Awesome review video, as always! I can tell that the Dewalt drawers are fairly water proof, I have not submerged them, but have pushed them through heavy downpours and the interior stayed dry.
Just stop reviewing please. I’m seeing ryobi and all kinds of crazyness. We are tradesmen we drive trucks van riders aside. Before you start your next video put your box full of tools borrow the nearest adults truck, get on the highway in the rain come back and and start your video
Hahaha. Haters gonna hate. You know that you can also make your own video and post that right? p.s. I see more and more “work vans” on the road and on social media all the time. You don’t have to worry about rain with a fully enclosed vehicle…
Using a ridgid crate bolted to a small aluminum dolly for electric tools. compact tool box for tools and the clear top compartment box on that for screws and nails. made husky buildout tool case boxes for specific type of jobs and just grab whatever box the job is extra for the day. makes it easier unloading the truck, what stays and what goes back.
@@JakeWeihe Buildout, baby! Simple, affordable, reliable, sturdy. Anything breaks, I won't cry for one second - just drive to the HD for a replacement.
I have been Mil man for a bit but I have been looking hard at the new mod box This video has been very helpful thanks. Side note - there maybe a little orange box in my van soon lol
I’m glad I waited. I almost bought the first mod box. I own the Milwaukee pack out but I’ve had it for almost two years it’s time to change it. Makita also came out with a box system and it is garbage in my opinion because of their horizontal design.
Happy for the new box. Why do we always get served half of the burrito. Here is a box but no weather protection.. if you’re transporting tools in the back of the truck and it rains, what do you do then?? Milwaukee needs a removable handle. Being slow to market is killing their market share. Another potential Nokia situation.
A lot of people that have these expensive boxes and expensive tools don’t want to leave them exposed in their beds anyways. They’re optimized to fit under a truck cover or you can find a grill cover or tarp to put over them. Lol. Milwaukee has flaws but it is not like Nokia
@@JakeWeihe thank you for the reply. I drive a Tacoma and my packout setup is just way too tall. I can’t use a bed cover with my packout. I’m thinking of buying Klein.
They have funding, but to go worldwide. I think they want to avoid the tough competition in the US from Klein/Milwaukee/Rigid, and grab easier market share in the rest of the world.
@@wim0104 they have very little funding in reality because they’ve sold a bunch of stock as an attempt to expand, and it’s made them operate at a loss for the last few years actually… Also, they’re literally a USA based company, they’re not focusing primarily on overseas markets, they’re battling to stay alive and not go under, which is a shame because I genuinely love a lot of their products! Their product webpage gets updated every now and then tho so seemingly they are still cooking up another stockpile for release, just wish we knew when
Yeah, that folding cart that has the legs that fold away so you can just push it straight into the back of your truck or van that they're coming out with is something I've wanted for a long time that no one else has done yet.
I almost bought this yesterday. However, it's EXTREMELY heavy on its own, without tools. Once you put anything in it, it would be a two man lift. They really over built this thing to the point where it is too heavy and kind of useless, unless you are going to keep in in your garage. I'm glad they made this, but they need to trim the weight down by A LOT.
Hey, I just got some Klein mod boxes and I’ve been thinking about purchasing some of your accessories. I would love to have a side table like on thoughtbuilts you could even leave it hollow in the middle leaving us to fill it in with the desired material and so we could replace it with measurements
I like the look of the casters. They will help position my stack in the garage. I tried the promo code from the end of the video and the site says invalid code.
You kind of skip over the advantages of the Ridgid. One big one being that they intentionally now have the wheels on the outside to make the inside of the box have more space. There are plenty others as well
This is a video focused on the new Klein drawer. I talk about the advantages of ridgid all the time in other videos. Ridgid also has a an inferior connecting mechanism. And those wider wheels make it harder to roll through tight spaces.
Does someone make a modbox to packout adapter? I like most of the packout stuff a bit better than mod box, but this is designed a lot better than what Milwaukee showed off. Would be sick if it were possible to just combine them.
The easiest and cheapest way to do it would be to get some Packout feet, piece of plywood, and my modbox cleats.( how I made the custom modbox dolly in video) I’m going to make a short about it later this week
@@JakeWeihe Yeah, but that's such a clunky way to do it. Kind of defeats the purpose of these systems if you have to cludge it together with plywood. Plus, ideally one wants the absolute minimum extra thickness, not easy to accomplish with wood.
I’ve thought about I. I just don’t want to deal with sourcing and shipping the brackets and pieces of wood. I’ll make KRAs that you can attach your own brackets too tho. It’s been on my to do list for a while now
Some are made of HDPE. Menards sells HDPE but it’s expensive and really heavy. I’m personally a fan of the bamboo type worktops from toughbuilt or a uv finished plywood like my DIY Packout worktop. Plywood holds screws better than the plastic and can still be wiped down since it has a coating. HDPE is more durable tho.
Im looking at klein or toughbuilt, my main concerns being waterproofing and raw durability, also considering rigid. But im leaning towards toughbuilt as of right now Also, do we know if toughbuilt is planning to add a single drawer, too? Edit, saw the water rateing for drawers, i might just avoid drawers or find out a fix
Toughbuilt has renderings of several single drawers but I would be surprised if the toughbuilt rolling drawer came before summer 2025. Spring would be nice but it’s going to be tough. All of the normal boxes have near equal water proofness. There are some details I go over in my toolbox comparison video from last year but they all have the same Ip65 rating. I would say Toughbuilt, MODbox and Packout, are nearly equal in raw durability but toughbuilts connecting mechanism is less robust.
I want water proof- very resistant drawers. Dewalt has a gasket but the drawers fit like crap and seem flimsy even empty its not hard to build. Turn a large box on its side or back and open the front "lid" to reveal drawers!
Could you return it? Could always keep it as a backup, long term storage, or even turn it into an XL Box if you take off the wheels and attach some modbox feet to the bottom.
Milwaukee doesn't need to spend any money on advertising when they live in the heads of MODbox users rent free!!! The mere fact that everyone else is comparing themselves to Milwaukee is probably the best advertising they can get lol. Calm down...take a breath... Rolling drawers are coming from just about everyone and Ridgid beat Klein to the punch anyways. Having said all of that, I have personal reasons for wanting to ditch Milwaukee (for Packout only) and the only thing keeping me from selling my Packout and going with Klein is the lack of a shopvac. Even Toughbilt got one in the works for '25 (according to them)
If Toughbuilt has to delay their storage expansion, I don't see how they're going to create their own power gizmo's; lights & fans, maybe, but vacuums!?
Way to miss the point. 👏🏻 they announced it 6 months away from the real launch date… it will take Milwaukee over 7 years to deliver a rolling drawer to customers. It took Klein 1 and a half years…

Neutral party here. Frankly, Ridgid knocked it out of the park with cost/capability/flexibility.
