I went school at UT Austin and I was working part time and studying. Some weeks I could barely make enough to eat good food (Remember that at the time minimum wage is Texas was around 6.50$) So I used to have a lot of instant Ramen. My Indian landlord noticed all the cup noodles and came up to my room one day and said “you can have dinner with us everyday if you wish. You will always have a seat at my table. Don’t ruin your health eating this” (points to the cup). The best landlord I ever had. Even when they go on family vacations he used to check up on me and he always had one question “are you eating well?”. You can’t fake love and care like that. I have lost count of how many delicious meals I have had with him and family. To this day I can’t go a week without cooking Indian food. Thanks to Mr and Mrs Selvan
Though you already know the love behind his words, still I want to add as an Indian that, the phrase "have you eaten" is a very cozy loving phrase used by Indian parents for their children when they are away. It means more than just food...it has the hidden emotion of are you alright, doing okay and such. He considered you just like their own child. This is so heartwarming 🤍

Volunteers prepare food & keep in the pendal...Rest is self service
Canada has free food banks and all the Indian students here flood there during the day. Do the Canadians go about beating chest saying we are proud to be a Canadian and this is our culture. But also some people who don't need reservation but still they use it, it is main peoblem. But it can be solved by proper implementaion on ground.
