- Let's play Ultimate General: Civil War! This is the first battle in the Confederate campaign and portrays Confederate troops attempting to take a small Union coastal fort at the beginning of the American Civil War.

In this campaign I'll be playing the Confederacy and using the J&P Mod which attempts to rebalance the game and makes a lot of good changes. This is one of my favourite periods of history and Ultimate General is a very good wargame. Leave a comment with your name if you'd like to have one of my brigades named after you.
All content is free to everyone. I release one video per day, per game/series. Members get early access so don't have to wait a day between episodes. If it's a game or series that I livestreamed you'll be able to watch all the VODS without having to wait or becoming a member over on / markgfl and I'll link to the exact playlist above in this description :)

There is a dedicated fallback order, F is the hotkey iirc. Very helpful as units don’t suffer such a significant morale hit if they get shot while pulling back
Hi Mark! I come with a request and a tip. I would love to see my Clemons brigade again. If you go into the mod folder for the game, you can make it were you can deploy skirmishers
Cool, nice to see them back! How do you mean about deploying skirmishers? I can currently do that, just not when in close proximity to the enemy.

@@samhogan7587 Ok, we could go for naming them "6th Georgia", "6th Georgia Infantry" or we could promote your great great great grandfather to Brigadier General and name them "J. W. Butts Brigade" (although sadly the game doesn't allow us to rename actual officers, so it would just be the name of the brigade). Which would you prefer? Or perhaps you have something else in mind?

I used to work with a guy whose surname was Armistead. He was quite into history and we got talking about the civil war and he turned out to share a common ancestor of General Armistead (of hat-on-a-sword going over the stone wall at Gettysburg fame).
I'd love to see Bargeys brigade as a big infantry regiment please.

I'm assuming this will end up a historical as you win battles that wasn't what really happened?
Hopefully, thats the plan. Though I did win a lot with the Union too that they historically lost. We should see a different final campaign in this run, plus a few additional different battles.
General Bayonet Bearbok reporting for duty as an infantry commander. Got his Bayonet nickname for his reputation for fierce charges with the rebel yell. Kind of the opposite of how ole Stonewall got his nickname (and Bayonet Bearbok has the opposite personality as well). Maybe General Bayonet Bearbok will meet his long lost brother in battle as his brother moved to the north a while back and is rumored to also be a general but for the Union. "In Dixie Land I'll take my stand to live and die in Dixie, Away, away away down South in Dixie, Away, away, away down South in Dixie"

Certainly. I think you'll see a lot more action (and success) as melee cavalry in this mod.

Hey just a heads up, dragoons aren’t meant to be melee cavalry, they can be in ideal conditions but their purpose is mobile infantry.
Dedicated melee cavalry have a sword symbol on their unit tag.
The difference is determined by the type of weapon they are equipped with.
They're still against artillery or routing units though.
From what I can remember, supply dumps resupply your wagons, not units

Very happy to see this paythrough start up and interested to see the mod in action to decide if I should use it.
So far I love the mod. The weapon names and stats seem to fit better and I like how units are more likely to surrender - something I'll have to be very careful of with my own troops!
