which I think was a great way to get their attention giving them a relatable term and let them experience some history from the early 1800’s. In the case of this event the War of 1812. Thank you for watching and commenting.👍
