Just found your channel and really enjoy your videos. Have to say I love the sound of that diesel motor!
Thanks Mate! Nothing quite like the sound/smell of a marine diesel engine, especially when the turbo light up!
Another great video Capt.! Keep 'em coming. 👍
Will do Mikey!
GREAT JOB‼️🛳🛥⛴ THANKS FOR THE WAKE FROM THE ON COMING VESSEL. 👍. Vinny 🇺🇸
Thanks Vinny!
Just found your channel and have been binge watching. Awesome stuff. Just subscribed.
Awesome! Thank you!
Absolutely amazing job. So impressed with your skill.
Thanks Silverstar!
Capt Ken, your channel is about to take off. Keep the vids coming.
Thanks yoyo! RUclips started showing my videos to more people last week, and since then it grown exponentially!
Good on ya Capt Ken, I just really wonder whether some of these so called Captains/skippers actually know what their doing, they buy these big boats and don't read the manuals or the river charts for that matter. Really dig ur channel, I guess I'm a boat crazy wench.🤣🤣😁
Sometimes I wonder if Capital Morgan isn't at the controls
Thanks Karlene! It sure seems like a lot of them don't unfortunately for them / fortunately for me :)
@@CaptKenO Thanks for reply Capt Ken, I know ur really busy.👍
I am, but I think it's important to interact with the viewers! :)
Capt. Ken, it could be salt spray, or those red gas cans could be getting sunburned and crispy. A coat of paint might help. Don't ask me how I know...
Well...they should be yellow...so 🤷
When you gotta tell them which side of the railing to put the briddle, it probably explains things a little...
I'm a new subscriber, so I'm playing catch up, what is the length and brand of your tow boat, is it gas or diesel? Is it stern drive or inboard, how much HP? How is that tow pylon attached to your hull?
dont know much about boats, but i guarantee thats a diesel!
I’m from the other side of the US so I’m not a fiberglass expert, (most of our boats are aluminum jet boats) but I would guess this is a 20-25ft Boston whaler of some flavor. Looks like a V-drive being that the motor cover is in the center of the boat. And it’s definitely a diesel. H-bitts are usually tied into structural parts through out the length of the hull, this one looks like it was custom built.
@@StuckBuckinaTruck cool, thanks for the information
Actually after looking at the interior a little better I think it may be a shamrock. I believe in the late 80s to early 90s they had a 26ft cuddy that looked very similar to the layout of this one but I may be wrong.
@@StuckBuckinaTruck you may be correct, my brother had a Shamrock and it was very similar
First time viewer. Now a Sub. Nice content.
Thanks Mate! Glad you like my content!
Nicely done
Thanks Michael!
Does this do any damage to props or shafts? Great content!
Thanks Nic! Towing them through the sand/mud won't damage them anymore than the damage caused (if any) when they hit under power. About the only issue most boats have is if they try to free themselves once they're hard aground and suck up sand into the intakes. I've had plenty of boats where I free them, they start going and within 15min they're calling me back because one or more engines are overheating
@@CaptKenO I guess that makes sense especially with a soft bottom.
I recently ran aground at a very slow speed, bumped my twin screws in and out of gear in reverse and got free. First and hopefully last time that happens! Had a slight vibration after that but it eventually went away so Im guessing something was out of balance.
Thanks for the info!
What kind of boat and what is the engine that you use?
Thks
It looks to me like a shamrock with a 6bt Cummins. I could be wrong tho
I'm hoping that one of these days he does a video just showing his boat, the engine it runs, and the types of gear that he uses.
He sure seems to know what he's doing!
WOW, had to work for this tow! She was STUCK!
There's enough of you asking for that video I'll make one sometime when I get a bit slower with the tows. For now, the big boat is a 26ft shamrock with a yanmar diesel (drawing a blank on the engine model) and the little boat I believe is a 20ft shamrock with a 327, but don't quote me on that
I would also be interested in a boat walk around. I am curios about the type of rope you are using for towing. Thanks for the interesting videos!
@@CaptKenO thanks really enjoy the work you do as I have been grounded myself. It is peace of mind knowing there is help when you need it.
I think you should have a deck hand skipper
The few times Capt Scott or Capt Zack have gone out with me it is REALLY nice having one, but I'm not paying for one and neither is my boss...so I'll keep going solo :)
Was it an outgoing tide at the time you had to pull him off the bank ? Did the tide make it harder ?
Yes. There was an outgoing tide. I wouldn't say the tide going out
Did they say the anchor. Was out in the mud before you started to tow him ?
Are you asking if I knew the anchor was out before I started trying to free them?
@@CaptKenO yes & the reason I did is because I lost service I couldn't watch the whole video but when the weather passed I got to see the whole video & know what all had happen great video tho keep up the good work stay safe
@@johngray2526 Thanks John!
What year and model is that boat you are driving to tow the sea ray Sundancer ??
1987 shamrock
@@CaptKenO Walkthru
@@garys2327 cuddy cabin
Did the captain of the stuck boat not try and pull the anchor in with his electric windlass-if the anchor was so stuck fast it might have helped a bit and inched his boat forwards………??
I think that's why the anchor was so stuck is because he tried that. With the boat being as stuck as it was there was no way the windlass would be able to pull that boat off
@@CaptKenO sounds about right! Just as well he had your number 👍
All that work and then the tide came in.
Yep. But the high tide was about 8hrs away :)
Kickass! Subscribed.
Thanks Mate! Glad you liked the video!
good service
멋진 구조네요
Well Done !!
Thanks LT Stem!
Man, that was one buried anchor.
Sure was! Never seen one so stuck before
Tell me what brand anchor that was! I want one!
Sorry. I don't know what it was. But it was a new anchor he just put on the boat. I'd say it's a keeper! :)
I know it's unavoidable, but how much damage is that typically doing to the towed boats screws and shafts?
Towing them through the sand/mud won't damage them anymore than the damage caused (if any) when they hit under power. About the only issue most boats have is if they try to free themselves once they're hard aground and suck up sand into the intakes. I've had plenty of boats where I free them, they start going and within 15min they're calling me back because one or more engines are overheating
his anchor was that stuck how did he drift so far lol
Not quite sure. My best guess is he walked the anchor up to where it was and tried using his windlass to pull himself free which is why the anchor was so buried
@@CaptKenO Looked like he would have needed you if for nothing else, just to pull the anchor!
Very cool 👍
Thanks 👍
Why'd you need so much line to tow that boat ?
So that I could get the right angle without digging my prop through the mud/sand
What make is your tow boat?
26ft shamrock
Wouldn't it be better if you tie closer to the boat that way when you're in just throwing all that weight under it and lift that boat up and then you'll be able to pull it off the shore
When pulling, the stern of my boat sinks down, so if I was closer my prop would be running through the bottom. Also, since I'm lower down than he was, I'd be pulling the bow down on his boat making him even more stuck.
Put it mildly where to get his license
When you have that kinda doh, licenses are nothing but inconveniences.
You don't actually need a license to drive a personal boat. and if born before 1/1/1988 (at least in Florida) you don't have to pass any boating safety course either
Are you guys hiring?
Always looking for a good captain. Shoot me a text with your info
If you could leave your words up just a tiny bit longer that would be really appreciated
Ok. I'll do that in the next one!
@@CaptKenO I always pause to read script but in general it should be up long enough for a person to read it twice before it disappears.
Surely if that line breaks the skipper on the towed boat will get hurt.
The good thing about polypropylene line is it has very little to no stretch, so very little stored energy to snap back towards me
@@CaptKenO i have personally been injured by polyprop rope. Dyneema is a better option ,and still wouldn’t let the towed skipper to stand on the bow.
@@johnward536 yep. But poly is a hell of a lot cheaper 🤣
@@CaptKenO definitely.
You need controls in the back of your boat.. F*+k all that back and forth
Haha. No kidding. Especially having to walk around the engine cover...I can't even count the number if times my knees have banged into that corner
