David, my love affair with you started when I first heard you sing with Ambrosia. Then I found you on David Benoit’s albums. Wow! And then whatever else I could find. Your voice and music touches my heart every time I hear it and I listen to you a lot. Tears flowed watching and listening to your tribute to the wonderful James Ingram…I hadn’t realized he was gone. Thank you so much David for what you’ve given to so many of us, and all the best.
Fascinating musician! I lived the 70's as a young woman and was married in 1975! Ambrosia music was with and in our lives...marriage ended 1980. How much I feel speaks volumes' of how I still feel for that great man once was a part of my life! Thank you for your music in that great era! Been 45+ years and I am still listening to your songs! Peace!
I grew up with Dave and back in the early 60's, we were in opposing bands. He, in 'The Parliament' and I was in 'The Beau Gentrys'. Even back then, he was better vocally and musically than any of the local South Bay musicians and as we grew up; it was no surprise how successful he became. Note : aside from his immense talents, David Pack is a humble and wonderfully kind individual.
David nailed it when he said "Holdin on to Yesterday" had a magical effect on the audience. That song was magnificent and still is to this day in 2024. It is my all time favorite of Ambrosia's.
It’s very true . I just saw “ ambrosia “ last night at the Venice west . Unfortunately David Pack doesn’t perform with the band anymore and it shows , but it was still a good show and I love Ambrosia so much that it was pretty amazing to see them including with 3 original members , even without David Pack . But the song definitely had a magical vibe to it !!
I'm so happy that I came across this Podcast!! I am such a huge fan of David's. I only say that back in the 70's I would literally just drop everything I was doing when I heard Ambrosia come on the radio. Of course, back then, there were no videos and it was a challenge to really get to learn about a band (at least it was for me) but when I heard David sing - I would stop and be mesmerized by David's unbelievable voice. It has taken me years to find out that 'the voice' of Ambrosia was the amazing David Pack. I'm just so happy to be able to learn about the history of the band and learn to appreciate all the details of the wonderful talents of David and the members of Ambrosia.
Love David’s voice, his song writing and producing abilities. Ambrosia was a favourite group of mine and still is. He is a genuine caring soul who unfortunately lost his beautiful wife Stacey back in Feb 2023 due to breast cancer. What a difficult road to walk down. One of our son’s had his first wife pass away in child birth and that was devastating but we were blessed at the same time with a grandchild. David has a son with Stacey and he keeps busy with caring for him and working. I do hope he is taking the time to take care of himself as well. Loved the interview!
David Pack is amazing in so many ways. Such a talent and musical genius. I saw David sing live with Ambrosia in 1978 - front row seat, and will never forget that experience.
I bought every ambrosia record at the time they came out. And in the 80s I was lucky enough to have Burley Drummond. Play gigs with my band in small clubs. I love all those ambrosia songs.
Thanks Kevin ,David Pack is such a great talent . I can sing OK but David Pack along with Peter Cetera is one of those vocalists I wish I could emulate but that will never happen . I have all the Ambrosia Albums , all David's Solo Stuff and some others such as David Benoit , Alan Parsons and some others .
Among all the great LA Session Players of this time, I wrote a list... James Newton Howard, David Paich, David Foster, Jai Winding, Michael Omartian etc etc As my Musical Director, Producer, Arranger..... Lays the name of David Pack top of the list. Influence? And then some....
What a wonderful interview! I love all you Guy's and your great music that has lifted me up through the years. Thank You!!! David is awesome and is a legend!
Not sure if David will read this but Road Island is in my top albums of all time! The comparisons to The Wall are quite interesting…art, studio, concept, producer ..
David Pack has a distinct and supreme voice. As great as the Doobies. I love the stories from David about their humble beginnings. I really Love the quarters story long distance call to Alan. Thanks for sharing your memories David and Kevin! ❤
Not crazy about Dave's statement at 28:55. They could've retained some of their prog roots while also playing the pop hits. That's what Kansas did. Now, if they wanted to go full-on pop, that's fine, but it's not as if they had to get rid of all the prog bits on all the songs to be successful. Somewhere I've Never Travelled is infinitely better than One Eighty to many of us. The band should've done what they wanted, and if they did that, then great!. But success with the singles doesn't mean you have to deny what you are. Dave's voice is much better than Michael McDonald's voice in the opinion of almost everyone I know.
Is pack Christian? Seems he is. Can't gather anything to show otherwise. It's same with the guy from Champagne. His Christian project Eyes Of The Spirit is great. Yahweh is great song

What an awesome man! I've been a fan of David Pack for decades!
Imagine David saying he wasn't happy with his voice!!! His voice is magnificent

Amazing story about Alan Parsons and the first album!
I wish Kevin & David had this Interview together in a studio & not the way this was done 😢 this interview would have been 100% better 🤔

Road Island in 1982 is a masterpiece.
Atmospheric melodic rock
Great job guys!!! Thank you for being you. Normal guy really thankful for you.
Loved the music of Ambrosia; remember Dave when he was a kid starting out; so wonderful to see and hear of all his success Love his voice
an avid fan from the Philippines, I love their trio Maria with Mike Mcdonald and James Ingram
I can relate to being my own worst musical critic but David Pack has one of the best voices ever.
Amazing story.
hadn't seen you in a few weeks it seems glad to see that you are back on
Fellow Huntington Park native!
I guess David Pack inherited his Dad's voice. He must have had a good voice b/c Pack has one hell of a voice.
You don’t know good music boy.
@adams8132 Wow! What's your problem? And why are you obviously watching this video if you hate David and Ambrosia so much?

I'm guessing he's a convert from Judaism but I'm not sure
Was David an influence on Jack Wagner
