This was great! I have been teaching over 20 years and I like you do not focus or worry about classroom management.

This was very helpful because I can totally relate to what you're saying. Even though I'm in my 20th year, I really struggle with classroom management and sometimes I think it's because I'm too compassionate and I want to help them so much and I'm not strict enough and then I resort to you know being the opposite of that but anyway I appreciate your tone and your words. thank you

I appreciate your honest advice. Yeah, some kids really can be annoying, lol, but now I have a better idea on how to help the situation.
    Thank you!!!

I'm teaching english to 8th grade. And most students can't read, write and speak english. what is the best way according to you, to make them understand english, not decoding but making meaning out of those stories...their native language is hindi.
Thank you for the amazing video :)

Are they disruptive, or just cannot understand the language you are using and what you are trying to teach?

@@TeachersPlaybook They want to learn, not disruptive at all. But it seems like english is foreign to most of them. To make it worse they have their exams 2 weeks after. I try to immerse them in an english environment using children's literature, etc but my final aim is that they are able to read their text with meaning.

@@deepocean7636 And admin knows they cannot read English, but expects you to teach them everything they need to know about how to read?? That is crazy!! As a teacher, you have NOT been set up for success. I am happy to hear your students are anxious to learn. I am sure they make the struggle with your assigned task worth it. I would suggest finding a way to parallel the meaning of the text they are supposed to read to a real-life situation they do understand. Then, have them act it out. When they are ready, explain that the vocabulary of the story ties back to the meaning of the scene they have been acting out. Also, ask other teachers in your building what they have done in similar situations. While I realize these students are not learning disabled, I have found that special education teachers always have great suggestions for breaking difficult tasks into smaller parts. This strategy works for all students. Maybe you could join a special education facebook group and ask those teachers what they would do in your situation? I sincerely wish you good luck, and I hope you will keep me updated on how things in your classroom progress this year.

@@TeachersPlaybook Actually its an all boys school in a poverty stricken area. And teachers there don't care even if they fail. I did action verbs, where i would point to a row, and say an action like batting( since they love cricket), eating, etc and they have to act instantly, i did around 30 such verbs.
But they can't make their own sentences.
Thank you so much for your suggestions, i m including these in my plans for the following week :)
( also if there is any way to chat with you, it would be great, if not your comment section is my diary xD)
