Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started traveling full-time January 10, 2016. While daily vlogging was not the original plan, we were having way too many cool experiences not to share every single day! Now travel vlogging is our full-time gig, and we feel like we have the greatest job in the world! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
We’ve pulled inspiration from several of our favorite travel vloggers on RUclips, such as: +Casey Neistat +FunForLouis +Jon Olsson +Mr Ben Brown, and any other talented travel vloggers that RUclips’s algorithm will hopefully connect us with ;)
Watching these videos when you can’t travel is so comforting
Koreans are by far the nicest people you'll meet while travelling.
Your lunch is called Dolsot bimbimbap. Dolsot basically means hot pot, and bibimbap is rice with mixed veggies. The restaurant I used to live by didn’t serve it with meat unless you ordered a special version.
Thanks for filling us in!!!
Dolsot doesn't mean hot pot. Its literal meaning is stone pot. Dol means stone in Korean.
Well in case that food has fish egg, we rather call it 알밥 (arr-bap). It basically has same logic with bibimbap but fish egg makes it totally different food.
Her noodle soup is called 칼국수 (kal-guk-soo), literally means knife noodle. As its been made directly from knife-cut noodle, so is it. Last pancake is one of specialty in gwangjang market, 빈대떡(bin dae dduk) made from ground mung bean.
Zembathecat most useful comment ever!!
What are the thick pancakes??! I want to make them!
I swear you guys have the best travel channel on RUclips! And all I do is watch RUclips travel channels :)
Homsuplo8 ikr ❤️
Thank you :)
I studied abroad in South Korea, it is so weird to see all these familiar places from your perspective! I was with my Korean friend so she was able to explain a lot of this stuff!
I crack up every time they try to say any word in Korean because it was usually sooo wrong. haha But Korean is really difficult so it's totally understandable!
Loved your vlogs of Seoul! I can't believe you guys didn't make it to Hongdae or Gangnam/Sinsa or even Dongdaemun and Insadong.
You guys should totally come back to Korea again to explore even more of Seoul, there's so much to do here. And also to explore more of Korea, it's such a beautiful country.
You still watching them?? I just find it so amazing that your comment was from three years ago lol
I'm so jealous of people who don't have food allergies. They're just like, "I have no idea what this is, but it's so good." I'd be over there with my Epi-Pen ready at any moment
The cinematography and editing these last few videos have been amazing. Keep up the good work!
where is the video where they drink cha cha?
The „yellow root“ in the Gimbap is actually pickled daikon radish (=Danmuji)
Definitely should not have watched this on an empty stomach...
Yes!! The more food, food, food, the more subscribers you'll gain!!
;)
That drink is a rice base water that is also popular in Central America, it's refreshing and it's used to treat stomachaches. Often combined with cinnamon 🌸🌈
Never apologize for sharing thoughts! It's great to hear all the little tid bits of what it's like traveling full time. The up downs. The tips and tricks. Even the down low on no show socks. 👍
My wife and I was wondering where we should go next year for our hols so after seeing this video I think we will walk in your footsteps love the look of the food I hope it is really spicy, great job done guys
YAY! You won't regret it!
Your hair looks gorgeous in this episode Kara!!!
If yo ever visit again I highly suggest trying hotteok which is a type of Korean pancake filled with sweet sugar sauce 👌 it’s also really easy to make at home and ddeokboki, a type of Korean spicy rice cake food, is definitely worth a try
Thank you for another enjoyable year of videos. I hope you both have wonderful holidays with your families. I look forward to your 2018 adventures!
Thank you! Happy you enjoy them :)
Your videos always make me hungry! Specially when it’s asian food, I’m droolling right now. I love your videos, and I think Kara’s editing is awesome! Greetings from Spain!
Once again, killin' it! Fun story with great shooting, editing, and music! See you in the Patreon chat!
THANK YOU 💜
Hey, guys! I have been addicted your channel!!! :) You both are so natural and warm. Kara, your energy is infectious. A quick question though: how do you look so fresh in every single video? 😉😍
I love your videos, cant wait to see where your adventures take you next!!!
+Beyond The Cave thank you! We can't wait either!
I always get a bit concerned when you guys start walking backwards haha. Great videos, i can't stop watching them :)
Hello I just wanted to say that you are hands down my favourite travel vloggers (and a follow alot ofRUclips travel vlogs). I love love your content. Ive travelled a lot and you have an ability to make the viewer feel like they are travelling as well. Great stuff keep it up!!!!
You actually have to let the rice sit awhile and let it “burn”. It creates a nice rice crust and you loosely mix it with your spoon. It is a very popular dish called dolsot bibimbap. The innocence of your comments are hilarious! Keep it up. Sometimes it’s good to venture out like you guys are doing.
Man the days you dont post your vlogs i actually miss you and worry does that make me obessed? If it is im sorry lol love you :)
Don't be sorry :) Sorry for keeping you waiting!
Kara and Nate no worrys great vlog and food
@ Justina Melody Same! Also obsessed and feel the same
I love gwangjang market its one of my favorite places in Seoul!
suky suky
Kimbap is my favorite!! I was waiting for you guys to try it!
If it has fish eggs, then that is al-bap. Next time leave a small layer of rice on the bottom. It will make the rice crunchy and makes for a delicious ending to a good meal. :)
Love you guys smile all the time, can see you really enjoy there, thank you!
Yeah Russia seems so depressing and disorganised after seeing this
Dolsot bibimbop! Let the rice "burn"! It gets crunchy and is SO GOOD!
I’m glad that I ate right before watching this video, or I would’ve been VERY hungry! Love your food vlogs!!
I recently got allbirds. Tried doing them without socks but honestly, I think they are way more comfortable with socks. Good call.
So sorry we have to leave Seoul. Great videos and I can't get enough of your food adventures. Safe travels!
Yes! I love bibimbap!
Nate made a good point. Shoes are such an important travel necessity. Could you guys do a review of the different shoes and sandals yall have tried. What did you like? What didn't you like? And why?
The drink is Bali water which you could consume it in Singapore as well. It’s a very good drink especially after eating a lot of spicy and fried food
lol the lady at the end was doing finger hearts! It’s a trend in Asia, started in Korea.
i just found your channel and I'm hooked! You two are truly an inspiration and i love watching your journey and I must say that Karas smile and how you two always keep a positive spirit, it's amazing, keep up the good work with gorgeous videos, i will be watching!
@Emma Kullenberg I totally agree with you 100%!!! Couldn't have put it in a better way!!!
You guys found Korean comforting food in the market. Great work !!!!!!
Sock saga cracks me up every time!
I literally want to go to Seoul just because of you
i actually appreciated the comments about wool shoes
Mmmmmm dolsot bimimbap! My favourite lunch!
Some Twice in the background 4:31
Yesss
Kara used her curling iron! 😉
Came across your vlog the other day and I have been binge watching ever since! Thank you! Love this so much
Yay! Happy binging! :)
And the sign at the end that the lady was doing was supposed to be the true shape of a heart with aorta and vena cava attached.
So interesting! Thanks!
true shape of a heart? LOL uh no... when the tip of the thumb and pointer finger cross, it looks like a heart.
The sock saga is ok. I enjoy everything you guys say. You guys are hilarious.
The dish is actually called al-bap (알밥)! Its literal translation is "egg rice" :)
Beautiful videography, love!
THANK YOU 💜
The last cake that you ate is called Bindaetteok. Bin is guest. Dae means to serve. Tteok is cake. Litterally it means the cake to serve to a guest.
Wow you guys came to seoul
We call that La Soccarat in Spanish. The crisped up rice found at the bottom of paella is the most popular part of the meal and people squabble over it.
l love Korea
Soooo delicious. If it wasn’t for work, school, family and the lack of cash I would had made a Korea trip ASAP.
that is called pokumpap or bibimpap my father makes it
one of my fav dishes in korea is ghimpap and sunde a good place to visit is jeju island (will have to travel though) sorry for messeging after 3 years but kara and nate i love your viedos
seeing korea from a tourist's point of view makes me miss it.
Sikhye = rice punch. I think u had Kimch Mandu (dumpling) with that noodle soup (kal-guk-su).
Ahhhh nice! Thanks!
SEOUL is my next destination for street food, your video is really good guys... keep doing !
Signal from Twice which is a popular Kpop girl group 4:28 playing in the background yess
Nate is adorable. There is nothing better than a great "sock saga."
Last night??!! that went by so quickly :-( ... sad :*(.. but on to the next adventure ^^
Love wanting you guys travel vlogs
❤
Another amazing video . Love u guys my daughter told me about you and now im hooked . Safe travels
the only bad thing about binge watching your blogs is that i have to go back and like them because i watch it on large screen . no biggy because i can rematch my favorite parts.
you have a such an aura around you 💙 it gives me good vibes
Bi Bim Bap! You mix it with your spoon not your chopsticks lol.
One of the most healthy way to eat rice!
Glad that you nearly got all your different meals done, did you get to see some more of the old city gates and so forth anyway very interesting stay safe
Pretty good pronunciation!
I was watching this and just thinking about how there is literally nothing lile these places in America. The closest is farmers markets, and flea markets , but none Ive ever seen are daily nor as huge but these markets are.popular in so many countries and cultures around the world. I need to experience one, for sure.
Another very enjoyable Vlog from the two of you. The food looks so delicious and the city looks amazing. We can understand why you are sad to leave. We only landed at Incheon Airport but hope to visit Korea "properly" in the future. Safe travels to you both, Best Regards from Maxi and Maro in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Bibimbap is wonderful🤗
Kara, I love your sunglasses what brand is it
food in that market is SO GOOD ! theres a store that sells banchan only that that marinated raw soy crab thats super good. i think the stall is hong lim?
First comment love you both hhhhhhh
👍
My recommendation for places in Asia you havent been: Bagan, Mayanmar to see temples(better by air balloon); Macau; Goa, India; Bali; Sri Lanka...avoid China like the plague.
+ositofreitas Myanmar, Bali, India, and Sri Lanka ALL on the 2018 Agenda 😁
Yaaaay
Rice drink is called shikhye which is basically rice drink
I kind of want to do a similar take of this but like going to trash restaurants in the states like chili’s or Applebee’s. “I think they call these fajitas...” “exquisite!”
Hehe! I have the same enthusiasm for museums as you have for food markets :) But I love a good snack too, and enthusiastic people! :)
I love food vlogs 😊
Wow. I would rather eat The box food you ate on the train. That said, you are fun to watch.
The drink is called Sikhae, traditional Korean drink.
Man, I'm literally salvitating watching this video.
Algunos latinos por ahí????
W H. 🤗💞
Liking this video just for 'sock saga' lmao
It's bibimbap!!
👍😀
It is called 알밥 literally it means (fish)egg rice. The orange thing on top is fish eggs. That is the biggest difference btw bibimbop and (fish)egg rice. specifically when the both served on a stone pot we call stone pot bibmbop and stone pot (fish)egg rice. So, if you orderJust bibimbop, it will served on the normal bowl.
that yellow thing is raddish. Just to let you know, depending on where you go, they do serve dogs but luckily enough if you go to China, then they do serve not only cats but they do serve dogs too.
There is actually another local delicacy in Korea that should be eaten...the spicy pig trotters...which is super nice but super spicy
that food looks so gooodddddddd :D
RIGHT!!😍
Without the dog meat/soup, fish eggs, and octopus, yuk.
helmitpeak -.-
It's not pure wool if it stinks in a day. The shoe's wool is probably held together with synthetic threads that harbor bacteria and smells. I can wear wool socks day after day, and after a month, they won't be funky, but they need a wash by then.
I currently have 4 dogs which I love. I also have dishes made with canine meat on several occasions. It can be delicious, and worth a try at least. I would never eat my dogs, but also won't turn away a delicious dish just because it contains a somewhat Taboo protein. Love the videos. Thank you again. Don't let the haters get to you, and remember to keep an open mind.
do these videos as live interact chats
That was a very ignorant comment saying it better not be dog… so sad because your content was so good u til I watched this…. Please educate yourselves before saying something stupid like that and posting it you millions of subscribers
oh god, I am so glad you were joking about the dog meat! my heart stopped for a second when you said it...
Bad news: though it's less common nowadays and becoming more and more scarce, dog meat is still fairly common in S. Korea. It's more of a traditional thing, meaning it's not so popular as I understand it. It's said to be good for you during cold months as it has "hot chi", it'll help keep you warm and from getting sick. Again, as I understand it. I've never been to Seoul, but I'm originally from Los Angeles, and growing up, a lot of my friends were Korean, and that's what I've been told.
Great 👍🏽Vlog
Matt Damon market is super fun.
so thanks
the dirty water is barley water it helps purify the water and makes it a little sweet.
You are pretty good can use a chopstick
Love all your videos! Keep them coming.
Ps: Kara you're so naturally beautiful! 😩💘
THANK YOU 💜
