To Jazzbari: Oh! Thank you very much. It so amazing how Mr. Harris style has kept untouchable. It also surprises me -again- how the human mind can associate, in a blink of an eye, so many things and sensations, not to say the electrifying emotion that music can bring, that I went back to the living room where my father taught us to like Jazz, because, being a foreign music to us (we are Mexicans) we had to learn to enjoy it. That was one of the better presents my dad gave to my life.
I heard Barry in New York recently. It was simply the best music I heard in years. And the public knew they were listening to somebody special and the kind of music that's fast disappearing ( I am sorry to add).
Barry still plays beautifully and his playing is very deep and very true. I'd rather hear him than most of name players with fast runs and impressive publicity.
Hey! Doy you remember that record named "Roud Midnight" where seven or eight diferent musitians played this masterpiece? It had an elegant clock over a dark lilac and purple color base. For my taste, Barry Harris, Thelonious Monk and I don´t remeber the other one, were the best permormers. In listening to Barry´s piano in this video my wind went forty years back, It is just sensational. Thanks for posting this one. I really appreciate it.
