I wrote and designed this (and happens that I follow your wargame reviews all the time) amazed to see your coverage! ) Mayfair did let a few edits slip....grrr
I really enjoyed the movies back in the day. Also, that board is just beautiful! Too bad for the broken mechanics... I would loved to have it anyway. Thanks for the review!
I just got a chance to play this. My friend got it for me last month. I love the movies and the manga. I need more time with the game but I'm thinking of playing with of a more d&d combat where you just role stats for the character and the enemies, to give some more vareity to the combat, cause yes those combat cards are so limiting.
I think the enemy combat decks should be made of one card from each deck A, B, C, and D. This adds to more randomness and uncertainty for the attacker. I would even shuffle and create my opponents combat deck each turn.

5:40 you're correct; the base number for the stats is 4. This would be a great candidate for Restoration Games ...
I am watching from time to time some of your reviews and the time span between them are very apart because you change your hair style a lot!! ;-)
